Duelling other players both in pve and pvp

I think it would be cool. Any ideas?

You are supposed to add new content in the end of the page. Whole reason of having two different sections of a game is to keep them separate. There will be no pking in pve no matter how hard you try. Biz 10:52, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
I think he means dueling WoW-style where both players must accept the duel, and there is no penalty for losing.
If there is dueling in PvE then its not PvE then its PvP there are a large number of indivduals who do not like the PvP type game play at all. 4.71.197.250 14:53, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

There is already something similar to duels in Guild Wars 1. Scrimmaging. My guildies LOVE 1v1. King Keberos. 15:57, 15 May 2008 (-4 UTC)

But you need to be in the same guild for a scrimmage. There's nothing wrong with this suggestion, it just means that you can request a friendly duel without any losses.
I also like the idea. Pretty much like in the norn arena, but if you could fight against real players, chalenge someone your friend for example. Someone you don't even know, some one who isn't in your guild or even a guest in your guild. It could be a fair fight so you could prove yourself. Norns have alot of duels where they want to prove themselves. Players like to prove themselves too, we are much like norns too. And maybe some people could even watch the batle, if the players want that people can watch their batle. so people could be around the batle watching it, but if they liked the batle they could even give litle money for the players who batlet. It would be realistic. usualy people like watching fights. There could be titles too. Those would be the real champions. pretty much like 1vs.1 (whitout heroes, whitout any help) --Rated Five 22:20, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Actually you don't need to be in the same guild. You could have a guest invite or be in the alliance. But yes, dueling would make it kinda interesting. King Keberos. 16:26, 15 May 2008 (-4 UTC)

Ok, let's get this straight first off - DUELING IS NOTHING LIKE SCRIMMAGES. Dueling is for when you meet somebody new ingame and want to test your 1337 skills against them, can you imagine someone saying "Oh, you have good gear, wanna take three hours to organize a structured scrimmage with me in my guild hall?" orrrrrrrrrrrrrrr "Hey, you have good gear, wanna duel me RIGHT here on this very spot?" so for people who have no clue about what dueling is, please keep your comments to yourself... as far as the idea of introducing a dueling system I'M ALL FOR IT!

If you add dueling, add a feature that players can chose to prevent people form challenging them. Something akin to an “I don’t care that you want to duel” feature. This would simply allow people who want to duel to be challenged, while preventing people who do not want to duel from being annoyed by those who do.--St andrew 01:12, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Now that PVP skills are different to PVE ones in GW it appears to me that there should be greater separation between the two types of play in GW2. But perhaps that leaves room for a third kind as suggested here, duelling between players using pve skills. In pvp the art is in choosing the right builds and in skill in executing them. If pvp skills were static (i.e. perfectly balanced and complete at some point) then pvp would consist of choosing a particular build and there would be less fun working out new builds. On the other hand if pve skills were to change regularly, the farmers and runners etc could be upset at having to find new builds. So I suggest that pve skills should remain more statically defined, with the exception of the introduction of new skills with new campaigns, and pvp skills should change more often, to make pvp a less predictable affair requiring greater analysis of current skills sets. In pvp, skills changes would keep the game interesting and dynamic, but armour and weapons don't need to change. In pve, skills need to be consistent but new armour, weapons, and environments are in constant demand. Duelling in a pve environment (should I call this cvc? character versus character?) should not involve loss of attributes, or loss of inventory items, but could offer some 'duelling points' ranks, and perhaps reflect on character qualities such as good (defence only) vs bad (mass murderer) or charisma of a character, and should be something players can opt out of (for example by restricting it to certain battlefields).--Vana Runedottir 02:32, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

I agree with this dueling idea, its a great idea. Just a duel for fun, no death penalty, no benefits, no extra time consumption, just one on one to the death. Narziss 21:45, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

and than the guys from south park can make an episode about Gw like they did with WoW xD.. dunno what to think about this idea.. if its going to be implemented which i doubt it, they should make like a lvl restriction or something. i mean you shouldnt be able to fight one with 10 lvl-s weaker than you. --Kunai 15:40, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

all of this on the ASUMPTION that its gunna be a open ranged mmo like WoW and not like GW... silly Majikpsilocybin 16:26, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

I was thinking along the lines of something like a duel room. To eliminate the people who want to accually PvE and not have a bunch of annoying, "Hey! Duel, please!!!!!!!" people around. The duel hungry people can just go into a duel room and fight people there. I mean if they really want to duel, they shouldn't be lazy and fight people on the streets (paths :P), right? 76.240.199.123 04:59, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Agree. If there is dueling--and it's not part of the regular PvP--it should be in an area for dueling. Or there could be several dueling houses around the land. Cameronl | talk 04:09, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Dueling was originally going to be released when factions came out. Actually, its developed into hero battles. The dev team might give you a better insight why this is a bad idea, mainly because the game's designed in such a way that all players have a counter, and in a duel, the winner will be the one with the better skill bar. If dueling does get pushed and pushed, it'll be something like how polymock is played, where the skills are pre-set to avoid imbalance. (Terra Xin 10:18, 19 June 2008 (UTC))

Dueling is dumb, it will only result in more faggots like this [1] running around polluting the game with their pitiful unwarranted self-importance. --Jette 09:24, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Wow that's a pathetic faggot. I also think there should be some "special restrictions" inside the dueling arena to prevent 100s of farmers jump in, and can't be defeated, so basicly restrict, or nerf certain skills (maybe like prot spirit, silver armor, shadow form). It should also be PvP based rather than be able to be done in the PvE world. We also cannot have a costume brawl duels because what's the fun if you can't use your own build?--24.47.41.80 15:06, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

My suggestion

If you are confused as to which one that is, it is the good one.--The Gates Assassin 05:20, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
