I agree with you here. I have tried this quest on my warrior and failed 5 times. I didnt try again. Its a stupid part of the game that requires half of the classes to spend 20K and 2 hours completing it and the other half 5 minutes. It should, optimally, have a balanced build for each of the classes. This means it loses its regen, keeps regen skills for degen classes, melee and armor skills for warriors and dervs, etc. Something that makes it challenging, maybe fail a few times, but possible with some luck and skill. - I agree as well. --MushaTalk 04:29, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Bring a mesmer or necro hero with anti melee. Interrupt Troll unguent with your martial class. Soothing Images can completely take his elite out of play. Since you know what your up against after trying once and he's not hard to counter with any party that can bring a single caster hero I really don't see the problem.Edit: Whoops, my ignorance is showing again. Rypofalem 04:49, 13 November 2009 (UTC)- This is a solo quest... Do you see the problem now? Pls go try it first and then come back to comment. Good luck interrupting a fast cast/recharge troll every 6 seconds. A Warrior or Paragon can't use any caster secondary strategy effectively, as they just don't have enough energy regen to be able to keep up with the anti-melee spells (empathy, ss, insidious, soothing img are all 10-15 nrg and don't last even half the time it takes to regen that much energy with only 2 pips), and their primaries aren't very good at handling an uber-tank solo opponent. Hell, I'd pay good money for a Rabid Bear Summoning Stone... Rose Of Kali 16:40, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
- Looks like and excellent start to me... I'm sure we'll find out within a month or two here whether or not Lin or Robert will be revisiting any of these quirky solo missions given that they've already made a commitment to rebalance other parts of the game that people aren't supposed to be soloing...
PS: to Pypofalem: I know you were only Theory-Crafting about Soothing Images because I actually tried it as a Martial primary and it failed HARD. It cost 15 and is NOT a viable soloing power since the Bear will just use Troll Ungent in the 2-second window you spend casting it. ...and then you have no energy left to do anything else that actually kills the Bear. The thing you're forgetting here is that it's a Boss class mob meaning that anything you put on it just wears off in half the time. The proper exploit right now to shut down the bear's Adren gain is to take Ebon Escape so you can teleport back out of the ring, and a ranged secondary d-shot or divert to shut down it's troll unguent spamming. --ilr 22:13, 13 November 2009 (UTC)- Ilr, did you notice he was talking about heroes? That's not theory-crafting, that's not having a clue. ^_^ I've given up on interrupting troll with a 5 second recharge and almost triple duration, I just degened the b**** to death. The build was less than cheap, though, and relied entirely on PvE skills EVSniper, Sig of Infection, Ruby Djinn, Pain, Defy Pain, Lion's Comfort, Optional, Optional. Warrior's energy wasn't quite enough to use Sniper/Djinn on recharge, but was enough to still kill it with rank 4 Asura and 4 Vanguard. Rose Of Kali 23:00, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
