TPF[edit]

At the risk of sounding like a tard whats tpf?Biter Irontooth 01:01, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Texmod Package File (I assume). It's basically just a file containing instructions for which textures to replace in memory. They're built using Texmod as you may have guessed. -- AT(talk | contribs) 03:49, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

I know its a little late but thanks

RapidShare[edit]

I am a little confused about the changes that http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/125.238.12.202 has made to the listing. It seems all he did was replace some download links with rapidshare ones instead. Were the other links dead? -- Gemini User Gemini-ico.gif 9 January 2008

I just checked the previous links, all of them still seem valid, so this concerns me somewhat. Reverting to be safe. -- AT(talk | contribs) 15:26, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Drunkard Aid[edit]

I think a good idea, akin to the cartography titles, is to have a Drunkard title Aid. Not quite sure how to work it, maybe find the skin for the various drunk levels, and edit them to have a border around thw whole screen, or something. Anyone else have any ideas? Lonely Monk 22:22, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

Thats maybe not possible, cause the dunkard animation isnt any texture, its a post processing ani, its only a algorithm. Mystic Gohan 13:23, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Black Bambi Picture[edit]

Is it just me, or is the picture link broken? Striker Balmung

Henchmen Armor Mod[edit]

Sorry, but I don't really see any difference...could someone point it out to me? =/ 99.237.74.130 04:28, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

They seem to be alot higher res. Striker Balmung 07:38, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

This page is getting huge[edit]

I'm glad to see so many people getting into making mods, but this page is starting to get a bit cluttered. I think we may need to subdivide this page to make it a little easier on the eyes. Perhaps creating a subpage for each category.--Pyron Sy 20:42, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

  • That sounds like a good idea. Farlo 22:34, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
I've made the subpages, but I'm not quite sure of the best way to remake the main catalog page. I put a test page up in my user space, if someone with a bit more wiki experience wants to lend a hand.--Pyron Sy 23:12, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
sounds like a good idea to chop it up to more sub pages i a good idea. --話す priestess donut 寄付23:55, 2 February 2008 (UTC)

Better Looking Characters (are they possible).[edit]

Ok, I've tried forever, I've got everything fixed that I want fixed, all except for the way the assassin looks. Is there a possible way to make the male assassin's head apear as he does in this picture? http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/6/63/Assassin_Elite_Canthan_armor_m_dyed_front.jpg All I want is the better lookin eyes and the hair to be gone, if its possible, please let me know. Thanks. Johnathan Allen 01:40, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

It may be possible to remove the hair, but not much can be done with the eyes because you can't change the shape of the facial features.--Pyron Sy 01:45, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Alright. At least I know that it may be possible. My idea on the eyes was kinda like I did back in my Fable:The Lost Chapters modding days, when I couldn't change the character model or shape, I could alter the skin on the face a little, because basically it's just a sheet around a wire frame structure that makes up the model, and if done right, it wouldn't end up with large gaps through its head, dunno about here, but I think the same idea applies here. As for the hair, I cannot for the life of me get it to go away, and I've tried every idea I can come up with. If anyone else has some free time and can figure out how to at least get rid of the hair, I'd be happy. Any ideas and suggestions are welcome ****also on another minor note, is it possible to make paragon wings show constantly?. Johnathan Allen 02:08, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
For the hair, you'd have to work on the alpha channel to make the entire mass transparent. For the wings, it's not possible, because the model for the wings is only there when casting.--Pyron Sy 02:18, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
Where is the alpha channels? A different texture? I am trying to find out the transparency color as well for armors, trying to change up monk tattoos. I can find the normal armor texture for the cloth/tattoos but editing that will not allow transparency it seems. — Rappy 00:52, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Alright, this is just plain sad, but I am completely out of ideas of how to fix it. http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=gw002rd9.jpg is what it comes out as when you remove the hair. I've got more pics to show the full extent of the cone head, but I think one does the job well enough. Anyone got a clue on how to make the head look right?Johnathan Allen 22:21, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Another question[edit]

