Inherent stave bonuses[edit]

Shouldn't inherent bonuses that reduce conditions on staves be added to the table? For instance The Yakslapper has a reduces deep wound where an inscription would normally be. Staves often drop with that as an inherent effect. - BeX 10:04, 9 May 2007 (EDT)

Sure, I'll try to keep track if I find any, if anyone else sees a non-unique staff that reduces the duration of a particular condition, feel free to append the appropriate inherent bonus for column. -- Gordon Ecker 23:25, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
I've definitely gotten gold staves that reduce conditions. My warrior has a gold dragon staff that reduces cripppled by 20%. - BeX iawtc 04:29, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
I've been adding the confirmed bonuses as I find them. -- Gordon Ecker 09:32, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
I got 20% poison duration (pure of heart?) on a fire staff dropped in the Crystal Desert. - BeX iawtc 08:34, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
I got a 17% half spell recharge of ALL spells on a staff.

Unconditional no-drawback damage bonuses[edit]

Does anyone know if those bugged unconditional no-drawback +damage weapons are still around? I don't remember anything in the updates or update commentary mentioning a change. -- Gordon Ecker 02:51, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

Yes they are. i own several and they are still uncon. there is one for sale atm aswell. i am sure anet wont like info on bugged items being on their official wiki though... ~ Herb

I think they would actually, it would help ANet stamp them out. - User HeWhoIsPale sig.PNG HeWhoIsPale 21:33, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

ANet have known about them for years now. They were removed like 2nd week of release so they defo. know they exist. If they wanted to remove them they would have. Either that or they cant remove them. Only ever seen Anet change stats on collectors, craftable, greens and mods. ~Herb

my firend has a sword that is dmg +20% vs dragons --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:66.61.34.85 .

That's conditional, and it's already on the page under suffix bonuses. -- Gordon Ecker 00:05, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Shield Armor +5...10 (vs. <creature type>)[edit]

hmm there are mods like this in the game or not, its not clear from the article. Its stated No corresponding inscription and n/a,n/a for Attaches to and Campaign, so i presume they dont exist. So why this immaginary mods are named, and there is even a list of the "vs race" shield mods?Spaghetti 23:18, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Because shields and focus items with those bonuses drop in Prophecies, Factions, the Fissure of Woe and the Underworld. There's also four green Nightfall shields with armor +10 vs. demons. -- Gordon Ecker 00:43, 9 February 2008 (UTC)

Bug With Weapon Upgrade Unlocks[edit]

First, my apologies if this is in the wrong place. I looked here, http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Category:Bugs, and didn't spot it listed. The problem is that identifying some imperfect mods in PvE overwrites your account's unlock of the perfect mod. Here's my example. I had 10/10 furious spearheads unlocked on my account. Today, I ID'ed a purple spear that contained an 8% furious mod and got a pop-up message saying I'd unlocked 8% furious for spear. I went and checked the Priest of Balthazar, and sure enough, I no longer had a 10% furious spearhead unlocked. (I spent some Balth faction to re-unlock it.) Identifying an imperfect mod in PvE shouldn't remove the perfect version unlock on your account ... should it? That doesn't make sense to me. I think it may be an issue with only certain mods, as this doesn't happen every time I identify something with non-max mods. LicensedLuny 20:17, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

You can report it at User talk:Mike Zadorojny/Guild Wars Miscellaneous Bugs. -- Gordon Ecker 01:08, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Question on incriptions and mods[edit]

I have a fiery gladius with an inscription slot and a short sword with an inherent 15^ench mod. Umm if I get the inscription guided by faith will the effects stil lbe the same? Ninjas In The Sky 07:53, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

+15% -1 regen hp/en[edit]

Recently came across a sword with +15% -1 hp regen, was told its rare to find, was wondering if its something they removed from game or such. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:69.131.130.154 (talk).

It still drops. I found one in Asacalon (Hardmode). It seems like it drops only in Tyria and Core areas. Badde 20:06, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Actually, i just got one in Mount Quinkai on June 28, 2009, so it does drop in Cantha, any idea how much these are worth, its on a req. 9 Oni Blade?71.190.234.238 07:33, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

on an oni blade 15 -1 req 9, i'd say around 200k in heroes ascent international districtNibelhim 01:54, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Stacking Bonuses[edit]

I have Droknar's Scepter and Droknar's Focus. They give 1/2 casting time at 20% and 1/2 recharge time at 20%, BOTH on each item.

How does this stack? 40% 1/2 Cast Time, 40% 1/2 Recharge Time? No Stacking at all? If they stack does it mean that 20% of the time Casting and recharge Times are reduced by 75%? -Anonymous --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Gorefiend (talk).

