Talk:List of PvE and PvP versions of skills

I just wanted to say that I believe the PvE-PvP skill balancing is unfair for the people who's builds were effected because it ruins many builds that have taken months to perfect and tries to appease them by giving extra bonuses in PvE, but in reality just adding extra time in PvE does not make up for the loss in PvP. For example, my build requires perfect timing to use and all the recharge clocks worked perfectly together, and it took me a very long time to put it together let alone to get used to using it, but now the extra time boost in PvE has ruined my build for the RPG portion of the game and for farming, and in addition I can no longer participate in any PvP battles whatsoever unless I spend a considerable amount of time and money to change the runes, insignias, weapon upgrades and inscriptions, and skills in my overall character build. This also prevents me from unlocking any items, skills, and heroes with Balthazar, and prevents any usage of tomes for that matter. I am aware that the skill balancing was enacted to disable players from using cheap tactics in PvP but I'm not so sure it does that great of a job, and it still doesnt address the issue of "Touch Rangers" at all, probably one of the worst cheap tactic builds in the game. I only write this complaint because I am a huge fan of the game and I hate seeing it as a disappointing experience.

I hate to drop a logic bomb on you, but one of the defining characteristics of an MMO is that it's dynamic. Every update makes someone smile and someone else frown. I've had updates usurp my builds before, and I dealt with it. I see it as a good thing: You have to use your imagination and try something new. Krelus Derian 22:15, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

There are several solutions to your problem of "now I can't farm or pvp". 1. If you're doing pvp on a pve character it is advisable to have more than 1 set of armor for different builds prior to going into a match so you aren't wasting time reapplying runes to 1 set of armor. If you aren't running different weapon sets, I suggest you start doing so. 2. Since buying runes is such a heavy expense to you, have an open character slot to "roll" a pvp character. You can unlock all weapon & armor skins through reward points. 3. You can alter your build, diversify it, or run something different. There are enough skills in this game that you can find a solution, and I'm almost positive there is more than 1 viable build in this game, or else it would be pretty boring. You're point about not being able to use balth faction due to 1 build having a nerf makes me laugh. If these options don't work, then unfortuntely you're SOL. PvE skills are getting better. I don't see your problem there.
It sounds like you don't know what a PvP character is or why you should use one. See PvP-only character for details. You have no need to switch runes/insignias/etc on your role play character.
The split between pve and pvp skills was done primarily because izzy doesn't know how to balance a game, but it does has positive side-effects. PvE players will be much more able to do what they want without having to grind as hard through areas. Unfortunately, it will be awhile until that happens because Anet abandoned GW1 a long time ago.
Bottom line: The split was an improvement on the game system and has no negative side-effects. ~Shard (talk) 06:12, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
What I hate is while I feel having this implemented is a cop out, they are STILL not using it at all, we now are having less updates when we should be having more. Why implement something then stop using it? Did they forget they added this? Seriously now. 69.247.22.37 04:00, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
The split may be an improvement to what was before, but I can't agree with "has no negative side-effects." Cameronl | talk 22:51, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Hey guys, I'm sorry if before I sounded like I was dissing the game, I really was just kinda crying out in distress without really thinkin. My dissappiontment came from that I had tried so many builds and worked for months on my final one because, and I don't know if anyone else gets like this but I hate running more than one build, I just feel so incomplete, I like to look at my char and think of him as one guy, one style, just one skill set. I realize it would be ridiculous to think that everyone should accommodate me, and I don't, I just try to work around the game so I can accomplish what I want to do, but after all the updates I just couldn't do it, and it sucked cuz I just felt like I couldn't even play anymore. Don't get me wrong, the guys are doing a great job, and I know it's impossible to please everybody, and please don't think of me as an idiot, I really am proficient at the game, iv'e been playing for years now and I'm a huge fan, but I was just so sad and messed up that I didn't know what to do. I'm lettin you guys know that now I am currently working harder and even running extra builds while trying to keep my style, which is tough for me, and I really don't want to criticize the game, and I hate it when people do, It's an amazing game, and I'm heavily awaiting GW2, so thank you to the game managers for workin hard to keep us playing. I appologize to anyone who I might of offended. Peace guys.
