Very interesting. -- FreedomBoundUser Freedom Bound Sig.png 17:55, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Basically a one-way Xunlai storage? Hm... I would definitely purchase it in the GW store if it existed. I would dump all my gifts of the huntsman in there and take them with my post-Searing characters. The unclaimed items panel could be used. Talk to an NPC in pre, talk to another in post, and if the unclaimed items bo is not currently shown, the items are sent there. Not bad at all. Pre[edit]

The game and its people dislike change to presearing for the most part. One of the most appealing things about pre-searing is its simplicity and beauty. All these new addons they're tacking onto it, while neat, are soiling the uniqueness of pre. However, that said, a one-way storage would be an interesting idea but it caters a bit too much to the permapre players. I make a permapre every now and then myself, when I attain a spare spot, but giving them things like this... it just encourages these players to limit a great part of the game. I know some people in the permapre community that have nothing but perma's as characters... So giving them things like this just furthers their reasons to do so. I don't mean any offense (sort of), but these players are quite useless.

No, none taken at all. Actually, it is an interesting perspective. Honestly, I think it can be argued both ways. I just decided, while the idea was on my mind, to go ahead and tack it up here. Anyhow, all thoughts welcome of course. I think you made a great point there as well, if I understand you correctly. I also agree that it does cater a lot to permapre players (in fact, it would solely be catering to them, more or less... or LDoA title seekers that want to still give their other chars useful items they pick up). Change is better than stagnation. Anything new anywhere is good, and anything new in pre-Searing is great. Nicholas is one of the best things that have happened in GW, both Sandford and the Traveler. You forget something, there must be a character picking the items. Why would anybody prefer to send the items to the future? For post-character to use - or sell - them. And the both the uses and the gold from the sales would benefit only post-searing characters. So it's actually a measure to do stuff both in pre and post, not just to stick at pre. Thaty was exactly my point when I came up with the idea, Mith. Thank you for pointing it out more eloquently than I could. Saraphimknight 02:25, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
This isn't much of an issue really. The idea mentions purchase in the GW store. Why not simply purchase a character slot, and create a disposeable character to move stuff to post searing? Most of my guild have a presearing character and keep an empty character slot specifically to help each other move items like excess dyes and unsalvaged runes. the cost of a character slot is likely about what such a "time capsule" feature would cost, and you likely have someone trustworthy enough in your guild (or you need to look for a new guild). I do that with a second account, but it is not practical. I need two computers, since I refuse to use third party programs, as all players should, and every time I send items to the 'future' I have to make all the required quests, which becomes more annoying the more I have to do that. I would rather pay the money for the time capsule, that the money for a character slot that I could use also for other things, since it would save me so much trouble. I would prefer...[edit]

A presearing xunlai independent of the normal xunlai, which would have 1-2 pages where you could place items, and any items you didn't pick up before leaving would be put into the unclaimed items box. This is a nice idea, but really, if I want to move something from pre to post, I just use a seperate account or ask a friend to take it for me; I'm not sure how effective it would be when you take into account the fact that almost everybody has a second account or at least a friend that can make a throwaway character to bring stuff forward. Still, it sounds interesting, and would definitely speed up and simplify the transfer. --Gah_ 01:44, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

I think you make some excellent points actually. However, at the same time, in my personal group of Guild Wars friends, I know over 40 people who have only a single Guild Wars account. Now, I am not arguing that they would all benefit from this system directly, but if that is any metric to go by, then it is more than likely that there are actually quite a large number of players who do not have separate accounts. Hence, it would be usable. And yes, I completely agree, it would completely speed up the transfer. Saraphimknight 02:25, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
I would prefer seeing that the box just acts like a 10-slot Xunlai Storage for pre-Searing, and still have no restriction on what you can deposit or remove from it at that point, but can be accessed in post-Searing where you can choose what items to take out and if you want to take out those items. Make it a large, one-time fee, paid to someone in pre-Searing, preferably some kind of Xunlai Agent, to have your own mini-account. The Xunlai service would then allow you to access this in post-Searing for a similar fee. Shayne Hawke 15:25, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
The access from post-Searing to such a Xunlai tab would have to be one way only. Taking items, never putting them. And the rest of the tab would have to be locked in pre-Searing. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 22:27, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

A Further Note[edit]

If anyone has any ideas for this they would like to add, post it in the discussion area and I'll move it to the actually main page, with giving you your original signature. Actually, if you can post your own add-ons to the idea on the actually feedback page (I don't know cause I haven't tried it yet), you can go ahead and do that as well. I lay no claim to this idea, obvious by the rules here. Feel free to add to the idea or such as you like. The only thing I ask is that the main part of the idea I originally wrote stay in place to foster more discussion. Saraphimknight 02:28, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

I like this idea...[edit]

This is actually also a great idea for those who wish to get the "Defender of Ascalon" title… Taka Ragranok 21:24, 11 April 2010 (UTC)
