Since I don't have the basic allegiance title yet I can't find this out myself. Does 'for each energy lost, -1 degeneration for 10 seconds' mean 'duration x points of energy lost' (like IWAY) or 'degeneration x points of energy lost (like Defile Enchantments. I suspect it's the latter, but I was just wondering. Cynical 20:15, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

"Target foe loses 4...7 Energy. For each point of Energy lost in this way, that foe and all foes in the area suffer -1 Health degeneration for 10 seconds." Meaning, if they lose 4 Energy, then they will suffer -4HP degen for 10 seconds.--§ Eloc § 20:21, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

for a pve mesmer who has this skill is there much point to conjure phantasm or at higher lvls conjure nightmare now? I am not saying I do not like this skill I am just wondering if anyone can think of much reason to carry both. Coruskane 02:22, 10 February 2008 (UTC)

Both cast and recharge faster, and last longer. Both are illusion hexes and therefore combine with mantra of persistence. Also, health degen. can stack up to -10, I believe.

Since it doesn't belong to Illusion magic, even if it's using the attribute rank itself instead of your alliegeance, it shouldn't be affected.--Doombringer 04:02, 15 August 2008 (UTC)
Think not, because the length of the hex is not influenced by your rank, so i would not be influenced by your illusion either. (unsigned)

Cry of Pain[edit]

erm i just wondering and its bn really annoying me but how does this work well with CoP i mean CoP is often misconstrued to have to have all of the foes hexed but it doesnt so is the note on the article page reeli ryt bcoz all mesmer hexes that dont end after a few seconds work relatively well 86.145.34.17 13:39, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

This skill works amazing with CoP, even at low ranks. I suggest trying Ether Nightmare, Echo, CoP, then CoP(Echoed).--Znof 05:33, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

It's not weak if used in the right situation, like most mesmer skills. Also, agree on the fast casting part. Just need a good tank to group the mobs and mesmers can blast them unlike any other class with this skill (and Cry of Pain). (KILL MementoMori 04:08, 17 April 2009 (UTC))

May 21 Update[edit]

Does this nerf feel unnecessary to anyone else? I mean I barely use the spell as it and no I intend not to use it at all. WTF? it does no dmg, energy removal in PvE is absolutely useless and the degen is only marginally useful and absolutely useless in HM. How was this overpowered?--Shai Halud 00:08, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Dumb question time; Some of the PvE only skills are (pick your faction) skills instead of skills tacked into whichever class. So does this count as a Mesmer skill or a Kurz/Lux skill, and more importantly, will the FC pve buff reduce this thing's recharge? Lillium 02:24, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
Its a mesmer pve skill. If your not mesmer primary/secondary then you cannot use it. So yes FC will help its recharge aswell as for CoP, hence the recharge nerf to help balance that. This spell didnt need a recharge nerf simply because, dgen wont stack casting it multiple times, and it does no dmg. Justice 06:57, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I thought so, but making sure helps. And yea, the nerf doesn't feel necessary at all. It would take far too high of FC to reduce the old recharge down to maintainable so it will still have down time. And the casting time already makes it hard to use, even as a primary mesmer, under non-farming circumstances. Oh well. Lillium 09:12, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
