Talk:Defender's Zeal
Does anyone else think this is similar enought to Insidious Parasite to deserve a Note? Maybe not because it doesn't steal the energy, but it does work off of attacks that hit from foe. Da Si 17:03, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Should it be related to empathy then? or ss? Both of those also work on hit, but have nothing to do with smiting or energy gain. I would leave it unrelated, but maybe a 3rd opinion is needed. --Lou-Saydus 17:06, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
- Energy gain only occurs on hit, so yes on IP, no on empathy. Ayumbhara 06:17, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
anyone think this could have potential in RA? I know it is on a different attribute line but with little hex removal present, a fast recharge a relative spammability it could provide pretty decent energy recovery for a monk. 129.67.17.233 13:23, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- I do, and not only for monks, but noone is willing to take up and elite slot. Ninjas In The Sky
Works well with protective bond.[edit]
I have been testing this on my monk bonding with protective bond and it works really well, it is still a little tricky but with the 5 second recharge it has an easy upkeep, It;s not so bad for farming with another player using a 600/smite setup too... T1Cybernetic 14:21, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- except that this only effects one target...98.134.9.109 03:28, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
SoC[edit]
General Bayel in Moddok Crevice (mission) canot be cap'ed as it is not a boss. i tryed just now and using soc say there is no boss in range. Maybe it should be removed from the Acquisition section.. --Bob 02:55, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, he's not a boss. He gives a morale boost, but he isn't a boss. ¬ Wizårdbõÿ777(talk) 03:31, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- If there are no objections to this, I will remove General Bayel as a possible foe for acquisition since you cannot get it from him. However, I will leave a note at the bottom telling people that while he does use this skill, he is not considered a boss and thus, cannot be captured from him. --kaheiyeh 04:01, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm[edit]
I think this would be more effective as an enchantment, maybe with less energy gain or more recharge? Or even a maintained enchantment, you gain 1 energy whenever other target ally successfully hits in melee? idk, opinions? /: Chao 15:47, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
How well do heroes use this?[edit]
Because DZ + Divine Boon + Smiter's Boon = you win PvE. If heroes use it well, that would be awesome. Karate Jesus 00:06, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- You'd give up RoJ/BLight for this? :\ Vili 00:08, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- As a side note, heroes use it perfectly. Misery 00:09, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- Just make sure you set the hero to guard or attack. Gave this to a healer hero in PVE and forgot to take him off avoid combat. Thomasuwoo 01:06, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Does people realize...[edit]
...That if you cats it on one attacker (Dagger, Sword or Axe) it makes you (WITHOUT IAS) have more than 4 enegry regen! And without capp! Maintain it on only two attackers: 8 energy regen!! And if it's removed: You don't care because you have more energy regen than the opposite monk! Let him use his hex removals! 78.114.153.103 13:08, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'm late but... Enemies don't attacks 24/7 and if you have a half decent team you will have things such as blocking, blinding, missing hexes, snares and kiting, attack speed debuffs, KD's, etc. etc. If you get the full 4 pips of energy from one hex you're doing something wrong and you're team is not benefitting as much as they would be if they avoided attacks in the first place. Not saying this is a bad skill but it's not a great one if you want buckets of energy. 110.32.86.136 08:41, 6 July 2011 (UTC)
Useful as a non-monk?[edit]
This looks like pretty rediculous e-management for a non-monk. Monks can't really use it because of the att dump, and because it forces you to target enemies which monks can't afford the time to do, but Offering of Blood, for those who use blood only for this elite, looks rather pitiful compared to this Greep 21:20, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
- Monks can still use extra energy offensively... There are some quite expensive smiting spells, and if you have this maintained on 2 or more enemies, you are free to crush people. Even a support smiter, PvP or PvE, this isn't exactly priority 1 for enemy monks to remove, making it a good way to ensure you can spam spells nonstop. FleshAndFaith 00:41, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
- "Maintained on two or more enemies" - If you cast once in pve, things should be dead, not hitting on your team. Use selfless spirit in PvE (or Lyssa's Aura), and just ignore this skill.--File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 01:24, 22 January 2011 (UTC)
Suggested Use[edit]
Never saw much potential for this skill until recently, now it's standard in hex friendly areas on my smiter. Consider using this as a cover hex for Scourge Enchantment and Scourge Healing. Spamming and spreading those two punishment hexes is hard on a monk's energy, and Defender's Zeal is just what the doctor ordered. Try this out against the Kournan military and/or the Afflicted.
