Feedback talk:User/Getefix/do NOT make this big mistake!!
World of Warcraft did not invent the persistent game world. And I don't recall soloing in Guild Wars being a cause for intense sexual arousal. elix Omni 17:01, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
hey - I was running out of things to describe Getefix 18:24, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
- "Runners will be made redundant". Good. Technically, a game shouldn't even need them. "vertual recession". I think most game economies work just how they're supposed to.-- anguard 17:01, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
fair enough we can live without runners - but a world with everything linked is bad - seriously tho - it will bring in spawns and with them bots, kill stealers and people who follow and annoy you Getefix 18:24, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
WTB more bolding in your article. Previously Unsigned 23:36, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
ANet has already stated that GW2 will be a persistent world with "extensive instanced gameplay". It'll be difficult for them to back on their word. You should add to your article -- assuming that there will indeed be a persistent world -- ways in which you think GW2 can prevent these things from happening or ways to alleviate the problems.
Also, remember that GW2 will be a new game with new features. I understand that introducing the persistent world is a big change for GW players, but maybe it's for the better. Again, with each of your bulletpoints, what can ANet do to prevent that?
Lastly, be sure to read the GW2 FAQ and other sources of information about GW2. [1] --Arngrim 01:45, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- I agree, you are basing your suggestion on Guild Wars, and we already know that GW2 is going to be a vastly different game. I would also agree that the elimination of "running" would be a good thing, if people want to play the game, they should play the game rather than looking for immediate shortcuts. I could never understand why my godson would go out and spend $50 on a game, and the first thing he'd do when he got it home was go on the internet and search for cheat codes. It seems to be defeating the purpose entirely. -- Wyn talk 07:35, 11 January 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with arngrim, maybe you should look back at your suggestion and give solutions to the issues that you've outlined, instead of the problems... and I feel for you Wyn, my older brother uses cheat codes and blocks some of the trophies from being unlocked on my ps3. It's really annoying. (124.169.226.59 23:58, 12 January 2010 (UTC))
- Oh my god, I laughed my ass off when reading Previously and Getefix's comments. You guys are the best. By the way, stupid suggestion. Almost everything you said has been countered in the FAQs. Do you think Anet are imebciles ? MadSkillz1o1 12:07, 17 February 2010 (UTC)

It's hard to imagine Guild Wars without instancing, but precisely because of it, we're losing out on a whole slew of aspects of Online Gaming. Yes, all those things you've mentioned COULD potentially happen, but ANet is some of the brightest minds to ever grace MMORPGs, and I'll attempt to dissect each of the points you've made and look at what ANet is doing to mitigate those effects, in case you haven't bothered to read any FAQs.
- Vanquishing (and with that titles)will vanish
- Yes, Vanquishing will be gone, but since that's directly related to ANet's decision to remove instancing, what's said here will be moot point. But what are you really complaining abut here? It sounds like you think GW2 will lack in achievements, and I can assure you ANet is better than that.
- The privacy of being able to play away from people who annoy you will be invaded
- Well...this is a big problem of all MMO games, and I imagine you'll end up dealing with it how you deal with it in real life. Though granted, it IS a game, and hence shouldn't be affected by such things, but I think ultimately it will benefit the community more than it hinders.
- Runners will be made redundant - causing an economic crisis in guild wars - a vertual recession
- People before have already posted excellent counter-points to this, But, I'll add on one more. An MMO's ability to generate "revenue" in game shouldn't be tied to providing services to minimize the effort of other people's progress through said game. If nothing else, that in itself destroys the economy of a good MMO. BUT, nobody said you couldn't be a runner still. I highly doubt you can get access to all areas of the game right off the bat.
- Easy, free map travelling will be stemmed
- Oh this is the easiest thing to remedy. There is no reason Map Traveling cannot exist. Just imagine it as a very powerful Shadow Step skill that only targets a town you've been to.
- One of the characteristics that makes guild wars seperate from World of Warcraft (possible sue because of simalarity) will die out
- This has been said before and I won't bother repeating it.
- People who steal kills will start to appear
- Steal kills? How? If you've read the articles at all you'll notice they've said that everyone who participate gets "Karma" and exp, and possibly gold on top of that (They've not mentioned loot at all, but Karma has to do something, and it might as well be the universal loot). There is just no reason to steal kills.
- Monster spawns - and with that the waiting list to kill monsters will begin
- I don't know about you, but I think enough information has been presented to imply that there is no more "random" enemy spawns, otherwise why would they even go to all the effort to design all the events as they are? At any given time, there's so much to do that there'd be no point of even having a random group of enemies with no purpose standing around. And that would take away from the world they're trying to paint anyway, which is "Constant Activity"
- The ability to make guild wars films will be cut
- I, too, regret the loss of ability to make controlled films, but hey, it's a new game now, and I don't expect it to be able to. Besides, if you're able to make a film out of GW2's perpetual activity, that means you're just that much better of a film-maker.
- The need for heroes and parties would be non-existant
- This is just making excuses...the only reason you needed them before is because all areas are made for a full party. Now that the game scales difficulty, that's no longer a problem.
- the people who won't leave you alone will start to show up
- Basically the same point as the second point, but I'll state here that ANet is not an idiot. At the very least you can just mute that person, and then how are they going to annoy you?
Trust them, the people who made the Guild Wars we love isn't going to suffer from that type of stupid mistakes. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:BluntWeapon (talk).
- Despite how bad your reasoning is, all you needed to say was "Anet already made the game engine, and it already supports this stuff. They can't change it without making a separate game." ~Shard 03:53, 16 June 2010 (UTC)
