Issue
E/A do a really strong damage output with shadowstepping to their target and using Shockwave. In addition, due to the split of the damage, Protective Spirit and Spirit Bond don't trigger (if Dmg < 60).
Suggestion
Maybe its not a Shockwave Issue - more a Shadowstep once again.
1st Suggestion would be: lower the damage of Shockwave or
2nd Suggestion: Add to Dark Prison (or some other Shadowstep skill) a "Blackout"-Effect like "after shadowstep, your skills recharge 5 seconds." this would fix this issue for sure.
3rd Suggestion: Add to Shadowsteps a Blackout Effect for only SPELLS.
4th Suggestion: Let the damage of Shockwave stack to make Protective Spirit useful.

5th Suggestion: lower the damage and make it cause weakness as well, turning it into a defense skill instead of a spike skill. <- that was not my suggestion (or i didn't add it) Khazaro 17:23, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
I know, I did. Sorry about that. 145.94.74.23 08:00, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

I honestly think this is an issue with Shadowstepping as a whole, it really takes away from positioning and allows for fast spikes, I think there are a number of things we can do to the three main shadow stepping skills, Dark Prison, Deaths Charge, and Shadow walk, to balance this out. Thank you for replying Izzy. 145.94.74.23 08:25, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Wasn't that kind of the point of the Shadow Step mechanic? To be able to provide a surprise attack? The complaint here ignores that Shockwave is underused in PvP. Beyond that, a decent monk can prot against a Shadow Step spike. It really doesn't take much to counter the much more common (as opposed to the Shockwave ele) Shadow Form suicide fire ele. If they attack a player, the player moves from where the ele Shadow Stepped to, and that's pretty much all it takes. If they attack an NPC, a common WoH monk can counter the damage. Protective Spirit + WoH pretty much kills the attack. 76.89.81.150 02:53, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
I don't quite follow how Protective Spirit can counter this spell. With everyone and their mother having 600 health, it will reduce Shockwave's damage by 5 at best. Granted, 3*6*5 is still 90 damage, but the spike still deals over 950 damage then. 145.94.74.23 08:41, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Issue
Highly abusable as spike damage, especially with aftercast gone.
Suggestion
Elite Spell. Adjacent foes take 15...51...60 earth damage, after 1 second nearby foes take 15...51...60 earth damage, and after two seconds foes in the area take 15...51...60 earth damage.
Reasoning
Slows down the spike damage, but doesn't wound the skill's over-all damage OR ability to bypass over-used monk enchantments.
