This suggestion is both about a Commander title revamp and some ideas about how the Elona Beyond content will be presented in the future.

Unachievable statue[edit]

The commander title (and the related statue) is something that is really bothering me. I have seen a lot of people walking around with it, but a "retired" title doesn't seem to be fair to me. The people who got it before the update in October 2009 have an significant advantage compared to the people that started gw after that time. Not only they had the chance to experience a great pvp mode which is now nothing more than history, they also can hang out in towns displaying their high commander titles. Also it did count like a pvp title statue in the Hall of Monuments, efficiently giving them 53 choices for their HoM while the other people only have 52 choices. Some may argue that is is not much of a difference because most people will go to Guild Wars 2 anyway, but I do not share that opinion. I know plenty of people who stay in GW 1 for different reasons (including myself) and who need to have a new goal to go for.

PvE[edit]

My suggestion is to create a PvE method of earning this title..which should definately not be easy like earning rank 10 in any eye of the north reputation title. It could have a perfect synergy with the yet-to-be- announced Beyond content in Nightfall. After the initial phase of gw2 has passed and the live team is slightly richer at resources and time, it could be a very good idea to swoosh the dust clouds off this nearly forgotten title and have massive 300-like fights against NPCs in Nightfall beyond, so players can really feel themselves a true commander; leading the Elonian armies (and your own heroes) in their battles against the undead lord Palawa Joko and his undead armies (including strong revamped skillbars to keep the playerbase busy. Each battle could reward the player a set amount of victory points, and at the end the player could be given access to some kind of repeatable quests (but with lower amounts of points-like 1 per win. )This gives the player a choice of either farming the quest over and over, or restarting on other characters, thus keeping it active.

Rewards[edit]

The reasons why War in Kryta was more inviting to replay the content than Winds of Change, were mainly :

  • Boring first phase, full of fetch quests.
  • Winds of Change had unlogical plottwists and spawns like the Scavengers.
  • WoC had a lack of HoM rewards. WiK added Opressor Weapons to the HoM, which were a great motivation for players to do a playthrough. A revival of the Commander Title may be able to do the same, and it may even return players, and not just the HoM completionists or those who have their comnander ranks at rank 11 for ages, but both PvE and PvP players in general.

Another thing mainly Winds of Change lacked was the awesome feeling of exploring "new" areas. The dev team may no longer have the resources to create completely new explorable areas, they may have the resources to, in addition to re-using non-frequent used areas like Yahnur Market, Barbarous Shire and Mehtani Keys, also give players access to the Bombardment, Desert Sands, The Beachhead, The Crossing, and Ahmtur Arena maps as a setting for the quests and mini-missions.
