Dialogue[edit]

I don't know whether it is worthy of being noted as a bug, but I ran straight to the cave under the effects of fall back, and the dialogue with the students did not trigger, and neither did the yeti spawns. I fixed it by leaving the heroes with the students and running back, which caused the dialogue and spawns. Simooshy 01:49, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Likely a glitch... as for the dialogue, i love it! Poor Mai aspires to her bloodline, yet is dealing with "picky sidekicks" (as demonstrated by their skillbars). Kisai with her horrible Gust synergy and "pyrophobia"; Yuun without a Quicksot and horrible at Needling Shot. ^_^ --Falconeye 07:06, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
i had a similar bug: i killed all waves but it didn't trigger the dialogue 93.146.151.226

More of the same from me 67.158.16.91 19:09, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
Had the same issue on my second char through, but the quest wouldn't progress after spawns were killed and had to restart.--Stratzvyda 23:40, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
This happened to me as well. Can we mark this as a bug?76.88.127.158 00:23, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

Hmm. This worked well: Bring healers/protectors. Before triggering Meijun's dialogue, head directly to the cave, eliminating all mobs in your way. No enemies should be in the cave itself. Flag all of your heroes to the center of the cave, where the captives spawn. Then (without removing the flag) return to Meijun and trigger the dialogue. Be careful; there may be an oni on the way (if you didn't kill it on the way to the cave. Then return to the cave. It doesn't really matter if you die, as long as your heroes have sufficient healing capabilities. I did this with my own character (fire nuke), Razah (Soul Twisting/Shelter/Union/Displacement), Ogden (Unyielding Aura), Dunkoro(same as Ogden), Master of Whispers (typical MM, but with Heal Area in addition to Blood of the Master), Vekk (fire nuke), Zhed (fire nuke), and M.O.X. (avatar of melandru). I did die on the way in (eles are squishy), but it didn't matter in the least. May take a while, but at least it works. --Bladebyte

I didn't need to travel all the way from Breaker Hollow to trigger the quest from the north as advised on main page. After leaving Aspenwood Gate, I just headed due north over the bridge and around the hill to the yeti cave (couple of groups of wallows on the way), then killed everything on the way back to trigger the quest. Then my team simply ran back and dropped a whole bunch of spirits and wards around the NPCS, and just let the Yetis come in to meet their doom. Over in minutes. I LOLed at "Make with the fire". XD MeiOfTheNorth 04:02, 13 November 2011 (UTC)

Tips to Complete[edit]

I failed this the first time running my nuke ele, but once I changed him to E/Mo bonder, the quest went smoothly. Just cast protective bond on the three students, along with life bond on miku, then use ether renenwal, aura of restoration, and elemental lord and spam burning speed to keep your energy up and the bonds active. Soul Twisting Rit IMO.--Life Infusion «T» 18:02, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Go hard mode, the npcs have lvl 20 and the yeti are a pushover. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 18:06, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
Is that a joke? This quest is much more difficult in hard mode because there are so many more foes. OK, each yeti is a pushover. A bunch of yeti wailing on your poor helpless NPC allies is not a pushover.--71.185.41.90 07:20, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
The hard mode version of the quest (A Favor Returned (Hard mode)) has more enemies, but if you're doing the normal mode version in hard mode, it makes the NPCs you need to protect tougher while not significantly strengthening the yetis. It's really not necessary though, bring a soul twisting rit and they survive just fine. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 07:22, 19 February 2012 (UTC)

2 enemies?[edit]

in the walktrough section of the page the second way of doing this says go back and all you have to do is kill 2 enemies, these mobs are always in 3s, including that one spawn mob, someone fancy changing it to that effect, i know it doesnt really make a difference to the quest, but facts are facts  :) Spark-TBa 20:42, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

the group it refers consists of two yetis. try it yourself 20:38, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
to whomever it was that replied to me, i have done it myself, although i am refering to HM, forgot to mention that, the walkthrough section may possibly need updating to the effect that in HM the mob is 3 in size. eg.. Then backtrack to the start and run in again, all you have to do then is kill two Yetis (3 in HM) and the quest is finished.Spark-TBa 17:44, 13 October 2011 (UTC)

Alternative method[edit]

That alternative method does not work, bugs and is simply inefficient. I suggest taking it out of the page. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.28.229.104 (talk) at 17:21, 2012 March 31 (UTC).

