People, please. User:Regina_Buenaobra/Journal#Regarding_the_April_9_Game_Update_-_8_April_2009 - it's not their fault if you aren't keeping up-to-date. Vili >8< User talk:Vili 00:41, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Quite aware of that. However the whole 'Zalgo' baiting by Linsey and Regina led people to suspect somethings up.--118.90.27.74 00:43, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) Mursaat Tonic this month! XDDD--Gah User Gah My Name Cant Fi Echomending.jpg Eat my uber regen. 00:43, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Also there wont be a skill Re-balance or change this month. for that you have to wait untill next month. 75.165.115.205 00:46, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Its kinda funny how people complain when we don't get a skill balance yet whenever we do some complain that the skill balances are terrible. I guess you can't make anybody happy. -- Natalie Black User NatalieBlack sig.jpg 00:56, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA1Y

All I was hoping for was an announcement for Easter/spring/thing durst... D: --Thrashed 02:08, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
Isn't GW's birthday coming up? And what's with the two random NPCs in pre-searing? I'm thinking they're gonna add something [useful] to pre searing, sort of to reward the perma pres (even the ones who aren't level 20). --SetandSpike 02:11, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

They've forget skill balance, pff. --RedTeaCat 04:16, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

no, they didn't forget about skill updates... http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4572210&postcount=1 41.145.154.100 07:24, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Bad updates are still kinda preferable to non since with no updates, people just think they've been forgotton. If they make some updates at least, then at least it looks like they're trying. And tbh, the recent updates could have been a lot worse. OK, LC and PnH are too powerful, and many of their nerfs were cheap kludgy ones because they didn't have the time or energy to think up decent ones, but at least a lot of the OP things did get nerfed, and at least stuff like PnH had reason (the PnH buff was too much but it did stop Hexway, which was the point). 82.20.44.120 11:04, 13 April 2009 (UTC)
That said, what's been said on Regina's talk page will leave everyone pretty disappointed if the April update's not good, since they're building our hopes up again. 82.20.44.120 11:06, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

So[edit]

When WILL the skill update be ready? Xhata 13:38, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

There won't be one this month. Regina explained it in the various links above. Freedom Bound 14:34, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
What a shame. This update disappointed me. Gelei 15:04, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

I have lost all hope in this game. No Content, no nothing. Just random crap and skill re-balances. It gets really boring running around doing speed clears. So long GW1.

@Freedom:They are still claiming it's a "...big April update." and there's no indication if the update it's going to be release before or after this month is over. The best bet is this "...we decided that this month we needed to devote the team’s full focus on getting the April update ready.", still claiming it's an April update.--ShadowFog 02:36, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
I love them tears when one update gets pushed forward. --88.112.91.132 10:47, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
@ShadowFog: The links above explain that the "big April update" is for the 4th anniversary stuff (which is explained on GuildWars.com), there will be no skill balances as part of that update. So, yes, it's an April update, but it's still not a skill update. Hope that clarifies. 71.178.117.189 11:28, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

Double?[edit]

Was there another zkey-resetting-update this Month? Someone in alliance claims to have double but I thought aNet got it right this time. --BlueNovember 11:27, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Is GW Abandonware now?[edit]

May I suggest we declare Guild Wars 1 finally dead by the December 11th 2008 update now? They stopped regular improvements with january 2009 and will just fix bugs on a monthly base. Furthermore they deliberatly killed competitive gameplay with that last december skill demolition-"update". From that moment on I did see an extreme decline in the numbers of PvP-districts (e.g. 50% less districts in US RA during daytime compared to pre-december times). In most forums everything revolves solely around farming now for four months. In PvXwiki there are almost no updates on the front page, simply because nobody cares about GW anymore. I too stopped playing because I suddenly realized I don't need a Phoenix because at that time there will be nobody left playing the game I could show it. Just a bunch of gold farmers. There's simply no point in playing a dying game anymore. I changed to a different MMORPG with a monthy subscription fee, because those actually care about pleasing their customers and don't destroy their own game if they need to push its sequel. --82.83.35.85 12:52, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

