A small flaw on instancing[edit]
Instancing isn't going away in Guild Wars 2. The explorable world and the cities will be persistent. We will still have instanced missions, dungeons, and most likely major quests. So there is no reason not to have instanced guild halls, and honestly more reason to have them than to not have them. I would honestly prefer clear sky rather than having guild halls blocking out the sun constantly.
With that said... having the option of an aerial guild hall would be rather sweat. The alliance guild halls being literally connected might also be nice. There is good thought here, but it's built off a somewhat faulty premise from how I interpret it.--Ryan Galen 16:22, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
As I stated, to my knowledge guild wars 2 will have ""limited"" instances, but still, if 500 guilds are created and each has a 10 megabyte-taking up space guild hall, it would end up as 5 gigabytes' space on the A-Net servers, when even more guilds can be continuously created. 5 gigabytes can go a long way, and can provide a lot less laggy of an experience in the long run.

This suggests that you don't want guilds to be account-based, but character-based, since we'll obviously be able to make characters from more than one race. I've seen other games do this kind of thing you're suggesting, and it's just annoying. I don't want race-restrictions on anything except starting areas, and even that ought to be limited but not completely restricted, I think, but I don't know exactly how they're implementing it so I can't really say. Why floating guilds? I can see that being used as one of the hall locations, but being the base for all of them? And having them actually exist somewhere on the world? First off, that would block out the sun with the number of incoming guilds. Second, The entire face of the ground below would have to be rendered every time you entered a guild hall, or at least a different background; that seems like a lot of work. Having an option for a flying hall would be cool (even if it would be over-used) but this idea just seems impractical, unless I'm missing the point somehow. And I think I very well may be; this idea doesn't make a lot of sense somehow, like it's just a vague concept. I'm only really suggesting this concept of floating, inter-connect-able guild halls. Still, I see your point, but I really don't think ascalonians would like charr guild halls floating around their airspace. It'd just build tensions, like an American governmental blimp floating above British airspace. The Author of This
