Spy (Discussion)

An assassin-type class that uses a different name so people don't bitch to much about not being to assassinate people with their assassin. Also being a Spy, it would trade the broken shadowstep mechanic for a useful but easily countered disguise mechanic as well as costly defensive stealth skills usable only for escaping. The disguise mechanic would allow the spy to have a lot of freedom of movement and to cause a lot of chaos and distraction, but could be easily countered and removed by alert players. Unlike the current GW assassin, the spy would be forced to use only 3 attack skills in a chain so that they don't become 1 dimensional spikers. There would also be more of a disruption/degening focus than a spiking one. Spy players would only be able to achieve solo kills if they could get off their small spike (~180dmg with a 3 skill chain executed in 3sec + deep wound, degen) and then use their disruption skills to keep enemies from healing their target.

A spy bar would usually consist of 3 attack skills, 1 chain enhancer (such as a preparation or stance), 1-2 evasion skills, 1-2 disruption skills, 1 res.

Why this is a good idea
  •  a balanced assassin type character
  •  playerbase has to become more alert to compete in any level of PvP
  •  less complaints about profession's spiking power
  •  sappan sentrehs and other hilarious hijinks
  •  webcomics depicting above and providing free publicity
Why it may not work out
  •  probability that bad playerbase is not able to play against spies
  •  playerbase has to become more alert to compete in any level of PvP and will probably bitch about it
  •  getting your sentry sapped, facestabs, ect.
  •  getting sued by Valve