No. No. No. And no. (Dont forget no) If you see how many players play Gw then you cant call it dead. If you see what they will add by the april content update then you see that Arenanet cares... To make this short(er): NO |Cyan LightUser-Cyan Light sig-icon.jpgLive!| 12:56, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Why is it that the "death" of this game is in your opinion solely based on the number of pvp districts? There is some pretty major new content coming with the 4th birthday update, and while it's been in the works, the skill updates have been minor fixes because the team has been putting everything they have into the content update. Give it a rest with your QQing about a 4 month old skill update. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 14:15, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Well I don't think you even understand what I'm talking about, but tbh I don't care. Get lucky farming voltaic spears until you realize that hoarding virtual stuff and/or playing a trazillion lingering necros in PvP won't make a game worth playing. I didn't expect to get any useful response because people that actually DID care about GW have already left the game and this wiki a long time ago. Hoosh, hoosh, back to your UW speedruns. --82.83.35.85 14:22, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Big boy.... Well, if you dont like it anymore, then stop playing it. And please dont moan here because there are players who still like the game without farming. |Cyan LightUser-Cyan Light sig-icon.jpgLive!| 14:25, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
If you were able to read you would have noticed I already did. I just rue the time and the money I invested in this game just to be kicked in the ass by Arena. Just to remind myself and those who silently agree to never fall into this trap with that company again. --82.83.35.85 14:31, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
You make this WAY too big... Let people choose by them self ot they play or not... Everybody needs to do what they want to do. But please dont post here what you think that is true. Again, let people chosse by them self. |Cyan LightUser-Cyan Light sig-icon.jpgLive!| 14:47, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I will post the truth no matter how much you or anybody else would wish I won't tell it in public. Maybe I missed anything but I don't think I'm able to hinder people in any way to chose for themselves by posting my own opinion in a wiki. I just want people to make an informed decision not a blind one. Sure, the facts will hurt the numbers of sold copies of GW2 because they show what will happen to GW2 if its sequel will raise its ugly head. Many people will remember their experience with GW1 and will chose wisely. Regardless of my personal opinion. --82.83.35.85 15:10, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
"Truth" is a very subjective term. What you consider truth a lot of us consider a pile of crap. If you have had any exposure to the current Live Team, you would know the level of "Care" they have for this game, the fact that it has changed from what it started as is to be expected in a game that is almost 4 years old. As to how you choose to spend your money in the future, well, I think I can speak for a majority of this community, NO ONE CARES. As for how people choose to enjoy the game, whether it's by as you say "Hoarding virtual stuff" that's for them to decide. The fact that GW is still selling 200,000 copies every 3 months after 4 years pretty much disputes your claims that this game is 'dead' and that no one cares. --Wyn's Talk page Wyn 15:16, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Amen =P |Cyan LightUser-Cyan Light sig-icon.jpgLive!| 17:58, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I am not surprised to hear such apologetics from those who are still playing the game - what would one expect? Just read the open forums, listen to the longtime players and look at the ever accelerating decline of regulars. Those people who participate in the ultimate sell-out of the game by buying the Adamantium Editon with all 4 parts for 3,99$ at Walmarts are not the early adopters that will buy GW2 for 49$. ArenaNet destroyed its own player base and these disappointed customers won't be back to buy GW2, because meanwhile they chose some other MMORPG. We all will see that GW2 won't be nearly the same success story as GW1 was, but I doubt ArenaNet will even then be able to understand its own mistakes. They think they can fool their customers as they like but it seems they have to learn we are not as dumb as they obviously think the very painful way. --82.83.35.85 20:52, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
IP, if you are referring there's less players than there was 3 years ago, yes. Some PvE areas are desolated or plague with farmers and PvP is diminishing slowly. If you want to talk about games going abandonware, make a search of Fury(head cheese is Bossman) demise or how Richard Garriott abandoned the Tabula Rasa team, these are signs of a game being abandon. The updates thing... is just for GvG and if this was abandoned, they wouldn't have been fixing bugs in the first place. Is not dead yet. How others will react to GW2 in anyone's guess...or game.--ShadowFog 21:18, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Seriously, this conversation doesn't really belongs to this talk page since it has nothing to do with the update itself, and is just an obvious trolling attempt that people has been feeding for some unknown reason (maybe lack of drama on the wiki lately?). May i suggest just moving this to the ip's talk page and let it die?.
If you REALLY want to give Anet feedback about their game or policies, try using one of the fansite forums or mail them directly; the wiki is useless in that regard, since they hardly read it for such purposes.--Fighterdoken 21:21, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
So, anon 82, you say you don't "want to think about the money you wasted on this game" and its just "virtual items" and yet you switch to a monthly subscription game where you waste even more REAL money on it than you do on here?24.233.254.51 05:18, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
The money is wasted because ArenaNet destroys all my achievements in the game (especially PvP) including virtual items by deliberatly killing the game to subtly force everybody to buy GW2 although they promised they would "maintain" GW1 for a much longer time - yea, sure they will, but they're already working on making sure there's will be no point in actually playing GW1 anymore.
I didn't write I don't like virtual items or I wouldn't be willing to pay for them (indirectly), I wrote that "hoarding virtual items" alone and/or playing repetitevly OP builds based on unnecessary newly introduced IMBA skills doesn't make a game worth playing. BTW, other companies actually try to please their customers and have something like "open communication". I have never seen a game company yet that failed to establish a good practise of community communication as terrible as ArenaNet. --82.83.38.113 05:47, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
You know, you're absolutely right. Because Guild Wars has no monthly fee, ArenaNet has no reason or obligation to update and maintain the game whatsoever. They already made their money. The miniscule pathetic updates that they do occasionally grace us with are purely out of the goodness of their corporate heart. 99.144.234.76 05:50, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
