Chaos Storm

Yeah really the showy animation may look cool but you can spot it a mile away let alone in your face ;-) Maybe the animation could use a slight tweak for less show and if you remove dmg then its harder for person in it to see that they are... --Justice 23:34, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

I like the Idea of this skill causing exhaustion to anyone using a skill...but yeah lower cost and recharge and increase range pl0x.--74.61.209.219 01:50, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
or simply change to "hex spell" which would make it similar to Spectral Agony --Zealous 23:02, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

maybe increase the AoE of this , maybe make into an "in the area" spell , or the same area as searing heat , teinai's heat and savannah heat 189.70.185.150 00:03, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

How is this supposed to be a hex? It would do better than depravity if it was a hex. and no conditions, mesmers arent supposed to cause conditions other than blind, deep wound and cracked armor, they already have slow down hexes instead of cripple and degen instead of the degen conditions. Just buff the numbers of it to something useful --78.82.75.101 00:48, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

wow...go use chaos storm and formulate a good use for it. The numbers ARE GOOD. the problem is the mechanics of the skill which make it virtually useless. Incredibly small area of effect is its biggest problem but even thats not bad however people run outa it instantly with a simple kite of like 1/2 and inch. They notice it because of the very showy animation and the dmg(which causes scatter in pvm). --Justice 01:17, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

I'd suggest taking out the damage and the effect too, or at least making it less easier to see, I'd like to see it as an elite but i guess its too late for that now. more than 7 energy drain would be too much but maybe shorten the recharge and the cast time to make it easier to catch foes with. --Cursed Angel talk 20:44, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

Sigh...another skill that I rather not touch.

  1. Cost less energy won't make any difference
  2. Recharge faster make little difference
  3. Unconditional energy drain is overpowered.
  4. Interrupt skills is overpowered.

Functionality Suggestion

The damage is not really what it's about. It's almost like it's only there to shout 'hey there's a Chaos Storm on you!". The AOE e-denial is not effective in comparison to other e-denial skills such as Signet of Weariness. This skill however can force a scatter and I think that's the way to go.

So, here's another suggestion. I hope nobody minds!
Create a Chaos Storm at target foe's location. After 3 seconds, all foes adjacent to this location are interrupted and suffer 1...8...10 Energy loss.
The numbers and area could be tweaked, but I think this skill would benefit from a more aggressive function. --Redfeather 07:57, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Ignoring any damage dealilng on this skill just removes it from PvE play, and for PvP play even most AoE damage spells don't see a hell of a lot of play so I'm guessing AoE energy denial wouldn't either, and then you just have another dead skill which nobody uses. The storm type of AoE effect is not PvP friendly, and the Energy Denial effect is useless in PvE, thats why this skill doesn't work, its unwanted in either format. Decide it should be PvE and make nearby range add dmg and interupt etc... or decide for PvP and change from an AoE over time effect and re-write it to a more useable form of energy denial Ajax Baby Eater 02:07, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
I'd like to see a skill's area of effect that scales with your attribute, haha! 76.183.190.190 02:51, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
A change like that would be like meteor shower without the damage, a straight interrupt without the 2 second knockdown, only affecting 1/4th of the ground hit by a meteor shower with the ability to do it twice without getting exhaustion. I think I'll disagree with that. enemy monks could cast through that without penalty... even in PvE. I thought it was kinder to compare it to meteor shower than it was to maelstrom with its 10 wider ranged AoE interrupts for 10 more energy, casting time x2 and exhaustion. That attribute line has the ability to hold someone for the 10 second period like meteor shower usually can by itself. Cry of Frustration needed 2 major buffs to compete with skills since it came out 2005 and it is the only AoE interrupt a pure mesmer has. This skill seems to have only had 2 buffs since 2005 and this second buff is a temporary one! Mesmer's have the skills "Illusion of Pain", "Illusion of Weakness" and "Illusion of Haste".
In April 2008 Izzy has added a new skill in the secret update which he has twice used on mesmers this month. What is that new skill you ask? The Illusion of Improvement. This skill takes the three already mentioned as an 'elite' skill and removed the "Illusion" part and added the rest to any skill mentioned so far this month. Don Knowall 20:52, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Go back to...whatever you were playing before GW. 50dmg a second? c'mon. Phill Gaston 04:26, 19 June 2008 (UTC)

your confused....its 50dmg every 3seconds....which in fact is probably less dmg then it is at right now. the reason for every 3 seconds? wont cause scatter in pve--Justice 23:37, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

sorry at r16 its 15dmg...thought it was 25dmg...but still thats 45dmg every 3seconds as is which makes a revision such as mine 5dmg more--Justice 23:38, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
