This is part of my "make Smiting viable" campaign. Make these skills more active and improve them. They are just terrible and need to be changed completely. This proposal is based on Ancestors' Rage, with it's new better balanced stats.
Suggestion
"Skill. For 2 seconds all foes adjacent to target ally are struck for 5...40...50 holy damage each second." *5 Energy / *1 Activation time / 12 Recharge time.

PBAoE damage on a monk?, you're kidding right? I'd rather not die. Lava Font has its uses, but this skills monkliness, combined with a high recharge, make it unwieldly for most circumstances.
Suggestion
Like I said on the talk page (the anon talking about heats), make it do a short pulse aoe damage based on a foe's location, up the cost a bit, and leave the rest as is. We want them useable, we don't want to dethrone the fire-nuker as nuke master.

As others have said, PBAoE on a monk is silly.
Suggestion
Forget the Pointblank or even the AoE over time.

The Monk's Teinai's Heat and Searing Heat?

Give them some range.
Symbol of Wrath Symbol of Wrath / Kirin's Wrath Kirin's Wrath. 5 Energy 2 Activation time 30 Recharge time.
Spell. For 5 seconds, foes adjacent to target foe's current location take 5...17...20 holy damage each second. Attacking foes struck by Symbol of Wrath / Kirin's Wrath take double damage.
This would give smiters some AoE damage to compete with fire eles. I was going to give it a 10Energy cost but given its smaller AoE and lack of burning as compared to Teinai's/Searing and lower damage (though it is armour-ignoring), I kept it at 5.
However, since this might deviate a bit too far from the smiter's current theme / intended role, something slightly less offensive might be prefered:

Spell. For 5 seconds, foes adjacent to target ally's current location take 5...29...35 holy damage each second.
This could be used on allied monks to punish attackers or on your frontliners to deal extra damage (perhaps just as they KD foes or something). Either way, it would be better than self-targetting and would benefit massively from the faster activation time. As an ally-targetting spell, it would also benefit slightly from Diving Favour, which the previous suggestion doesn't.
