Talk:A Treaty's a Treaty (Hard mode)
So how's everyone doing on this? I was doing fine and dandy until I hit this wall. Granted, I only tried 3 times before posting on here, but yeah. Dual panics possibly? I'm already gonna stick in some self hex removal given how you'll have spiteful spirit on you nonstop after a minute or so. 24.74.162.94 19:56, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Ok well the main problem with this quest is that most people run spirits - and spirits get blocked by the frickin wall. I took an ST rit with Shelter, Union and pain/shadowsong, SoS resto hybrid, MM with prots, panic with chaos storm and an IV resto nec.
- Make sure to retreat when you're being pushed by 3 mobs of tengu at once + micro protective spirits initially - make sure the spirits aren't blocked, if they are, recast. :/ take out their mesmers (panic) and monks (ZB and heals) first. only hex removal I had was Shatter hex on the Panic. (I was running daggerspam sin) I also used a grentch summon for a laugh (disease was pro). --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 20:41, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- I was running spirits, but doing all my fighting outside the wall. Worked great in NM. HM I get swarmed. Sandstorm and SS and Tengu who just refuse to go down. I'll try that though when I get a chance, thanks. 24.74.162.94 21:29, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- Oh and when you get to the ministry bit, make sure you have spirits set up before they go aggressive, and don't go near their dervish with vow of strength (blow all minions up almost instantly (I wiped twice here)) + if you step back enough then the purity coming through the gate ball up so you can panic them >.< --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 21:33, 30 September 2011 (UTC)
- So, dual panics seemed to be the answer. Was almost pathetically easy sitting far back from the wall, with a soul twister hidden off to the side, while a scythe + strength of honor basically clocked down every tengu that came through. 2 deaths, and 4 attempts makes me wish I'd just tried that before posting here. Regardless, thanks.24.74.162.94 18:13, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- Lmfao, I got lucky nas hell with this. I still ran dual panics and an ST, which was a really great idea. still though, when "backup" arrived, I found myself with an allied AoTL Necro for the rest of the quest. The NPCs just came out right I guess, because I beat it on my first try O_o76.88.127.158 06:13, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
- i took discord necros and 2 spirit rits, and me as a caller type ele build, positioned the spirits at the point where there range would reach the door, then flagged heros slightly behind and spread so that panic wont splatter them. This caused all the sensali to ball at the door making part one very easy, once they have been killed move back till your roughly at the bottom of the hill the storage is normally on and reset up heros in the same way. Wehn the ministry people attack your heros should be ready and waiting for them. no cons or stones used HM.Spark-TBa 10:38, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

Can't believe that Chieftain Alex said "Free Birds" was easy and had problems here... I was wiped the first time because I took too offensive set of heroes and (as others) brought the fight out of the wall. But second attempt was directly successful: a spirit spam to block entrance of the city, a spirit communing (with ST), a classic panic mesmer, a fire ele with heal and 2 nec (1 MM, 1 Curse/Restoration)... not single death on my side (except the A NPC)... - Derp. random spawning allies will help or hinder you. I randomly generated a team of tengu with no casters on when i won -_- File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 12:08, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Annoying[edit]
Ok...so if you only bring a couple people with rez and they die, it will auto-fail the quest immediately since there's no rez shrine...so I had 5 ministry left and 4 heroes and it failed me (Usaf1a8xx 02:09, 8 November 2011 (UTC))
- I'm afraid that's just a part of the game. An obvious potential resolvement of your issue would be to make sure every player (including your heroes) have a ressurection skill on their bar. --Wingsy 02:38, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah stinks you have to waste a slot tho...(Usaf1a8xx 02:49, 8 November 2011 (UTC))
Random[edit]
I noticed with Free Birds that random mob spawns were either easy or hard, after running it several times there were def easier spawns than others. So to say its easy cause you got a lucky spawn isn't very helpful. I followed the HM guide which was a little bit more specific the nm guide and finally got through it. If all your gonna do is post here to brag how easy of a time you had please don't bother. People look here to find solutions.
How I did it on first try[edit]
I'm not sure if the AI was made easier or if I just had the right hero team builds and stayed in the right place, but got this on the first try and never experienced a hard time during any of it.
I was a fire ele, had two rits, a paragon (didn't seem needed because I didn't retreat at all), a necro and a full panic mesmer. There is a big bush in the middle next to a wall just inside...I spaced out the Rits and the paragon just behind the bush, not too far apart. I put the rest of the party just behind them. I ran up and back a little during the fights, called some targets...might not have needed to. I didn't micro anything. I did have Infuse Health that I used a few times on the NPC's but that might not have been needed, either. I only lost the Assassin NPC and only one time. That was the only loss. Nothing ever really took a lot of health from any of the hero team. I don't know if it how they spawn on this quest or not, since I only did it once.Baron Pierre Lestat 08:56, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Yeah this can be affected by the random nature of tengu builds just like Warning the Angchu. glad you got a good set of spawns though ;) File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.jpg Chieftain Alex 22:23, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
- Completed it in first try too, and it was easy (well, really it was the second try but during the first try I went outside of the village to fight, bad idea :P). I was a Sin/Derv "tank" (increased crit. chance, critical defenses, mystic regen. and dagger combo with I'm the strongest, RoJ + Strength of Honor (microed to target only my character) smiter, Ghostly Might communing Spirit Spammer, SoS Channeling/Restoration hybrid, N/Rt healer and Panic mesmer. You really don't need a MM to exploit corpses as the allied Tengu will exploit a lot of corpses too with their own Aura of the Lich. The trick is to place the spirits near the gate (but not IN the gate) with a good angle to attack incomming Sensali, then NEVER follow the melee allies outside the town (which is what I did the first time, trying to be a hero...), they aren't of much help so don't worry if they die because you didn't save them. Exit the town just to ocasionally finish a necromancer if you're fighting too many minions and your spirit battery and heros should do the rest. It worked for me and I only had casualties during the Ministry attack because I didn't flag the heroes far enough and was a bit distracted reading the dialogues. Lokheit 13:04, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
