Talk:Curse of the Nornbear
How to start?[edit]
Who does one talk with to start this? Banaticus 19:41, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sif... forget full name, all i kno is its a npc in sifhalla. --Hellbringer 02:14, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
Quest or mission?[edit]
So is the a quest or a mission, if it is a quest the NPC header does not belong. If this is a mission it shouldn't be using the Quest Infobox. There are a couple others like this, can anybody shed some light on this. --Sktbrd341 13:14, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- It is a quest, but it is a special kind of quest with it's own instance. The question is do we want that information stored here? Or on another linked page. --Lemming 14:03, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- The information would have to be some where if it has its own instance just like missions do. I don't feel there should be another page just for one section. But I also think editors that are not familiar with the formatting of quest articles might start added it to other quests that don't have this special case. --Sktbrd341 14:06, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- This quest for example teleports you to a position in an explorable area, certain chunks are blocked off and the area has special npc's and monsters for the quest. Almost making it a seperate area. I can not recall what the in game redirects do. May have to check on Friday. --Lemming 14:17, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

- The log lists it as a quest, but it has all the elements of a mission, and as such, we either split it and the other missions into name(quest) and name(explorable area), or we format it as a mission. People seem to object to both, tho'....Backsword 18:55, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- it IS a mission for this simple reasons:
- it has its own map icon.

- You might also want to look at: List of Eye of the North missions which clearly indicates it as a mission... -- Alexanderpas Talk|Contrib|Guild 12:08, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, that's my fault :D the chart was created for use both here and on GuildWiki, their version of the article has a note saying that it's not currently known if the sequences in question are technically missions or not, while our version only has the flowchart and the note about the chart being incomplete. Anyway, I've brought up the issue at Guild Wars Wiki talk:Formatting#Eye of the North mission / quest / mini-mission sequences. -- Gordon Ecker 09:53, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Spelling Consistency[edit]
I'm noticing a few things on the main page of this article:
- "Volven" and "Volfen" are both used. Which is it supposed to be? Seems inconsistent and weird, reading it.
- "Involk" is used in one of the objectives, though this seems incorrect. Should this not be "invoke?"
- "Persue" is used in one of the objectives, though this (again) seems incorrect. Isn't it "pursue?"
Just trying to help make the page look better. =D 24.113.62.55 20:24, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
maybe the norn are preticularily bad spellers?
Non completion will allow you to continue[edit]
I noticed you don't have to complete the quest Curse of the Nornbear in order to complete the Norn story, I just continued playing, I got the quest "A gate to far" then "Blood Washes Blood", and accepted reward, without finishing the Curse of the Norn Bear, is this normal? - thats because you have to complete all 3 to complete the arc. you can do it in any order. same applies for the different arcs--The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:66.33.197.241 (talk).
Repeating[edit]
You do not need to visit the shrine - just go to the Nornbear's spawn locations.
Does not work for me at all. He doesnt spawn at the last location for me even though I visited his other spawn locations.--Tommy Mag 15:46, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Worked fine for me. 1. i went to scrying pool to get quest. 2. went to sifhala and started mission from "sif shadowhunter" and got transported out side (i didnt walk out). 3. i went to the 1st spawn local just below the green star.I went to the second spawn location up the first ramp just a little further south. I went to the last most southern spawn location.(3 total spawn locations), you finish him off at the third location)..
- I would like to alter this section to expand it... You can do this method the first time you do this mission (not just on a repeat) if you happen to know the locations... so far I have done it with 3 additional characters whom I have taken to the EOTN Quests... 65.6.156.101 10:58, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
When you repeat the mission and you have jora in your party her name does not change so there are 2 joras. T-MAN10:08, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
Warning[edit]
Recently an unknown person wrote "Warning!-If you have completed this quest and have some how abandoned it you will now not be able to complete "Eye of the North"." on the walkthrough section.. I have deleted the sentence for now, but is this a correct assertion - and what exactly does the mystery person mean? If it is true, some clarification / explanation would be appreciated, if not, it can be safely deleted.--Son of Batman 14:22, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
A bug![edit]
I know this is 2020 and nobody plays this any more, but still...
When fighting the Nornbear in all instances before the final kill, I found that he never de-spawned after reaching sub-50%, necessitating a quick retreat. This may be due to the OP nature of modern hero builds, spiking the poor bugger down before he has a chance to teleport away. — snograt 12:38, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
