Talk:Perfect

From Guild Wars Wiki

I suggest that we add a table herein that lists each of the upgrade components and their "perfect" score. This information is available elsewhere, but our Guild Wars Wiki:Formatting/Unique items suggest that the description of the upgrade contain the Perfect tag without a description, and I agree that it looks cleaner.

Example:

is cleaner than

Consequently, a user would currently have to click on Perfect, find out that the information is not their, then back up and looking down trees and hope that he notices the +20..30 notation, and gathers that perfect means +30.

Deleting[edit]

Delete this page please, For some people a 15^50, req9 +30 ain't perfect -- The Warrior Of Timi 09:48, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Well, they don't know what's perfect. to be honest. Ariyen 20:13, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

So..[edit]

I have a perfect elemental sword, wtihout any mods. What are the ones to get to consider it "perfect"? Someone told me the Strength and Honor inscription and fortitude grip, but what else?

If it doesn't have any mods, it should either have 15^50 as an inherent bonus and nothing else besides a perfect requirement, or a blank inscription with a perfect requirement and nothing else. Otherwise it would have to have mods on it. Silavor UserSilavorSigIcon.png 10:47, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Buffing up[edit]

I've added a table here that lists the upgrade types as well as their perfect bonus. Initially I've added what the bonus is (like fortitude is + health) just to be more clear, but that information is largely elsewhere and I'm not sure someone clicking the perfect links will want to know what a fortitude mod does...as they're likely wiki'ing after getting a Weapon of Fortitude and wondering if it's max. So I'll probably edit that out, and begin adding more tables. Briareus 02:16, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Addendum: I've added the rest of the tables for what I think should be on here. I didn't add weapons, as I wasn't sure it was relevant. Briareus 02:44, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

Problems and Rewriting[edit]

I would suggest adding a link to List of weapon upgrades instead of adding incomplete copies of tabels in that page. Current tables are confusing since they don't contain any information what stats they give. I mean "The Riddle of Steel" just says "10", but it should say "10 Armor (vs. Slashing damage)" instead. I am also planning to rewrite the whole page by categorizing it like "Perfect Weapons", "Perfect Inscriptions", etc... Waiting for your comments... AlicanC 15:41, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

I would prefer not having the lsit at all, but just the link to list of weapon upgrades. I think this page should just explain what perfect would mean. - anja talk 15:43, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
I think that some upgrades should be marked as "always perfect" because they have only fixed values, e.g. "I Have the Power" always means +5 energy. --Slavic 04:55, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
What about "Swift as the Wind" With 20%? Ariyen 20:13, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Yes, all condition-related inscriptions always have 20% value. I think that word "perfect" is not a best term for this case, maybe better to call them "invariable". Again, I suggest to mark all invariable inscriptions in the table (maybe with other colour, italic style or in other way) and add a few words for explanation. --Slavic 14:19, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Some of the Condition Related inscriptions I had gotten, had been less than the percentage described. So, I think you're wrong. I had gotten ones that were like 12 or 15% in drops on newbie areas, etc. I will leave it be as it can actually range in percentage. Thanks for suggestion. 72.148.31.114 18:15, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
This page does not provide the meaning of each inscription. List of weapon upgrades is indeed more informative.
I don't think it needs to provide the meaning. As that's already on the List of weapon upgrades . Why have it in two places. People can see if it's perfect or not and if they want to know the meaning, they can go to the weapons upgrades area. After all it does state this in the description -> "This is a list of all the upgrade components for weapons that are currently available, and what their perfect bonus would be. The bonus description isn't listed as that can be found in the list of weapon upgrades." Surely one who wrote that "the page doesn't provide the meaning" isn't blind enough to see that description in the page. Ariyen 09:06, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
The simple fact is this is a Terms page, and as such should at the very least contain the definition of the term. Everything else is extra, and quite simply the lists of upgrades is really redundant to the List of weapon upgrades. As it is, they are badly laid out, and are creating massive whitespace. They should at least be condensed. -- Wyn User Wynthyst sig icon2.png talk 09:50, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

I redid the layout. Hope it looks better now. Ariyen 18:57, 22 July 2009 (UTC)

Perfect Salvage Kit[edit]

Should there be any mentioning of a Perfect Salvage Kit?--Titania La Fey 07:30, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

I think it would be worth mentioning, especially since it should only need a note on the end of the article. I tried to add a section called 'Other Items' saying "A perfect salvage kit will remove upgrades from equipment without the risk of the salvaged item breaking." but I couldn't do it without messing up the table above. 109.145.208.77 12:24, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
It would get lost as a bottom note, so I added it to the top. The article is really about how perfect is used as an unofficial prefix to mean, "max stats," so technically the PSK isn't perfect. But that's a distinction that is too subtle to prevent prominently noting the item in the article. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 17:02, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