Hi everyone. I've heard of a mod that adds a little vertical bar right in the middle of the health bar, helpful to point when someone's health's down under 50%, giving ease to use skills such as Word of Healing, Zealous Benediction, Final Thrust, etc. Can someone help me by indicating me where I can find that little bar, or whatever else does the trick? Thanks in advance. -- Fexghadi 81.247.64.248 07:00, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

The mod you're looking for is Meta's UI Enhancement. It's listed under the UI modifications page.--Pyron Sy 23:13, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I found it (here : http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/User:AT/Mods) but the link's dead. Gonna check yours. :( -- Fexghadi 81.247.64.248 01:08, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
Worked, but it changes some other things I don't want to be changed. Is there a way to simply keep the scaled health bar and delete the other modifications the .tpf file brings? Though I think there isn't, yet I'm asking, you never know... -- Fexghadi 81.247.64.248 01:16, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
As of right now, no one has released a mod that only changes the health bar. Perhaps the creator, or one of the other mod makers can work on one that changes only the health.--Pyron Sy 11:20, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
I actually made a simple health bar for myself (marks 75%, 50% and 25% so you can see who really needs the heals), I'll get around to putting it up in the UI Enhancements page when I have some free time. 72.161.127.239 19:43, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
Hey Fex. I'll try and dig out the mod for the health bars, if I remember correctly, we made it modular so that you can remove anything you don't like. This was a while back though, so I could be wrong. -- AT(talk | contribs) 01:41, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Packing[edit]

How can i combine exsiting mods with other like the blue interface with the critical hit mod put together? 216.45.99.102 23:47, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

You can't combine two mods into one. All you can do is run multiple mods to achieve a similar effect.--Pyron Sy 23:50, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Is re-texturing the mouse possible?[edit]

Has anyone located the mouse texture? Is it possible to recolor the mouse? I'm sorry but when you get into large mobs with a dozen spell effects going off it is impossible to see the mouse pointer on the screen. I was thinking that if the colors were inverted - black with a golden edge/highlight it would work better. The black will make it stand out from bright spell effects, the gold will make it possible to see against dark backgrounds. Thoughts, Comments or Opinions? -- Sabardeyn 20:00, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Texmod can't capture the image for the mouse, so it's not possible with this program.--Pyron Sy 21:00, 13 March 2008 (UTC)
It should be able to. Most of the mouse cursors are ATEXDXT1 files in the 00008440 to 000084460 range. -- Gordon Ecker 20:49, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Even though the textures are in the dat, Texmod cannot capture mouse textures. It's beyond the scope of this program to change the mouse.--Pyron Sy 21:06, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Interesting. By the way, I found the rest of the cursor textures, they're from 00110217 to 00110221. -- Gordon Ecker 21:11, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Aggro management[edit]

Is it possible to make a mod that keeps track of aggro, or is that information only server-side? Elipsion 20:28, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

With texmod you can only change existing graphics, and as there isn't an image file used for npc tracks, it's most likely impossible. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 20:33, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
So the only mods that can be done is basically UI and other graphic-mods? Elipsion 20:40, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Imageshack Mandatory[edit]

