This skill has seen many suggestions already. Many of them focus on how to make it an effective damage dealing skill when Signet of Judgement and most of all Ray of Judgement are better options. Other suggestions include increasing the attribute ([[1]]), triggering on skill/attack ([[2]]) or disabling a spell ([[3]]). Most of them, I feel, are not typically what a monk should do.

I do not think that there is a need for another pure damage Elite in the Smiting prayers line, which is why I suggest to alter it towards utility and more specifically hex removal. Of course, balance between hex application and hex removal is delicate, as many discussions involving ArenaNet have established. Besides, Divert Hexes and now Peace and Harmony already are very good Elite de-hexing skills. However, there may just be a place for an Elite smiting hex removal.

This is why this proposition is thought as an Elite mix of Smite Hex and Infuse Health: a great potential at removing hexes while smiting foes, without casting or recharge time, at the cost of endangering the caster, draining energy, and disabling itself if the caster gets too carried away. This way, this skill can be used to quickly free an ally of hexes while punishing foes (and healing the afflicted ally with Divine Favor), but the Monk using it must ensure its safety first.

Suggestion 1[edit]

Word of Censure Word of Censure 5 Energy0.25¼ Activation time Elite Spell. A hex is removed from target ally. If a hex is removed in this way, all foes near that ally take 5...29...35 holy damage and you lose 50...26...20 Health. Otherwise, this skill is disabled for 5 seconds.

Suggestion 2[edit]

Unconditional damage, but more expensive if no hex is removed.

Comparison versus Divert Hexes and Peace and Harmony[edit]

  • Yes Quicker hex removal (1 hex/s) than both of them in the ideal case when the target is spammed with hexes.
  • Yes More flexibility (no 'charges' lost, no recharging skill when it should be operating).
  • Yes Multiple targets can be affected.
  • Yes Healing capability lesser than Divert Hexes, but way better than Peace and Harmony.
  • Yes AoE damage against hex-heavy teams and mobs (which none of the other has), without becoming an instant spike however.
  • Yes Very hard to interrupt (albeit very predictible).
  • No More expensive when dealing with lots of hexes, less effective when dealing with only a few.
  • No No condition removal.
  • No Very sensitive to Backfire / Visions of Regret, especially in addition to the health loss. However the very purpose of the skill mitigates this threat.
  • No Very dangerous when used repeteadly with the health loss option.
  • No Need to raise the Smiting Prayers attribute (less than 8 is probably way too dangerous).
