Problems in the undercity[edit]

I had problems getting all of the afflicted to spawn, just like the protect the cook quest.. basically I just went behind brother tosai and across that bridge that spans way above the narrow hallway where the turtles and the afflicted do battle.. there are several afflicted on the other side of the bridge and after killing many of them (I didn't go as far as the afflicted boss) I went back and found quite a few back near brother tosai.. killed them, another wave spawned, killed them, and it finally recognized the end of the mission.

Either way, they will go against you, so it's better not to do the quest after all?--ShadowFog 00:49, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I had BIG poblem. I killed all foes in Undercity and this f**king quest haven't updated !

Encountered an interesting bug while going through this quest. If you get to Brother Tosai and the sickened Am Fah are triggered, and then you are defeated, when you return to the Undercity to try again Brother Tosai is no longer at the location and cannot trigger the Am Fah spawn. The starburst remains on the map where he used to stand, though, and the quest log is updated to say "defeat the sickened Am Fah", which leaves the player at a complete impasse if they wish to complete the quest.

I had kind of a combination of all the above. First round, I killed everything in the Undercity except the Kappa boss' mob, and the quest got stuck on "Defeat the sickened Am Fah" with Brother Tosai still just standing there at the green star with nothing to say. Rezoning put him back inside the Undercity entrance so I ran it again and it was bugged again. I ran through it one more time just to be sure and it finally worked. One group of afflicted locked aggro on some kappa below the southeast bridge, and both mobs stayed locked once the spellcasters took each other out. After clearing them and one more small afflicted mob on the way back to the star, the quest updated and Brother Tosai offered the reward.
Other quests in this sequence can be flaky too. The problem with just skipping them is that you can't capture Quivering Blade for the Skill Hunter title until after you finish these quests. You can get it from Balthazar faction and tomes, but you can't capture the skill because the only boss that has it doesn't spawn until the chain is complete. The whole quest chain is apparently bugged and needs an overhaul. -- Tekn0mancer User Tekn0mancer-Awaken the Blood 19px sig.jpg talk 16:05, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

If you want to grab the poison/disease effect[edit]

Just to clarify, you can abandon this quest, and get it again from Brother Tosai in his usual spot in the Bazaar. This will allow you to get the chalice of corruption effect repeatedly.--Desmond Dreadheart 06:04, 5 October 2011 (UTC)
