Discussion[edit]

If you want the "Burst" to be a warrior only trait you should not add non-warrior burst skills. The burst skills also need to have something that gives them an identity other than causing adrenaline loss, a positive effect that makes them worth taking. Right now you are only adding adrenaline loss skills to the list and call them burst skills without them having any type of "burst" effect. So unless you come up with a burst effect it's a suggestion that serves no use since it would only be a cosmetic name change. Da Mystic Reaper 12:56, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

The thing is: they actually ARE different from the current 'lose all adrenaline skills' in that they can be used at any adrenaline level, their power only varies. So instead of a fixed cost you could just release a 6 adren final thrust instead of the usual 10. My only concern is that decapitate will be extraordinary plwerful with this change, its as expensive as eviscarate and with the removal of energy loss players can now easily follow ip with an energy based axe attack. Well about those skills you are talking, i'm the one who added them afterwards. The use on any adrenaline level is my idea i got from Falconeye's idea about adding Burst skill for the warrior. And about Decapitate, i made Decapitate that powerful due to the posistion it is in because of Eviscerate. It needs to be powerful to compete with Eviscerate and justify the adrenaline loss as an elite skill. Da Mystic Reaper 21:13, 11 January 2013 (UTC)
  1. Yeah, I was exporing the feasibility and limiting factors for this GW2's concept within the mechanics of GW1, but DMR's approach (as usual) of ditching the upfront cost and making all Burst skills lose all adrenaline (& vice verse) is way better! ^_^
  2. The Non-Warrior skills are meant for references on how these would interact with Warrior-primaries.
  3. For further synergy, I am trying the 'Feeder/Teardown paradigm' within the Warrior's context; this thought process is a launching-pad and subject to change, and doesn't mean I'm deliberately making warrior a copycat of Dervish. I started off with DMR's version of Dragon Slash, since it can 'feed' Burst skills (i.e. Final Thrust) and elite status justifies its instant-recharge, and partly due to feedback-responses on every reasonable to alteration to other skills (like "FGJ!") being declared as overpowered.
  4. Any suggestions on how Strength primary attribute should interact with Burst skills and Burst effect? I'm thinking of tying it with "Lose all adrenal", since all burst skills will have that drawback as part its cost (similar to how exhaustion became Overcast).
  5. I intend to limit Burst attack skills to around 15 (or less); 1 Elite per attribute + 1-3 non-elite versions per attribute. As for Burst utility skills, I am aiming 1 elite + 4 non-elite in both Strength and Tactics.

What i has in mind myself is to give each weapon type 1 elite burst attack and 1 non-elite burst attack and 1 elite melee burst attack and 1 non-elite burst attack. There can be some skills specificly designed around the burst attacks, such as Burst of Aggression or a skill that offers a buff at adrenaline loss, but it should be limited. Don't worry too much about adrenaline gain skills, the recharge of 10 seconds is for a good reason. Also, when you compare it to normal adrenal skills that do not cause adrenaline loss and how fast they are charged i doubt there is much of a balance issue. Anyways try to keep the ammount of burst skills limited so you don't get a rivarly amongst them of wich burst skill is better, keep the ammount limited but their power strong. I also don't see a feeder/teardown type of mechanic working on a warrior and it is also something i would not want to see either. The feeder/teardown style is what gives the dervish it's own identity of it's way of fighting, such as corpse exploits to the necromancer and preparations to the ranger, give it to the warrior and the dervish will lose that identity. Irresistible Blow[edit]

I don't think such a change is needed if you want to follow a skill nomenclature. Seeking Blade and Swift Chop like Irresistible Blow punish blocking while Seeking Arrows makes arrows unblockable and Swift Javelin has a conditional unblockable as well as Irresistible Sweep has a conditional unblockable. For Irresistible Sweep (and Whirling Axe) it can be called an exeption to the "Wild" nomenclature that it removes a stance without having Wild in it's name, but all of those skills have one thing in common, they counter blocking being it by either block punishment or with unblockable. So there is no need to go all the way up to the unblockable stance removal for a skill nomenclature, besides you already have Wild Blow. Da Mystic Reaper 13:42, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Also, Soldier's Strike and Thrill of Victory are definitly a no go, those 2 are fine already and don't need such a change. There are plenty of skills that can be buffed in a different way and don't need to be changed into a burst skill, this includes skills that have an adrenaline loss (such as Wild Blow), you can easily give them functions that don't cause adrenaline loss. Right now you seem to be focused too much on the burst function up to the point it can be called tunnel-vision, try to broaden you sight and try out different ideas as well. Da Mystic Reaper 12:21, 14 January 2013 (UTC)

Tagged the Duplicates as Burst; both Strength/Tactics surprisingly lacking in Burst-candidates (unless I broaden the Bursts' definition to include non-attacks). Tying figuring out how pace myself with multiple projects/feedbacks and centralize/transclude them like Konig and Mora did. ^_^ --Falconeye 08:51, 15 January 2013 (UTC)
