GW2 is already slated to be like WoW in more ways than one, isn't it? That's probably because it's a much more successful game, Wyn. -- Tha Reckoning 14:15, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Successful by who's standards? I think WoW sucks on many levels. It held my attention for less than 2 weeks, as opposed to almost 14,000 hrs in GW. I don't see that making WoW a "much more successful game" in any way. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 14:17, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
It didn't appeal to me either, but it has a bigger fanbase, so the guys over there must be doing something better than the ones here at GW. -- Tha Reckoning 14:21, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Also, isn't the definition of how successful a product is defined by how well it sells, and not by how many hours either of us played it? Apparently WoW is a more interesting game, seeing as it's kicking Guild Wars' ass in active players and copies sold. -- Tha Reckoning 14:29, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

WoW and GW are different games other than that they're both MMO's, hence one might find one better than the other anyway since being a good game is totally subject to the person. Anyways:

  • WoWs death- system sucks as much as GW's system. And essentially they're the same, both using resurrection shrines. WoW gives a penalty and let's you rush back to the location with double speed to resurrect (mostly unprepared) at your dying spot, which is mostly still super far away if you ask me. In GW you resurrect at the resurrection shrine, let's you walk back to the spot which you can approach in an entirely different way you failed before. there are always about 3 resurrection shrines in most areas and you resurrect mostly near you (relative to WoW that is). That and ressurection skills in guild wars are ten times more numerous than in WoW every class can resurrect and most of the system is based on this very fact. In GW you also need to think a bit and can't just jump in battle. it's about team play and not like WoW about hacking and slashing alone. What i noticed in WoW is that it's very very easy to solo everything, while GW was intended to work with a team.
  • What I do myself is assigning a button to target closest item, it only targets things you can pick up or interact with. then hit space.. and you can pretty much pick up everything you need. (plus it's just a lazy option to not walk over it and pick it up. :P)
  • It just takes getting used to? the "code" is as simple as the starting letter of every profession. easy.
  • Managing heroes is a huge pain as you have to add & remove them to/from your party each time you want to see what gear each one is using compared to what gear is available to buy/has been picked up. The henchman panel needs to show more detail & have the ability to switch between them all. One screen showing each's attributes & equipment would make upgrading/developing them far more fun. /agree
  • I have to agree with you, it's not very clear where you can get your stuff at the start. The only hint you get is that you need to look at the NPC's name and even then you have to find where to find all the stuff. Of course there are crafting material NPC's who just sell these. But otherwise it is not explained at all. True.

It's very easy to solo everything in GW as well, excluding elite areas, which aren't meant to be solo'd. PvE in GW hasn't been about team play in a long time, either, or heroes wouldn't exist. -- Tha Reckoning 17:11, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
Well you do work together as a team with your heroes either way. I thought that it was pretty obvious I didn't mean an all human team. Your heroes still need to interact with eachother in a good way else you get nowhere. (Frizz 20:59, 12 May 2010 (UTC))
If you do it with heroes, it's still solo. Have you tried telling your heroes a joke, or how to play a dev hammer bar? Team play is with other people, not a.i. -- Tha Reckoning
Well sure it all happens automatic, and you're playing alone. But The whole point was that GW needs a team/party where WoW doesn't. I probably shouldn't have said that WoW is more soloable than GW, my bad. (Frizz 15:50, 14 May 2010 (UTC))

Thanks for checking out the feedback. This is aimed at GW but maybe if some systems carry over to GW2 the improvements could be implemented there.

  • I didn't mean to start a GW vs WOW argument (Personally I think it has gained momentum so much cause it has a bit of an Apple like status now & some people don't want to invest 1000s of hours in two different mmos, also upgrades, tweaks, content expansions are constant). I only used it as an example as its one of the few other MMOs I've played. Planetside's resurrection just doesn't make sense for these sort of rpg mmos.
  • True success is in the eye of the beholder I think.
  • The dieing problem is a tricky one. But I have to say it's only a problem when you haven't explored everywhere. As an example when you enter the Diessa Lowlands you get a respawn point. My mission was right near the Grendich courthouse but I hadn't been there so I couldn't respawn there. About 8 times I had to walk 3/4 the length of that map simply because I didn't know the courthouse respawn was there.
  • I haven't played WOW in a while (due to the cost) but even if you can't respawn in undiscovered areas (I think you can if you're close enough) the double speed back is such a time saver. There is a buffer area around your death site, enough that I've never had a problem pulling back to recover.
  • Team play doesn't help if you are soloing with heroes. In a large heated battle its near impossible to control the heroes when you hit the point of having your team start dying. Only humans can be that smart in those big battles. As an example the battles in Zinn's Task.

Keep in mind here that these problems are exasperated when you're leveling up. Once you hit 20 not so much of a problem, but obviously if they are going to increase the lvl cap in GW2 they will have to look at some of those issues then if they won't fix them for GW (assuming they consider these points valid).

  • Thats a good idea assigning a button to target pick ups but a single click (one click walk over & auto pickup or auto loot) built in would be one step better.
  • I think if they want more new players there shouldn't be a code to decipher. Have an option for advanced players perhaps to shorten things.
  • I'm adding another thing to this to. I have been playing pretty solidly for a few weeks now & have only just figured out how to enter a mission. I really don't see why you would talk to an NPC about a mission then have to go to another area/screen to enter the mission! No, I'm not an idiot either. --Bradkay aus 10:24, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

P.S. I really hate this feedback discussion system, Why don't they just have a simple forum setup.

I gotta say that the first few weeks or months were not very nice to get into the game. Mostly what I think to be the problem that things aren't so straightforward. Like the enter mission button is something they also left out of folowwing chapters which is an improvement in one way, but then sometimes it's not clear to find these NPCs either.(Frizz 15:50, 14 May 2010 (UTC))
