The journal would be similar to the log in the fact that it wouldn't be a book that you have to carry with you. Whenever you completed a quest it would then move from you quest log to the journal. This way players could easily track what quests they have done and turned in. Also would make it easier for players to help other players do the quests they have already done because they could look in their journal to find that quest and see what they had to do to finish it.
