I removed this line[edit]

"Sometimes Cyndr looses aggro and becomes undefeatable. If that happens only Barbs can kill him, don't use crates."

For several reasons:

  • It doesn't matter if Cyndr is "loses aggro;" it only matters if you can cause damage.
  • You cannot damage (or hex) the worm while Mountain Heart Carapace is active.
  • The primary purpose of the crates is to break the worm's protective carapace, not so much to damage Cyndr. (They deal 50 dmg and there's a delay between acquiring new crates.)
  • As noted in the article, life stealing skills can bypass the protection as well as spirits, i.e. even if Cyndr becomes invulnerable, Barbs isn't the only work-around.
  • Cyndr has the equivalent of four pips of health regeneration, so can burrow and pop-up at full health, depending on the amt of damage taken and how long it remains below ground.

Without further data from the original poster, it's hard to know whether their difficulty in defeating Cyndr was due to a bug, with not noticing that the Carapace had regenerated (as it does when Cyndr pops up again), with the display of Cyndr's health bar (there are general circumstances in which the red bar shows full, even though the foe/ally has taken damage), or something else.

Since there is only one other report since the last time that ANet adjusted the quest (2007), I think it's too soon to label this as a bug. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 19:02, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

It just happened to me. Definitely a bug. He just sits there and doesn't do anything, and no matter how many times you break the carapace and attack him he takes no damage. Very frustrating, had to re-do the entire quest. 209.195.94.140 02:47, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
Just a note, it happened after we wiped and had to come back in from the rez shrine, so it might have something to do with the "losing aggro" thing above. 209.195.94.140 02:57, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
Just had it happen again on another run... fml. FIX THIS ARENANET. 209.195.94.140 03:27, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
And I didn't die this time. So I have no idea what's causing it. 209.195.94.140 03:29, 5 July 2012 (UTC)
Exact same thing happened to me. My friend who was helping dced and left me his heroes, and he kept telling me that it wasn't a bug. Then I looked on here and found out it was. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by ShananylDracon (talk) at 00:03, 28 October 2013‎ (UTC).+

Currently struggling with this[edit]

Okay... This M'er F'er is impossible! Seriously, Who amongst us all, who are casual players, like me... have been able to beat this quest?!? This guy is SO overpowered, it isn't even funny! I need cheat codes for invincibility to beat this guy down! Give me a f'ing break, ANet!!! I like challenges, but this is no challenge; this is a slaughter! One step into the arena, and you are insta-killed! Fun-factor = dead. Too furious to continue! --173.239.240.6 22:22, 6 April 2018 (UTC)

Do you actually ever read walktroughs, skill recommendations, skill descriptions, links or is complaing all you can do? Just too effing lazy to click on links or do you need to be spoon-fed?
Load up with life steal necromancers and R/N touch rangers and this becomes easy.
As the walkthru suggest, For more details on how to kill Cyndr, refer to this boss-like foe's page.

Thanks <redacted>, but I'm sure you are used to that, already.
Complaints? No; not until I have followed the F'ing guide multiple times, <redacted>.
How about this, <redacted>: 4 blood necros, all with life stealing, 2 touch rangers, and two healers, both with protective spirit?! I followed the F'ing walk-through, <redacted>.
Why are you so F'ing :pissed off? Are you the writer of this 'walk-through'? Why are you taking this so G.D. personally?!?
Don't even bother replying; you have shown the world that you have ZERO compassion for those who need help. <redacted>.--173.239.240.15 00:50, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
Calm down; deep breaths. When you've got a better hold of yourself, I would encourage you to redact much of the above. Sorry that you're having trouble with this quest. Wish I had more advice than what's on the page. G R E E N E R 02:03, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
EotN was designed to be harder than the three campaigns. If you repeatedly struggle with EotN, maybe you should consider playing more campaign(s), unlock skills, get equipment, learn more basics about the game and then come back later.
This wasn't meant in spite, but as serious advice, btw.
I didn't write the guide, no. What I did though is follow the blood stealing advice. Both in NM and HM. And it works. Regardless of your own profession. Period.
Why I reacted like that? Well, look at your posting history:

For you, everything/one's a MFer. And one of your gems: "The M'er F'er who designed this quest needs to burn in a lake of fire for all eternity."
Legions of players have done those quests, and quite a few were casual. But in your eyes everyone else is a MF and you seem to consider yourself blameless. Your sense of entitlement is annoying me, I admit. Steve1 (talk) 08:07, 8 April 2018 (UTC)

Hard mode[edit]

Do you get 2 drops from the chest in hard mode during this quest? 104.0.42.202 08:49, 2 February 2019 (UTC)

As per Mountain Heart Chest, yes. - Infinite - talk 10:27, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
