Smiters Boon

moved from User talk:Isaiah Cartwright

Smiter’s Boon: recharge time increased to 90 seconds, Energy cost increased to 25, duration reduced to 5 seconds. Didn't you mean, Removed Smiter's Boon from the game? :P 217.123.99.239 15:02, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

balance it instead of killing it tbh 86.90.168.85 18:25, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

well actually its balanced enough, its just the team comparison thats uber 86.90.168.85 18:25, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Wow he is gonna KILL this skill. ~~ User:Frvwfr2 frvwfr2 (talk · contributions) 18:53, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Wow, talk about a BAD balancing job. It's practically not a skill anymore. Someone remind me how few useful skills there are any more? If something is broken and needs to be nerfed into the ground, re-work it instead of deleting the skill. It's no wonder that there's a "Fire Izzy" discussion on the suggestions page.
Worst nerf ever, this honestly fails. 217.120.229.159 21:02, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Was anyone complaining? If this was to be nerfed I thought adding a 20/30 second recharge would make it usable but more counterable, this is just a pointless nerf, which shows that either A) Izzy didn't know what to do with this skill for now or B) He has bad a mistake in earlier skill balances. 90.212.161.110 21:03, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Izzy, I know you are busy with Guild Wars 2 but....WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING????? YOU JUST TOOK ANY RESPECT THAT YOU STILL HAD AND THREW IT OUT THE WINDOW. IF YOU CHANGE A SKILL YOU CHANGE IT...YOU DON'T FREAKING DELETE IT FROM THE DAMN GAME. Psychiatric Consultant Shadowsong.jpg 21:03, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Like smiters where used that much in HA >.> 217.120.229.159 21:10, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Hey I know about the 4/5 man GvG smite teams. They were imbalanced but increasing the recharge to 20 or 30 would have balanced smiter's boon fine. Besides Izzy already killed GvG by removing VoD, a game mechanic that has been around since the beginning of Guild Wars. So right now GvG is officially dead..GG. Psychiatric Consultant Shadowsong.jpg 21:17, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

You think smiter's boon nerf killed GvG? Seriously? You've got to be trolling. -Auron 08:06, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Learn to read. He said Izzy already killed GvG by removing VoD. 87.189.236.211 12:33, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Smiter's Boon is a key skill in smite-heavy PvP teams that were generally overpowered and which too strongly discouraged the use of hexes and conditions. Their combination of healing, damage, and removal invalidated a lot of alternative builds within Team Arenas and has had a negative impact on GvG combat.

We recognize that the changes to this skill will essentially remove it from play. In the future, we may consider whether or not there is an incarnation of this skill that would be viable but balanced. For now, we do not expect it to see serious use. They might bring it back, but for now it just makes the team build too viable.--The Gates Assassin 21:18, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

This nerf is epic in a terrible way! Instead of removing Heroes from GvG, where they never should have been introduced, a balanced skill is destroyed in the most brutal way ever... -.- A. von Rin 21:44, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Why do people still insist that heroes are the problem with pvp. It's gotten to a point where its tiresome as well as retarded. If you can't beat a hero at pvp you fail. I'm not going to argue that the skill wasn't killed but I'm sure it wasn't because heroes were abusing it. 71.202.180.150 23:07, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

Guys, stop it with the NPA. Attacking izzy's person is a violation of it. -Auron 08:06, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

Ya this skill used to be fun, made smiting prayers useful. I liked using it RA a lot. It was kind of a hybrid - healer/damage dealer. Obviously a real monk could out heal a smiter's boon monk, but this wasn't even a skill balance. Izzy probably put this skill out of the game right now because of it's ridiculous power in gvg (I still say it was balanced for places like RA with only one monk). With the tournament coming up again, it was probably best to solve the problem fast, but a REAL skill balance should come right after its over. Evil Penguin 02:04, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

I agree with increasing the recharge to 30 would have balanced smiter's boon fine. 87.189.236.211 12:38, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
No, it wouldn't have. It was a real problem obviously, and no quick fix was going to help with the upcoming tournament and HA bonus weekends. Don't treat it as if it might as well have been removed from PvP: it HAS been removed from PvP. This is just their way of doing it. And apparently, it was needed. 145.94.74.23 19:02, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
It was unnecessary and stupid, but that's when you're saying "too busy with gw2 etc." so idk who to blame. Might still get reverted someday to 30 or higher cast (1-2s) if ANet does any real balance in future. 137.163.16.66 08:50, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I hightly doubt is was unnecessary becuase if it was, they wouldn't have done it. Also, because it was neccesary, it would have been stupid not to change it. Thus it was both neccessary and smart, because they couldn't come up with a better plan in such a short period of time, and something had to be done. 145.94.74.23 13:19, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Finally someone fucking gets it.--The Gates Assassin 01:03, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

New happy thumpsmite :)

So I heard axethumpers with Smiters just replaced Smiter's Boon with Divine Boon, wanna nerf that into 90s recharge aswell instead of actually balancing Smite skills (smitehex/smitecond/reversal) damage/heal/energy ratio and doing your job or get someone else to do it skillbalancing team? 137.163.16.66 07:16, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