If i remember right, it's 20% + (20% of what is left=16%)= 36% chance of half casting, and 36% chance of half recharge, both working idependently, so you would have a 36% chance of HCT, 36% chance of HSR, and 13% chance of both firing at the same time...--Fighterdoken 02:48, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

Shield Mod Question[edit]

So recently while charr hunting in pre I got a q5 Tactics shield with a mod giving Protection Prayers +1(16& chance) Is this rare? I mean I do not remember seeing a shield with +1 in anything other than warrior attributes...Zim Gir 03:35, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

They drop in Tyria a bunch, haven't seen any anywhere else. I've gotten a Tactics shield with Domination, but the percent wasn't perfect so I just sold it. I'm sure if you got a perfect one it'd be rare. ~ Da Si 16:23, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Prophicies and Factions have randomized inherent bonuses where an inscription would go in Nightfall or EoTN, they're really just a +1 to attribute mod with a preset attribute line. They only differ in that Proph/Factions can be linked to an attribute that is different than the requirement attribute. (Not just shields, but any weapon and off-hand.) Some of these might be worth selling to players, but most wouldn't be. 75.146.48.190 16:36, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Perfect[edit]

Shouldn't this be linked the the perfect section so that if someone wants to know if that description or mod, etc. is perfect or not that they'd have a link? Ariyen 09:12, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

It is. Perfect#Perfect_weapon_upgrades -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 09:15, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

inscription[edit]

dis somebody else noticed that the inscription riders on the storm is also a song by the doors? The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.81.24.86 (talk) at 15:32, 29 March 2010 (UTC).

Yes, people did notice [1]. -- Arduin talk 16:02, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

+15% Damage[edit]

Does the +15% damage bonus also apply to damage done by skills? --The preceding unsigned comment was added by 75.73.95.171 (talk • contribs) at 23:19, 5 September 2010 (UTC).

No, it only increases the damage done by the weapon itself. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 09:58, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Footnote #4[edit]

I looked at all the collectors in Prophecies and I couldn't find a single instance where a wand had an innate fortitude modification. Could somebody point it out to me? 216.165.126.124 20:13, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Ele wand in Pockmark Flats has +10 health. That is the only one with a health mod that I can find. 216.195.26.128 20:18, 24 January 2011 (UTC)
Besides the Earth Wand from Nicanor Gannel, there is a Cane from Ouran Odwin that provides +20 health. --Silver Edge 02:32, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Inscription bonus footnote #2[edit]

I'm not sure what this is supposed to be attached to. Is it one of the footnote #1 refs? Robdalf 17:05, 23 September 2011 (UTC)

That footnote was added in this March 2007 edit, but it wasn't attached to anything at that time either. I'm assuming it's the footnote for "Attribute +1 (Chance: 11...20%)" since that was also added in that edit. --Silver Edge 02:17, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Help finding page from search[edit]

Hi I've never posted anything here. I just spend my time playing the game and I've used this site for all sorts of tips, tricks and game playing advice. I found this page once before while surfing and for a long time I couldn't find it again. Today I discovered that if you type a capitol 'W' for weapon in the search box this page won't be found. Most pages seem to be searchable using both capitol and lower case letters but I don't know how to correct the setting for this one! I hope someone comes across this and can correct this or tell me how I can fix it! Txs much!

Redundant[edit]

This page seems redundant. All of this information can be found on the inscription and upgrade component pages, and with better formatting. As long as those two pages link to each other, this page is not needed. Breck 21:41, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

I'm not sure. If we did, I would recommend keeping a table similar to the one on this page. I use all three pages for different reasons, depending on what I'm selling or buying. Daddicus 03:57, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Like most "list" articles, this one is meant to be a convenient at-a-glance page, but I agree that currently, its presentation is less sophisticated than it could be. It could be more valuable than the other two individual articles. (I would prefer to keep it...and improve upon it.) – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:10, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Now that I think about it, I think it might be best to have a single page, but that incorporates the information in all three pages. I'm specifically interested in seeing the list from different angles.
For example, perhaps make the list be sortable (like many skills lists are). That way, we can quickly find an inscription (hard to do now), but we also could see a list of inscriptions sorted by what type of item it can be applied to.
If this idea gets any traction, we should have a new discussion as to what columns we would like to see, and whether any of them don't need sort buttons.
If this idea is adopted, we should create a fourth page first. Then, get it right (with its own discussion). Finally, we replace the other three with the new one (possibly saving the old ones in an archive). Daddicus 18:44, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Looking at both the inscriptions/upgrade pages, they could easily be combined into the perfect weapon page (sort the upgrades by type - makes it easier to find) and only list the perfect values as already done. Fast Turtle 24.30.133.18 14:08, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
