Talk:Meteor
I have a question Izzy. Is this spell considered a "projectile" by game mechanics? I've noticed that it can in fact miss, or is this just a one-shot aoe skill? Or anyone else who can answer for sure. What I really want to know is, will this be effected by Glyph of Swiftness? Lou-Saydus 17:55, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
This skill is not a projectile, it's a one-shot aoe spell. Source --Lou-Saydus 19:43, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, it seems to hit immediately after casting completes like other non-projectile AoE nukes. -- Gordon Ecker 03:15, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
- Problem is, the damage and KD can be avoided as if it were a projectile by anyone with a 33% run buff. Just ask anyone that's done running in Skyward Reach. Maybe it's actually a projectile that is inserted in the instance directly above the target? -- Mafaraxas 02:30, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
Is it correct that Meteor can be obtained from Captain Greywind? He does seem to teach only Meteor Shower. Someone please verify. ~Wansti
Nah, it won't be affected. It's an AoE spell that triggers the damage after a second of the cast. What I wonder about this spell it's i it always hit the head armor part of the target. MithTalk 18:45, 10 February 2008 (UTC)
- It should. Unless you're moving. 71.0.85.100 01:41, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- Just like all other AoE spells. If you move when they are cast you won't be hit, this one you just need to move faster than normal. 122.105.152.61 11:54, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Impracticle[edit]
a thirty second recharge makes this skill useless. Meteor shower is understandable, once someone is caught in the shower , it's very hard for him to get out of it. Here you have a single kd every half minute. So you can kd your foes once, and a few seconds later it's back up and killing you as if nothing happened, but you are one skill slot short. Spiking doesn't take more than ten seconds. In half a minute, you can spike 3-5 npc's alone. This skill is allot like earthquake. The only difference is that earthquake can be used every 15 seconds with both attunements. it having "near" range, makes it more powerful. Which is why it has a 3 second cast time. So I don't think meteor needs a longer recharge then earthquake. If anything it can make fire magic more use in hard mode. It being a reliable inturrupt.
- I think the 5 energy cost and the fact that it's a large bit of damage with KD sorta' grants the long recharge.
It's as dangerous as two flares, and the exhaustion makes it more expensive than 2 flares. Know what, I wouldn't mind if it did cost 10 energy with exhaustion, but as long as you can't cast this spell more than once in every fight, it is useless. The recharge time has to go down so it can be usable.

- IT's obviously usefull in PvP, but in PvE it's not so much, the range is small, the DPS is not much compared with other skills and the exhaustion doesn't help at all. And with a second between activation an the actual hit, HM monsters with their increased speed usually run outside range even under speed decrease effects. It's usueful, yes, but not a skill you'll usually bring to PvE. MithTalk 17:14, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
- Don't use it in PvE. You have overpowered options anyways and it hardly even matters what you bring, tbh. 38% of the time, this skill can't even build up exhaustion (0% of the time for PUGs). Its recharge protects ignoramuses from exhausting themselves out in long fights, it's energy cost is negligible, and it provides a powerful effect. Meteor is miles better than Earthquake© because the energy, activation, and attribute are much better. Note: I'm not saying that Fire Magic is always better than Earth Magic, but Fire Magic can make more use of an AoE KD. -~=Ϛρѧякγ (τѧιк) 18:04, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

- Ele are shit and a waste of a party slot in pve unless they're an ER slave anyway, so I don't see the problem.