There are atleast 3 modshere that have links to sample's that are marked as trojans. I think we should make all sample images have to either be hosted on the wiki, or on Imageshack/other image site. And if we find one that 's hosted elsewhere, we should re-upload it to said website for safety. Farlo 19:46, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
I agree. I know there are already a few samples uploaded to the wiki, and since it is game related images, I don't think there would be a problem with uploading them all here.--Pyron Sy 02:57, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, if no one had any objections, maybe we could make a thing like Image:Texmod_<modname>.jpg or something to keep them organized as texmod pics and not user pics. And if we did do somethig like this, I'd gladly go through and change them all.
I would think, given current policy, they would still need to be considered user images. Maybe we should get a sysop to clarify this. I'd hate to go through all the trouble just to have it undone due to policy violation.--Pyron Sy 13:21, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
In my opinion, these images should not need to classified as user images. They are used to document the game and its features (modding), so I don't see a problem with general names. Naming them something with Texmod is a great idea, makes maintenance even easier. - anja talk 14:11, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
I wouldn't mind a "texmod sample" field created next to the "user space" and "guild space" (in the image upload menu). That way, people that aren't the creator can upload pics (if the texmod works, people can take their own pictures and upload them to showcase said mod). We'd have to poke poke and see if he could get that done, though. -Auron 14:13, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
I don't think we get enough "texmod samples" to legitimate such an option there :P Also as Anja said, there isn't a problem with a general naming - of course something with Texmod in it is better, but not needed. poke | talk 14:28, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Wiki-based samples it is then. Since there are no objections, then I'll use Texmod_(modname).jpg for the naming scheme. I'll start work on the UI enhancement mods, and work down the list from there.--Pyron Sy 14:41, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I'll get cracking too, me and you can knock em out in a few hours... ~Farlo Talk 19:36, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Also, what did you add to the image page? is there a Texmod template?
I just marked it as screenshot. Seems the best choice to me. I've already taken care of all the images except in the equipment category.--Pyron Sy 20:10, 3 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I did that section, I guess we're done. Anythign else we need to do to revamp? Also, I changed the template at the top of all the pages to go along with what we did. Change 'em if you they need changing. ~Farlo Talk 21:14, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Request[edit]

I request a mod that shows on the compass adjacent, nearby, earshot, etc.--User Fire Tock sig.jpgFireTock 00:29, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Mkay, I haven't made a minimap mod before, but I could give it a shot. Do you just want a series or rings or them labeled or what? ~Farlo Talk 04:26, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
Support this. And I vote for a series of rings, with maybe to the side the order they go in. (Adj, Near, Area, Ear)They dont have to be on the lines, but maybe just to help remember the order? ~~ User:Frvwfr2 frvwfr2 (talk · contributions) 20:13, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
I tried to make it, but it looks really bad. Guess I'm not that good with circles :P. Also, on the Area of Effect page, most of the ranges are so close together they show as a clump of white on the radar. The only one worth showing is the "In the Area" one. Adjacent and Nearby are too close and too small to matter, earshot is just the aggro bubble, and there are already mods for spirit radars. ~Farlo Talk 16:01, 9 August 2008 (UTC)
ok, what if you did this: copied the game and made it transparent, like the ring around for wanding/casting range. and just made is closer and closer to your players green dot, like adjacent would be circling your green dot. Also, maybe to help that you could make them all still transparent, but have the ring around the area a different color to see easier then somewhere on the scren put what it means like have nearby be dark blue then in the middle left of the screen put like
  • Adjacent = green
  • Nearby = darkblue
  • in the area =red
  • earshot/casting/wanding range= black or something.--User Fire Tock sig.jpgFireTock 04:42, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Didn't really get what you were saying there, but the colors wouldn't make that much of a difference. Also, I tried different colors and it didn't fix the fact that the ranges are so clumped together and small that it just looks like a weird rainbow thing. I'm done trying, so if anyone else wants to give it a shot, be my guest. ~Farlo Talk 05:08, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Archives[edit]

I'm thinking make the 1st 40 topics (up to "Better Looking Characters") into a new archive. This page is getting a bit long.

Ok, added all Archives from July to December to Archive. I think it looks a lot better :) ~Farlo Talk 04:42, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Pet Skins[edit]

I'm in need of some help. I'm making a mod much like my High res Henchie armor, but for pets. If you'd like to help, you'll need a lvl 20 pet that is on this list: List. Contact me in-game and we can meet up and whatnot. Thanks in advance for anyone stepping forward to make a difference :P ~Farlo Talk 22:11, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Texmod Images Template[edit]

