Feedback talk:User/Sekkem/Account Upgrade - Primary Profession Change

I think this would be great, getting back to all the areas alone on a new char takes so many hours... and its quite repatative. GW would make alot of money and gain interest in GW again if they did this - would help for their GW II release I bet. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 90.220.138.87 (talk).

I agree, interesting idea. I think for armors from different campaigns that aren't available for the new profession (e.g. Elite Kurzick sin switching to Dervish) they could pick the default basic max armor. If they were given an elite set just like that, they could just keep jumping and "buy" the armor section in the Hall of Monuments. I admit that would be a terrible way to go about it, but it'll happen. Oh, and profession-specific insignias and runes should just be stripped, but basic ones (Superior Vigor, Vitae) should stay. --Kyoshi (Talk) User Kyoshi sig.png 17:02, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
That's a good idea Kyoshi, especially regarding the runes and insignias. I also agree that armour needs to be done so that it can't be exploited by people paying for the Profession Change just to get things in the Hall of Monuments. The whole idea of the Profession Change is to allow people to carry on working on things with a character that they may have gotten bored with (or that may no longer suit their playing style) and, as you rightly say, not to gain Monuments simply by paying for them. =)--Sekkem 17:09, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
Exactly. --Kyoshi (Talk) User Kyoshi sig.png 17:25, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

YES PLEASE. My main (who is also my very first character) is useless in her Primary profession, because I didn't realize that I can't Warrior to save my life. I don't want to remake her, because... O_o yeah, no. Too old, too much invested in her by now. This would be splendiferously wonderful. Lady Chani 10:03, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

Lets hope someone from ANet notices and thinks the same thing ;)--Sekkem 18:22, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

I don't think they'll want to do this... could hurt the sale of slots. Previously Unsigned 10:47, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

I assume that this could be overcome with tactical pricing, by setting the price for the Profession Change to something higher than a new character slot.
A glance at the NCSoft store suggests that a Character Slot is £5.99. The Name Change by comparison is £8.99. By pricing a Primary Profession Change also at £8.99 it would add the incentive to buy a new character slot instead if you only want to try a different profession or make a new character. However, if you really want to change your primary profession, you could buy the more expensive extra.
I remember a time when, if I wanted to change my characters name, I had to remake her. The addition of the Name Change upgrade allowed me to do this outside of buying a new character slot (or deleting a character), and I hope that the Profession Change suggestion would also be beneficial in a similar way, by offering something that is useful and doesn't encroach on other upgrades offered.--Sekkem 13:42, 1 March 2010 (UTC)

The grestest idea ever![edit]

My main character is a male elementalist, but all the armor are... ugly.. and I want to change to mesmer but it's not possible yet! He has 20 maxed titles, obby armor, chaos gloves, and all of his heros are runed nicely and his weapons on his heros are perfect, so I can't delete him. I think to solve the armor problems it could just be like when you delete a character, if there isnt a version of this armor for that primary profession change, it's worthless. for the runes: you could possible have to take off the armor that has the attribute upgrades prior to changing the primary profession. I emailed ANet asking, they said to suggest it but I found it here, I hope they do this because It would be a smart idea! ~Feb.4th, 2011 by Fabian Torrent

I'd have to agree. At this point in the game, they should just open it up, and recognize that some people would like to try a new class, but not spend days / weeks / months building them up. I've already seen the game all the way through several times. I seriously do not need or want another new character start. I'd pay $8.99 for this, but not $20.
