This is just as much a prediction as it is a suggestion.
It seems that against a power as forceful as the dragons, the races combined realistically would'nt stand a chance against earth shifting dragons. the only real solution here is to gain control over the fabric of magic itself and maybe get some rift action going between the realm of the gods and Tyria.
The story is practically begging for this sort of thing. from pre guild wars where we have Lord Odran's exploration into the rift to the whole Abaddon thing in nightfall to the mists in GW2. it all fits quite well into a great crossover into the realm of the gods for assistance. Orr would be a great place to start inter-realmly travel as it's geographically perfect not to mention a great opportunity to meet Lord Victo in the underworld (plus, where else but a capital of 'deeply spiritual' -now undead- magic wielders who were brought to ruin as a result of the lich himself?) Basically i think Anet would be crazy not to have this sort of thing going as the main plot in GW2. the Gods could direct a new breed of chosen toward the location of the last shards of the Bloodstones in order to gain control over immensely powerful magics and reclaim Tyria, not to mention Ascalon, from the clutches of evil.
Theres so much here which is just too hard to ignore in terms of lore and already confirmed information for GW2. one other thing i would like to see is some new action in the crystal desert. all of the storyline content in GW1 which has any relevence to the plot is all past knowledge. additionally, since the ghosts in the Crystaln desert are all Orrians there should be no trouble implementing their assistance against a legion of undead citizens of Orr.

- Would be very sound lore wise
- Provides a tie in to a lot of untapped storyline
- Actual underworld tie in with storyline instead of just PvP/Farming
- Wonderful opportunity for more great names consisting of "ssssss" to be thought up such as Sariss_Yassith
