Species?[edit]

I was unsure what to put for species, because when I looked on the Undead page, it said that Carven Effigies were still unconfirmed to be Undead. If anyone knows what species to put that'd be great >.< I was just a bit unsure. --Blobulator 17:39, 21 April 2007 (EDT)

Nevermind, I see someone fixed up the missing sections anyway :P --Blobulator 17:54, 21 April 2007 (EDT)
Testing in hard mode indicates that they count for both the Elemental Hunt and Undead Hunt bounties. -- Gordon Ecker 01:22, 22 April 2007 (EDT)
Which I find very strange, since they don't take double holy damage. Hm. I guess a Deathbane weapon would be useful here. --Dirigible 03:04, 22 April 2007 (EDT)
Deathbane says they're undead as well. Which makes these guys part of two species? Messy. --Dirigible 08:04, 22 April 2007 (EDT)

Like Rotscale - who is allegedly undead and yet suffers fleshy conditions and does not take double damage from holy sources, perhaps they belong to the species known simply as DevTeam Oversight or "bugged" :P User Fox.jpg Fox (talk|contribs) 09:31, 22 April 2007 (EDT)

There's lots of fleshy undead, including Executioners, Grasping Ghouls and Flesh Golems. -- Gordon Ecker 20:22, 27 April 2007 (EDT)
More to the point, how do we represent that nicely? as it is, there doesn't seem to be a pretty way to show 2 species. --Wongba 00:58, 6 May 2007 (EDT)

Have you tried with Edge of extinction tests? Maybe they are just non-fleshy undead, and they bounty is bugged. There are some Dhuum demons that do not trigger Dhuum battle rewards. MithranArkanere 18:44, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

I think that they are just sarcophagus carven out of elementals like Boulders or Mesas, with an undead inside... like Dwarven ride Dolyaks or Grey beasts. MithranArkanere 11:58, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

They are Constructs, as confirmed by emily diehl here: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User_talk:Emily_Diehl/Official_information_archive#Undead_anomalies...

Great, now we just need to get the difference between constructs and elementals... I say constructs are 'made' and elementals are 'natural'. MithranArkanere 22:13, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

We know now that they are elementals. In lore they are 'constructs', but not as its type, but as what they are. Just like Siege Golems, they are 'elemental construts' of the 'elemental' species. They also drop mummy wrappings, but that's an army trophy, not an species trophy (Like Mursaat Tokens, Luxon and Kurzcik trophies or Orrian Undead Army Decayed Orr Emblems). MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 16:27, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Maybe they're ghosts in artificial golem bodies, sort of like the shiro'ken, the Tin Man or Chucky, they look like statues, which is supported by the names of the generic monsters which use the model (Carven Effigy, Ancient Effigy and Ancient Statue). -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 09:37, 12 May 2009 (UTC)
If they are elementals, they can't be ghosts. They are elemental. That means that some elemental spirit animated them like happens with other elemental constructs like the Forgemaster or the Stone Summit Siege Golems. MithUser MithranArkanere Star.pngTalk 10:43, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Are (Carven Effigy, Ancient Effigy and Ancient Statue) members of the same family/creature subtypes of undead elementals? --Falconeye 06:47, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

You tend to relate them just because they look similar(reused models and similar names in this case). They are not a 'subtype' of anything. They are elementals, and they are part of the undead army. And that's all. Oh, and someone reused the Carven Effigy page to make the other two. It says something about 'bounties' in the other two pages, but in the areas where they appear, bounties are not give per creature classification(undead, titan, monolith...), but per region and plot affiliation (Delver, Agent, etc).
