re: Critical Strike. Read the attack, it also grants energy on top of always critting.--Drekmonger 14:25, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Assassins don't need a guide, any retarded noob could use one, and still pwn because assassins are incredibly overpowered and ruin every form of PvP in guild wars. Anyone using an assassin needs to die. immediately. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.15.5.41 .
Shows what you know. Done25 03:28, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. -- ab.er.rant sig 03:34, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
for one thing, pvp =/ pve. most assassins in pve generally tend to die quickly and end up useless. maybe there should be a line expressing the simple fact that generally assassins make for poor tanks. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:69.234.195.211 .
PvE assassins are useless? In Done25's words: "Shows what you know". Any self-respecting assassin takes 2, if not 3 defensive skills. Critical Defenses, Way of Perfection and Shadow Refuge never ever leave my bar.
Never did i say they are useless, as i play an assassin primarily. I'm just saying from my experience, many assassins i have played with tend to just run in and die.
Now that cannot be argued. I don't trust any assassins other than myself, Zenmai and a few guildies.

"PvE sins are useless" i have one word to say to that... roflberrynoobcake thats the funniest thing ive heard. i use my sin more for pve than pvp, as far as i can tell, sins do fine in missions, however they do awesome when it comes to hardmode farming, i can make 100-150k a day hardmode farming so.. re: blunt daggers. Not sure. I thought there was 1 green dagger that did blunt damage, but I can't seem to find it now. It might have been in my imagination.--Drekmonger 11:52, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Self Defense section. I wrote this for another site. It's a bit old (especially the description of skills at the end), though. Do you guys think it's worth copying the first sections into the Self Defense section here (given how it is empty right now)? Erasculio 00:34, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I've never heard the term "Bloody Barrager" before, it's been called Critical Barrager whenever I've seen it. - User HeWhoIsPale sig.PNG HeWhoIsPale 15:23, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

I've seen it called both. I don't mind "Critical Barrager" being the section title.--Drekmonger 22:07, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Is the attribute section important? I mean, what's going to be written there that isn't already in the main assassin article?--Drekmonger 07:03, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

2/25/10[edit]

Has changed the role of Sf permas, so part of the article needs to be rewritten. I'll do it in an hour or so if no one else does.--151.200.12.26 23:47, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

Glass Cannon...[edit]

That made me laugh for hours... --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.114.79.176 .

that's actually a popular saying... afaik --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:69.234.195.211 .
I have NEVER heard someone say "glass cannon". glass SWORD is a much more popular aphorism (?) 69.138.182.0 00:35, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Never heard of a glass sword. Done25 21:06, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure about the use of it in Guild Wars, but Glass Cannon is common Lineage II term. Dark elf archers there are the strongest archer but have the second lowest Hit Points. People often further make them "glass cannons" by trading their Hit Points for more attack power and/or critical hit rate/attack speed.

So a comparison to Assassins makes sense, however perhaps the "cannon" doesn't apply as much for a mellee character. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:68.103.139.167 (talk).

Keywords?[edit]

There are much better words to refer to asp, ox, wild, lotus, etc. How about nomenclature? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:190.18.38.207 .

Edit it however you like. If people don't think it's an improvement they'll revert it. - BeX iawtc 00:23, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Black Lotus[edit]

Somebody's going to have to go in here and fix the references to Black Lotus Strike as an off-hand since the nerf. I'd do it myself, but I really, really suck at editing code - I've blown up wiki pages before trying to fix shite like this -_-. As for Bloody Barrager, I can only assume someone remembers my name for the build when I first concepted it all the hell way back after the first Factions Preview Event on Guru. I named it Bloody Barrage because back then, Sharpen Daggers was actually useful and spreading Bleeding far and wide was a key part of the build's DPS. Now, of course, the Moebius Blossomers have taken over for the ol' Bloody Barrage in PvE, which is kinda irritating. Ah well. C'est la vie. 209.169.201.101 01:24, 19 November 2007 (UTC)LaserLight

Targets die way to fast for Mobius Blossom to do anything in terms of AoE for me. So I picked up on such a build with blood and Barrage. (Kudos to me for ressurecting years-old topics) Haru 15:50, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Adding organization to these guides[edit]

After comparing all of the great ideas in the sections in these Profession guides, I've tried to bring together a single format for all of them to use. The information has not been changed, but in some cases it has been reorganized so that readers will know what to expect across all guides.