I would prefer to have confirmation that it is bugged first and not just being done right before taking it off the page, can anyone else confirm that it does not work as intended anymore, i did alternative method (think it was this one) and succeeded on first attempt.Spark-TBa 12:21, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Confirmed - does not work. ~~

The alternative method does indeed work, at least it did for me during several tests in NM. Some suggested changes though: a) Kill all the enemies (including the hidden Oni, but not triggering the initial dialogue) from the outpost to the closest cave entrance; b) Flag your heroes just outside the entrance, go back to trigger the initial dialogue, and run back to the middle of the cave (unflagging when you get back to your heroes, speed boost not needed); c) When the initial dialogue ends, the yeti will trigger but your three NPCs will appear but remain invulnerable. Start killing off the yeti, starting with the larger group to the east, then go back through the cave and finish off the fewer groups to the south; and d) Double back through the cave, and there should only be two more yeti at the other cave entrance. If the NPCs' dialogue ever starts unintentionally, rush back to the cave. After you kill off the yeti, go back towards the outpost and return, which should trigger the dialogue and the quest should complete. Lord Flynt 17:22, 12 February 2013 (UTC)

Return of the Yeti[edit]

Perhaps a note should be added telling people to abandon the Return of the Yeti, as Arrahhsh Mountainclub will spawn and kill one of your allies before you can get to them. --Driganic Darkness

try VoS panic & 100b[edit]

if your the player you can try to use vos & 100b and have a hero panic which allows you to shutdown and kill the yetis very efficiently since they like to ball in 2's & 3's

Alt Method Explained / Better Detail[edit]

  • Avoid approaching the Jade Brotherhood NPC but rather make your way to the Yeti cave (For those like me, unfamiliar with the area, the Yeti cave is alongside the snowline, the entrance just before the protrusion of foothills on the map). Don't go hunting any Yeti yet! If you see any, avoid them for now.
  • Once you find the cave, make your way out the east exit, and head towards the Jade NPC far enough to trigger his speech. Return to the cave directly (no aggro) and the villagers will appear. They're fine - don't worry about them yet.
  • Wander around the exits of the cave and kill the local Yeti. Start in the East. Once you feel you've cleared local threats, head out the South exit of the cave and follow the snowline downhill towards the Jade Brotherhood. You'll encounter a roaming group of about 5 or 6 Yeti (you can skip the group with Tonton in it or kill them for the morale boost).
  • Once the roaming group of Yeti are killed, the quest advances - Hurry back to the cave. Use your "u" map. The villagers will become allies (in your party chart) and two more Yeti will spawn at the east entrance. Kill these two and you're done. Watch the dialogue.

regarding the bug note:[edit]

Actually it's not your location, it's killing the five yeti down at the bottom of the hill, who are walking up towards their prey.

New alternative route map[edit]

I updated the map for the "alternative route" because the one posted originally was really confusing. Hopefully it makes sense, but I'm open to changes in order to make things clear. It fits pretty well with the description given on the main page, and (hopefully) gives players an idea of what they need to do. --Scythe Of Wars (talk) 16:16, 29 April 2020 (UTC)

New map is excellent -I think my original was just a screenshot of after having completed the mission, not really thinking about the route- route is fine but I think the description of the alt route could do with an update to reflect the coloured dots on your map (presumably just follow the legend directions in order?) -Chieftain Alex 16:32, 29 April 2020 (UTC)
Thanks! I updated the description for the alternative route a little bit - not many changes but it helps walk players through the order of the legend on the map. And I added a "just follow the legend" part to the description, so hopefully it's pretty clear. --Scythe Of Wars (talk) 14:56, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
