Drunkard Zoning

Regina, I was just wondering as I have found many guides on this matter. It appears as there is a way to zone from the guild hall and to town and so forth to be able to achieve 3 minutes on the drunkard title within a little over a minutes time. From what I understand this method works but my question is, what are the legalities on this situation? Can people be banned for it? It is against the EULA? --Cynical

I thought this stopped working a while ago and no longer happens as "reliably" as it used to, turning into a colossal waste of booze. User Rose Of Kali SIG.jpgRose Of Kali 11:09, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
No it's proven still effective (NOT by me). I just want to know if it's against the rules and what not even if it don't work. --Cynical
Definitely. The dwarves will arrest you for drinking and map-traveling. -Cursed Angel Q.Q 12:04, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Zoning while under the influence is a bannable offense. Thanks! NuVII User NuclearVII signature 3.jpg 14:16, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Well thanks for the info, unfortunately I need something a little more solid. In my experience something like this would fall under being an exploit. Using an exploit for personal benefit from my understanding is against the EULA. --Cynical
Technically it's against the EULA but I highly doubt Anet cares. The spirit of the language was designed to curb issues with bug exploits that can harm the gameplay such as duplicating items. Since drunkard portal jumping doesn't hurt anyone else, break the economy, or harm gameplay; Anet probably won't care. If they banned people for that then they'll have to ban people who portal jumped though areas to boost their cartographer title, or people who double click on tonics to get two tonics in before zoning. --Lania Elderfire 03:30, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
I think this is less bannable then the people who use drunkingbots, which are also legal it seems since i know alot of people who use them without that they get banned. Or they just use a marco on their G15 as a sort of bot which clicks for them after each 3minutes. 62.133.217.40 09:41, 10 March 2010 (UTC)
Unless it is a bug, I don't think it being against the EULA. And it's not like it gives a real advantage. The Drunkard title is ANNOYING because it breaks game experience having to pay too much attention to it, but it doesn't give any real benefits, like other grind titles such as Treasure or Wisdom, or the plot ranks. It's not my place to discuss disciplinary questions. This seems to be more of a support question, so I would advise opening a support ticket and asking the folks who actually make the decisions about the User Agreement. I wouldn't presume to answer a question that I don't have all the information on. I am far less knowledgeable about this issue than I believe support would be. I'm sorry I couldn't answer the question. --Regina Buenaobra User Regina Buenaobra sig.png 21:32, 18 March 2010 (UTC)

Hey

"... axe the following: seeping wound, blinding surge, VoR, every necro elite, critical strikes, expertise, fast casting." Are you planning on doing that anytime soon? It would really benefit your game. -- Tha Reckoning 23:01, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

And faintheartedness. And all punishment hexes. -- Tha Reckoning 05:11, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Or you could shorten it down to Curses Magic(Herf Derf) and Domination Magic. Much easier. --Master BriarUser Briar Sig 2.jpg 05:38, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
"Oh hey, don't mind me while I'm posting skillbalance-suggestions directly on regina's talkpage!"
Your opinions on things are just that very important, aren't they? -Cursed Angel Q.Q 12:23, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Make sure only to axe Expertise and Fast Casting for secondaries, by the way. Morphy 12:38, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
That's a half-assed solution, but I'll take it over this none-assed lack of one. :> User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 16:29, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
It isn't, Expertise and Fast Casting are fine for their own professions. Look at Divine Favor. No other profession can properly play a backliner with monk skills but they can take skills to support their skill bar, which is exactly its purpose. It would work the same for Expertise and Fast Casting. Morphy 12:55, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, it kind of wouldn't, since the vast majority of useful ranger skills are too expensive to be used by anything but a ranger, and the vast majority of good mesmer skills cast too slow to be used by anything but a mesmer. The very, very few exceptions are dshot and natty stride (and those aren't even serious) for rangers and the 1s (or faster) casts for mesmers.
Compare that to, say, Warrior as a secondary. Any class can make good use of decent (non-strength) warrior skills. RaO axe, stance monks, tactics paragons, the best IAS options in the game, etc.
What you're advocating would be something along the lines of halving the duration on every war stance and the damage from every skill and adding, "Your warrior attack skills deal 1 more damage and your warrior stances last 10% longer for each rank in Strength". Or halving the durations of every Necromancer hex and adding, "Your necromancer hexes last 10% longer for each rank in Soul Reaping." Essentially, we're removing a lot of options that have no reason to be removed. And consider: this is already the case with several professions.
Alternatively, we could take the opposite approach and make primary attributes a bonus instead of a requirement. Why do monks have to spec 3 attributes to be competitive when they're only using skills from 2? Why do mesmers? Rangers? It's a pretty bs double standard when every other profession can be effective with spec only in attrivutes that they're using skills from. Instead of removing options, making primaries a bonus creates options.
But it does more than that. Let's say that we reduced the cast times of mesmer skills to normal levels, then halved Fast Casting's bonus. It would mean that if a mesmer just wanted to run dom and inspiration, they could. Furthermore, and this is important, it would mean that if a mesmer wanted to run Water Magic, they could, but they wouldn't be better at it than an ele. If they wanted to run Curses, they could, but they wouldn't be better at it than a necromancer. And it lets other professions run mesmer skills! But, guess what? Not better than a mesmer.
I'd rather create balance in a way that balances more things rather than fewer. User Raine R.gif is for Raine, etc. 18:37, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
