So it's like a better Smite Hex, only it hurts you and if you miss you are punished drastically? I'd seriously rather take Remove Hex than this. 86.23.97.195 11:57, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

It's also a function that is obselete for the monk. It already has Blessed Light, Peace and Harmony, Withdraw Hexes, Divert Hexes, Empathic Removal and Signet of Removal as elites and Convert Hexes, Cure Hex, Deny Hexes, Holy Veil, Purge Signet, Remove Hex, Reverse Hex, Smite Hex and Spotless Mind wich are 15 skills in total with some that even include condition removal and heal. You are giving it a new function that is already abundant. Those that are crap listed above just need a buff instead for better hex removal. No need to change a damage skill into a hex removal, especially in Smiting Prayers wich is an offensive line and not a supportive line wich people often seem to forget even with the constant nerfing of smiting support. Those that claim otherwise should check out A Monk's Mission and The Blessings of Balthazar, both teach you what the purpose of Smiting Prayers is in the very beginning of the game. Well, Smiting prayers is what offense is viewed from a support viewpoint. Usually smiting prayers manage to support the team while hurting the opponent, and it is exactly what this proposition does. As for the 'obsolescence' of hex removal for the monk, I'll assume that the meaning was rather 'redundancy'.
I'm aware that there are already several mass hex removal Elites in the Monk arsenal; I however point out that there are as many damage Elites (the good ones being Signet of Judgement, Ray of Judgement and somewhat Shield of Judgement.
Ray of Judgement is without question the best of these; my reasoning was to find an Elite that was good as dealing damage, but with a support role (smiting Elites without support role = Ray of Judgement).
Smiting revolves around four main things:
- Do holy, armor-ignoring damage; a smiting prayer is not a smiting prayer if it does not, somehow, do damage; except Elites like Balthazar's Pendulum and Defender's Zeal, and Balthazar's Spirit.
- Knock down or otherwise punish melee foes;
- Boost melee friends;
- Do monk stuff (healing, removing conditions and hexes) while doing damage.
This proposition both does damage at one pulse/second (the more hexes, the better) and removes hexes, which is compatible with the name 'Word of Censure' (condition removal or healing, I feel, would not).
I have noted, however, that this skill is in danger of being utterly useless without hexes to remove, which is a valid argument (the efficiency at removing hexes is not enough since I wanted to keep a monk-style damage Elite). I modified the suggestion to allow a more offensive, hex-indifferent use (but keeping hex removal as a better option).