Because of this, many guides will have incomplete sections. I believe this is worth it to have the great sections cover all of the guides and have more complete organization.

I’m adding this explanation to all of the guides’ Talk pages so everyone can see it regardless of which guide they see first.--Declan 21:06, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

headings[edit]

can somebody with some time at their hand please get some structure into these headings? stuff like "play styles" is completely redundant. - Y0_ich_halt Have a look at my page 16:05, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Critical Agility[edit]

Think CA deserves some special mentioning regarding PvE. An active sin using CA pretty much has permanent 25 extra armor, pretty well closing the gap towards tanking. Add Critical Defenses, plenty of critical strikes and Nightstalker's armor for 110 armor and 75% block chance, that way you can survive quite well on the frontline. --217.122.225.60 01:53, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Low Standard Wiki Page[edit]

I think this guide is of a much lower standard than other Wiki guides (for instance the monk one), it is also out of date now due to the recent "un-nerfing" of shadow form making Assasins by far the best tanks in the gamne as they can only be hurt by point blank AoE and other untargeted spells like chilblanes - however they also deal a respectable amount of damage whilst being essentially invincible. The infomation on he is biaus and seems to have been written by somone laking experiance as an assassin. I have started writing a guide that is much more up to date on my PvX wiki page > Xiay

When I get some time I may start re writing this page. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:194.176.105.38 (talk).

"Assassins are also the best running class in the game"[edit]

prove, please? Twiggie 18:32, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

it's surely an arguable point, but thinking about it, it does bear a certain degree of accuracy. i wouldn't say assassins are the "best", but more the "most versatile" running class as they offer most means of running, and also make decent runners with any primary class. mainly through shadow form, of course. - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 18:46, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

PvP assassins[edit]

The section about using characters in PvP arenas is very outdated and offers no help at all. I lack the proper knowledge about PvP, so can someone else take care of that? Koda Kumi 16:30, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I just trashed it. No advice is better than terrible advice. -=-Koda Kumi 20:50, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Critical Barrager[edit]

I am against advising new players to use such this build. It relies on doing sub-par damage to a very small cluster of enemies, and inflicting a weak condition on them, which is counterproductive to what an assassin is capable of. The concept of an assassin using a bow is not bad, but using Disrupting Accuracy is not only more effective, but much more helpful for the team as well. Is anyone going to defend the moldy old barrager or can it be trashed into oblivion? Gah, must learn to sign.... I'm new to this stuff :P Koda Kumi 16:40, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

just edit. if there's anyone who disagrees strongly, they'll undo and start a discussion about it ;) - Y0_ich_halt User Y0 ich halt sig.png 17:26, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I made it slightly more generic. However, while disrupting accuracy and crits might be good, I normally just take dshot and savage when I barrage. --JonTheMon 14:30, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

AoD?[edit]

I noticed the abbreviation AoD in the guide for Aura of Displacement, however this is also used as an abbreviation for Avatar of Dwayna, and could possibly cause confusion, especially if not preceded by the full name Faldir 17:02, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

I don't see any problem, IMO the context makes it pretty clear. -- User Gordon Ecker sig.png Gordon Ecker (talk) 01:02, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Best runners[edit]

Being prone to AoE damage and knockdown as well as not having a permanent IMS, I highly doubt assassins being the best runners. They may have some good utility skills none of which are necessary primary skills for a runner (yes, this includes Shadow Form which greatly reduces running speed). Ɲoɕʈɋɽɕɧ 01:31, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

Sounds like you are just naming what every runner needs to watch out for. And yet, dwarven stability makes for a permanent IMS.Haru 00:51, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Repeating itself[edit]

Under the headline Play Styles the text is sometimes reapeting itself. It names Critical scythe two times and barrage (or using the rager) as well. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:81.229.67.54 (talk).

Go ahead and remove/combine the repeating sections. Just make a note about it in the edit summary. --JonTheMon 19:13, 23 January 2009 (UTC)
