Established in February 2006, Untimely Demise (guild tag: [Err了]), a Taiwan-region guild in the online game Guild Wars™, consists of friendly, helpful, American-region players interested in both PvP and PvE. We extend membership to patient, mature, friendly players from any region whom we've had a chance to evaluate through teamplay in PvE or PvP environments. Please see our recruitment page for more details.

Recruitment

Thank you for considering our guild. We invite patient, mature, intelligent, friendly people who enjoy both PvP and Cooperative (PvE) play (or at least can refrain from disparaging our PvE players) to apply for membership. We value smart, cooperative gameplay and a willingness to play different roles on any given team (so we hope you have at least one PvP-only character slot that you can reroll as the need arises).

Why join us?

As a well-established, two-year-old guild, you can rest assured that your guild will stick around through the highs and the lows.

We enjoy all facets of competitive PvP (and as our currently low rating will tell you, this includes Automated Tournaments) as well as hardcore PvE.

We try to foster an environment for developing your playing skills. Our members-only section offers a build database that all members can contribute to. Members can create their own team builds and post comments on other builds.

We do not jeopardize the guild's ladder rating in a tournament match or equivalent high K-value match unless the players on the team have had a chance to work together and know how their build works.

We have a Ventrilo server running so that our groups can stay organized with voice chat.

We have a "friends and family" policy, meaning real-life friends and family members may join without going through the full recruitment process, regardless of experience or skill level.

We do not use a traditional "core" for GvG. We establish teams for different events ahead of time and have them practice together. This allows players with busy schedules the flexibility to enjoy competitive play without the need to maintain the same activity level from month to month. For daily play, we have a rotation policy when more than 8 people are online and all want to GvG. This gives everyone a chance to improve their play and gives us a stronger player base to work with for Automated Tournaments.

Our current player base consists of members located in the United States or Canada. You will probably have more fun with our guild if you can log in during evening hours in the Pacific Time Zones. We normally GvG at 7:00-9:00 PM Pacific Time nightly and 2PM-5PM Pacific Time on Sunday afternoons, depending on player availability.

Requirements

We have only three requirements:

1. We require you to treat your fellow guild members, alliance members, and our guests with respect. We are adults and we understand that people will make mistakes (although you should be learning from them). We do not tolerate harassment, and we frown upon elitism towards your fellow guildmates. If you are prone to making derogatory comments on in-game channels or rude noises over voice chat, drawing dirty illustrations on the radar, or engaging in any other annoying behaviors, please do not apply.

2. Please be enthusiastic about PvP, open to constructive criticism, willing to work at improving your play level, and willing to try different team builds.

3. You may not violate ArenaNet's code of conduct or otherwise engage in activities that will tarnish the reputation of the guild, the alliance, or its members.

That's it. Basically, follow the "Golden Rule" and you'll be fine.

While we would appreciate it if you have all of your skills and runes unlocked or have PvP titles to show off, we do not actually require either at the moment. Just be honest about your skill level so that we can tailor our builds appropriately, and be willing to put in the work and time it takes to improve your level of play.

We do not currently have an activity requirement (since our members tend to be older and have real-life responsibilities), but it'd be nice if you could join us at least once a week for PvP.

How to Join

If you've played with two or more of us before and we remember you in a good way, just message one of those people in-game and let them know that you'd like to join.

If you haven't played with us before, please fill out our application form on GuildCafe.com, or message an officer in-game for the questions. We have also posted a condensed Guild Charter there which basically spells out the above in greater detail. The full charter just has more specifics on slot rotation for GvG if we have too many people who want to play at any given time.

Our highest priority is to make sure that everyone will get along.

This approach results in a small and slow-growing guild, but it also saves us from hurling too many expletives at each other over the Guild channel or voice chat.
