Guide to Roleplay
This is a bare bones outline at this moment. I will be putting in some IC examples at a later time.
The easiset thing to do while roleplaying and probably also the hardest is to simply try to follow some real life rules.
- If you have never talked to a person before then you can't possibly know their names. Yes you can see their name if you hold down the ALT or CTRL key from across the zone but IRL you can't do that so... Walk up to that person, introduce yourself, and carry on a conversation like anyone else in real life.
- Telepathy vs Telekinesis ~ You cannot move objects with telepathy. During roleplay you cannot slap, hit, punch, pick up, throw, or interact with distant objects or people as if you had telekinesis. The telepathic link of Alliance Chat is for sending words, concepts, and images only. Not actions.
Alliance Chat Storyline
Arioch, the original patron demon of Lord Elric VIII (the main character in the series) tortured Elric VIII by gifting him with god like powers and then having him deal with moral conflicts and delighted in the agony it put Elric through. In our days Arioch doesn't have the reach or the power that he once had. Something about the fact that gods only exist if you have faith or believe in them. In our time Arioch's best try is to torture the decedants with the voices of their friend's and fellow guild mates. As each character or player comes into contact with Elric, any of his relatives, or any officer in the guild... Arioch bestows the power of telepathy upon them.
- While in character it is suggested that you turn off all other chat channels.
Requesting Assistance
Not everyone is the strongest roleplayer. Some of us will join and have no idea where to start. So the easiest thing to do is to ask for help. Imagine yourself in the situation your character faces. A mission is ahead of you and you can't do it alone. You need help and you need to ask your fellow guild and alliance members.
Instad of just shouting "Anyone for Gate of Pain HM" in alliance or guild chat. Try making a plea for help as if your character really needed help, not like the human being that is sitting at a computer playing a video game. Think about your request before you even log on if you can.
Create a User page
Create and maintain a user page that outlines the details of your character's history, storyline, and possibly explain some personality quirks. Why did that character choose that profession? (for example)
If you need help leave me a message here or if you want some examples check out my Characters. Check the "more info" section below the picture of each character.
Create a Party
Try to group up with another guild or alliance member who does roleplay. Instead of trying to finish a mission, go do something in normal mode with them just for the "fun of it". Yea thats right. If you are in this guild we sometimes do something just for the fun of it.
Title Hunting
Yes you can even roleplay your title hunt. Want to max out your reputation with the EotN factions so your PvE skills rock? Get together with a guild or alliance member and work on it together.
Multiple Characters
Everyone has more than one character. We start with four empty character slots even if you only bought Prophecies and never bought anything else. All four of them can't be completely maxed on everything (if they are and you can't find anything else to do... you might be in the wrong guild) so introduce your "other" characters to the guild.
