- The Rings remove gold, but not in any relevant amounts, given the time they're available. 24.197.253.243 02:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Option 2[edit]
It seems to be the better suggestion. Frankly all games should try to avoid nonparticipation elements of regular gameplay. First, there's no fun in a game that plays itself or that rewards players without them doing anything. Second, random chance is always a poor design decision (though admitedly the easiest to program), it alienates players due to the boredom of being unable to 'get better' at playing a game. Third, as ArenaNet does not charge an hourly fee (or monthly thankfully) to play, there's little to no logic in encouraging players to sit online when they're not actually playing the game or any derived part of it. Besides, as far as money pits go, the game's got far too many as is, even if we're only talking about those with title progress or which eventually improve item retention odds. - Ok, so AFK = bad, un/lucky points+gold sink = good. A small bit of logic will tell you that you need to remove the AFK part. Make a betting system of buying a maximum of so many tickets per account per day, and let people go bet them all in one shot (make up your own version of what you're betting on, I don't care). The returns of tickets and title points should be about the same as sitting AFK with the same number of tickets, and the max number of tickets available to purchase per day cannot exceed the average amount you'd need to spend 12-15 hours AFK. This removes the annoying AFK lag and lets people earn their precious points and spend their precious gold. Of course, you could come up with a plethora of other ideas like this, the main underlying point is to remove the AFKing and keep the title point gold sinking. I do think that the gold sinking through pointless titles is good, because every little bit helps, and it's what retains the value of gold, I cannot stress enough how successful the GW gold economy is compared to the rampant inflation plaguing other games.
