Can someone confirm the species of Forge Masters? By appearance, I don't know of another creature they'd fit with. Are they Ettins, Giants, their own species? I've not yet gotten a trophy drop from them. Adeira Tasharo 04:18, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Species

They're ogres obviously... Ettins are Ogres, Ettins in EoTN Drop Jotun loot, which makes Jotuns Ettins, After testing with weapon mods of slaying I came to the conclusion ages ago that Jotuns are, in fact, Ogres. If they drop Jotun loot, they must therefore also be ogres. Of course, I could always go test, but laziness says that loot type alone would tell you what they are. 76.175.144.6

Ettin, Jotun and Yeti are just lore names for different categories of ogre. The race is ogre, the ogre-slaying knife deals the extra damage for all of them. They drop jotun pelts because that's the ogre drop in Eye of the North. This guy is clearly an ogre:

• Ettin: They have two faces or heads.
• Yeti: They have claw-like mouths.
• Jotun: They have more giant-like traits and immunity to stun.

They don't have any of the previous traits, so they are just your ol' plain generic ogres, like the ones we'll see in GW2. MithTalk 14:06, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

By the way, I'm going t change the races seen in all ogre pages to ogre, since it's their base type. In the same way that an Awakened Blademaster's type is Mummy, yet they are also undead by army and awakened by lore, they are all ogres, even when they are also ettins, jotun and yeti. The type in the Type section should be the 'base type', the one used in like skills (such as EoE), bounties, weapon mods, etc... MithTalk 14:20, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
