While they say this patch is to discourage botting and automation, it really just looks like they are just trying to make the game more pointless. My guess is to discourage players from playing GW and try pushing them to GW2 and the new expansion. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 174.23.232.164 (talk) at 00:49, 30 January 2015 (UTC).
- That's so dumb. I doubt they have a secret agenda but I'm going to admit this is messed up. Ab is already dead as it is, this update to those pvp formats was pointless, nobody syncs and bots ab. Christ, idk what to say this is so discouraging. It's like they want to destroy the little pvp that the game had. I have a bad feeling, a bad feeling I'm not going to play ab again after this week. --151.228.229.92 01:06, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
This update is just hilarious. I just finished a 25 win ra run and can go to sleep now, because my cap is full? and not even getting all the points because we killed everything too fast (running 3 eles)? after all this years, arenanet suddendly doing "something against botting" by restricting actual gameplay massivly? punishing the little community which still plays this wonderful game after all this years? they should be proud, that GW is still played by some fans, and not making it more and more impossible with such ridiculous restrictions. i was hoping to play ra all day this week, now all i can do is looking at my favorite game for many years getting slowly killed by its own company and this makes my really sad. because this update definitly will NOT stop people from botting, but only restricts the ones, who wants to play it for real. 79.202.246.61 01:34, 3 February 2015 (UTC) a sad GW ra player
Many of these changes are ridiculous:[edit]
1. "Arena battles that end before 1 minute passes will no longer give the winning team rewards" - All this does is punish good teams or teams who face opponents that die quickly, which happens very frequently in Random Arenas. It doesn't do anything at all to stop botting, and the ability to resign from matches has already been disabled, so it doesn't help to stop match manipulation at all either.
2. "Limited the number of Zaishen Keys that can be purchased by a player from Tolkano via Balthazar Faction in one day to 20." - This means a limit of 100k Balthazar faction can be earned per day, essentially. Regular, GOOD players can earn more than that per day. All this does is punish them. Syncers are people who generally don't PvP to begin with or are absolutely terrible. This doesn't prevent them from syncing. 100k per day is still a lot for them, so they will continue to do it.
3. "Limited the number of Gladiator title points that a player can gain from Random Arena in one day to 100 (doubled during Random Arena bonus week)." - This is COMPLETELY absurd. 100 gladiator points = ONE 25-win streak. Good players are perfectly capable of earning WAY more than that. You can hit this limit in 1 hour of regular play. All this does is punish people who actually want to play Random Arenas. At the VERY least you should be able to earn 300 points per day (600 during bonus week).
4. "Limited the number of Codex title points that a player can gain from Codex Arena in one day to 100 (doubled during Codex Arena bonus week)." - Just as with Random Arenas, good players can easily earn more than this. Granted, Codex Arena is mostly dead, but if people DO feel like getting a good group together and going to play it on a day when it is active, they get nothing out of it after 1 hour.
5. "Limited the amount of Imperial Faction that can be gained in one day to 100,000 (doubled in Competitive Missions and Alliance Battles during their respective bonus weeks)." - Again, this just punishes people who actually want to play Alliance Battles. It's not as bad as the Arena limit, but still too low.
6. ***With regards to Guild vs Guild matches, the ones which are not automated tournaments, the matchmaking system NEEDS to be fixed so that guilds can actually play each other. You've made some good changes that help to limit syncing, but people who actually want to PLAY are largely prevented from doing so by the game itself.*** Zuranthium (talk) 01:20, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- Aside from what was pointed above by Zurrie, 5 strongboxes a day for playing GvG is way-too-low. Should be able to receive at least 10 items daily. Not to mention no one would play the regular GvGs until people will be allowed to bring up to 6 henchmen with them. Dmitri Fatkin (talk) 07:06, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
Clearly this is and OBVIOUS attempt by anet to sabotage the game. For years they do nothing at all about bots and such.
Now suddenly, after they announce a new expansion for GW2 they release a patch with MAJOR restrictions. And while they CLAIM these retriction are for other reasons, they are clearly trying to limit any bonues to a short 2 hour play time. Play more than 2 hours and most will use up all the daily bonuses.
I know people that play AB during AB week for 4, 6, even 8 hours and more on the weekend. But now they will have no bonuses after 2 hours or so. This will basically kill and already dying AB week.
And glad points? If one earns the MAX points allowed every single day, it will take more than 5 YEARS to max the title. And if they do it a more realistic 2-3 days a week, it will take 13-20 YEARS to max the title.
No, the severity and timing of the restriction are CLEARLY and attempt to SABOTAGE an already dying game. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.2.131.4 (talk).
- 100 glad points a day is really too low. HA needs a year to max in theory, so should the gladiator title. I’d say 300–500 points a day is OK. I can’t say about Kodex, because I didn’t know people were even playing it for real. Capping out in JQ needs at least 4–5 hours (4,5k faction per match, one match per 12 minutes), which is OK I think. AB has lower rewards and longer matches, so you won’t cap out after 2 hours there. The GvG sStrongbox limit seems a little low, but HA’s limit is also quite low. If people really head over to GW2 because of this (I can understand that RA players are really frustrated), keep this in mind: Ten of GW2’s sixteen WvW titles (the last 10 in the original order) exceed the current human life expectancy even if playing all day long (in addition to exceeding GW’2 life expectancy, too). --numma_cway (talk) 21:35, 30 January 2015 (UTC)
- While I agree with Zurrie, I do think that Codex should be killed. The only ones that play it are those with their alts and they abuse it. That's their intentions. It's best to take away title, rank, etc. from that one and give back the Random Arena and HA their respective title earnings as well as strong boxes. The title cheated at most lately is only Codex. I've seen that during the night of people afking with clearly their alternates. Rodan (talk) 10:13, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
- Codex Arena was actually among the things which were brought to the attention of the Guild Wars Live Team the last year, though it's not that kind of fix one would slap together in a matter of a few days, as to get that instance revived, it'd need changes similar to the ones which were introduced at Heroes' Ascent, in conjunction with more complex adjustments fitting the map's playing rules. In other words, there isn't a thing which calls to be heedlessly removed (not a smart decision), yet, it's not difficult to notice the area itself isn't operational normally, as was intended, in its existing form. Dmitri Fatkin (talk) 14:18, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
- I agree. I can't see many of these changes/limits actually helping the players who want to play. 5.196.0.123 10:49, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
Well, the patch seems to be doing a good job of CHASING PEOPLE OUT of Guild Wars. But that is about it. The game was already dead when the patch came out, but now it is noticeably even more dead. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.199.40.2 (talk) at 14:32, 13 February 2015 (UTC).
