Concerns about Content[edit]

The following information was collected from a "non-official" source. If someone can verify it and/or expand on it, that would be great!:

  • Skills that decrease recharge time may or may not affect disabled skills.--Mask 22:47, 13 April 2007 (EDT)
Disabled skills are never affected by any recharge time enhancements, because, they are disabled not recharging. -DяấĢő
Thanks! --Mask 19:13, 14 April 2007 (EDT)
Hey Drago :-), I moved that comment to the main description. Thought it was important. Thanks again for verifying it! --Mask 17:42, 15 April 2007 (EDT)

Formatting[edit]

IMHO Many skills can be interpreted as disabling skills by using the word cannot (i.e. Well of Silence -- a player cannot use shouts or chants).

In order to avoid personal interpretations I have been adding only skills that specifically use the word disable. I have also only placed them in the sections that specifically meet the skills description (i.e. I moved someone's entry of Blackout from the Disables itself section to Disables your other skills just because that's what is says in description. This is indeed only my opinion. If another consensus is reached I promise not to throw a tantrum. :-) --Mask 19:13, 14 April 2007 (EDT)
In each section the professions are in the order specified by Guild Wars Wiki:Formatting/General. Past that, I alphabetized the skills. Again, if another consensus is reached, so be it. :-) --Mask 19:13, 14 April 2007 (EDT)

History[edit]

Terra Xin -- I removed Withthdraw hexes from the list due to the fact that the skill's description does not actually say disable. That skill can be listed under the recharge section. Recharge and disable are so similar that I personally feel they should be kept strictly separate or completely combined. If a general consensus says otherwise, then so be it... Trying to say this in a way that lets you know I really don't mind, but trying to explain my reasoning at the same time.  :-) --Mask 13:20, 3 May 2007 (EDT)

Diversion[edit]

I can't imagine you guys/gals forgot about the king of disabling. DIVERSION!!! BlazeRick 14:18, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Oh, and Power Lock as well, but that one's new, so I forgive you. BlazeRick 15:49, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
lol oh yes! Good to have Power Lock! :-) Diversion however affects recharge time. In an earlier discussion (see above) I suggested that this article deal only with skills that specifically use the word "disable". Mask 18:13, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Quick Shot[edit]

Now that the update has changed it, Quick Shot now disables all other attack skills for a short period of time. Should this be added to the list? Neora 12:44, 31 January 2010 (UTC)

Weasel-Words[edit]

So, here we sit saying "Is disabled for" is NOT the same as Recharge time. A skill that is disabled simply by using it DOESN'T have an increased recharge time.. it's just "not available".. Gee, that strikes me as being like "A shortfall isn't like being broke, it just means we are out of money"... (Direct quote from Mayor of San Francisco, Ca. 1970-something). If a skill is automatically unavailable, (because you USED it), there is NO practical difference.... I HAVE to ask... Is this a bit of conscience-salving because a skill turned out too good, but you were afraid to admit it, bite the bullet and just add recharge time? Granted.. there are skills that disable foe's skills.. this is within the structure of the game. But, really... weasel-words because you are afraid of an uproar? Foxfire 07:29, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