I'm posting a lot :P. I made a template like "{{user image}}" or "{{guild image}}" for texmod images. So just add "{{texmod image}}" in the summary for sample images. I guess I'll go through to the ones now and change it. ~Farlo Talk 07:33, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Safety[edit]

to ensure this is safe for anyone using it i think it would be best if eac was tested and actually works and is virus free by either deleting the ones that are wrong or adding a note to each one on whether it's safe or unsafe.--User Fire Tock sig.jpgFireTock 02:35, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Each mod is safe is what you mean I'm guessing. I very commonly monitor the mod pages and anything that doesn't link to a .tpf I delete. If a URL is ever changed, I look into it, and since it hasn't happened yet, I doubt it's very likely someone will somehow (not a programming wiz) embed a virus in a .tpf file. And if one is somehow corrupted, many posts would be made very quickly, and it would be pulled down fairly soon after. I think with me and all the others watching these pages, the files are pretty safe. ~Farlo Talk 07:29, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
In response to this, I thought it might be a good idea to make all the links for downloads to show the full URL so that you can plainly see that the link is to a .tpf. Also, I'd like to maybe provide a link somewhere besides this talk section to MediaFire/RapidShare, or any other trusted uploading site, there are a few here that go to weird places, and that can sometimes be bad. Not gonna touch anything unless a few more agree, so speak up. ~Farlo Talk 04:52, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

Question With Mods URGENT![edit]

Is it posible to "stack" mods? Like run two or three of them at once? Like if want a white tormented shield and a red lightning storm, is that possible? (btw thats the combo im looking for) Any advice/feedback is appreciated. Either post here or PM me in-game at Maester Sentry. Thanks in advance..!

Urgent? sure... And yes, it is possible to run more than one at once. simply hold the Ctrl to select multiple mods to load. If there are two or more mods editing the same item, the mod higher(est) on the list will take priority. Hope this helps. ~Farlo Talk 20:16, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

old log in screens[edit]

hi any1 know if its possible 2 use texmod to bring back to old login screens like the factions or nightfall log in screens im getting sick of the EotN one and were stuck with it forever unless plauync decides to add another expansion to the 1st one after GW2 is out

It is not possible with texmod (or anything else for that matter) texmod does not work like that, the login screen was more than just a few simple textures which is unfortunate as i know alot of people would love the old prophecies one back... T1Cybernetic 15:17, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
ok thanks, i might email plaync and ask them if they can put an option on the load screen before u login to choose which one you want :) that would be awsome--Moosymoose 04:48, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
This has been asked numerous times, and the response has been that due to technical limitations, it's not possible to go back to the old screens.--Pyron Sy 05:30, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
You can change the background to match what older login screens look like (if they're still in the dat file, I'm not sure if they are). You can't change the models of what the characters stand on, so making the factions loadscreen and the prophecies load screen would be impoeeible. You can get the nightfall load screen pretty close I assume. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 06:55, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
That would be a bad assumption. The only piece of the Nightfall screen that could be carried over to the current one without looking horribly misaligned is the sky. And even that would look bad with everything else going with a frozen north theme. However, since it's impossible to get the textures from the old screens, it would have to be remade from scratch anyways. You could do a total unique reskin of the current login, but it wouldn't look anything like the old screens.--Pyron Sy 14:27, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
The textures should still be on the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall install discs. -- Gordon Ecker 22:53, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
For anyone willing to do a fresh install and go dat diving. However, after playing around with it for a bit today, I noticed that you'll still never be able to get rid of the snow. So any modifications will still have the frozen theme.--Pyron Sy 23:43, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
Even that won't work, Texmod requires the game to be running, and the game will patch itself to EotN before it shows that screen, so unless you can get them straight from the .dat, which I haven't seen possible (and Anet might also not like that extreme of editing), I think you're kinda screwed :( ~Farlo Talk 00:00, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
You can use one of the available dat browsers to pull the texture out, so that isn't the problem. The main issue is that you can't really change anything to an earlier screen without it being horribly mismatched with the frozen tundra meshes and snowfall.--Pyron Sy 00:07, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
ok thanks anyway still hoping they will add it tho, i never got to see any other than factins and eotn because i didnt get GW till factions was out and didnt play between factions coming out and nightfall coming out--Moosymoose 07:48, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
Some of the mountains in the EOTN and Nightfall screens are actually part of the sky, it just looks seamless. You can get everything pretty close except the stand the characters are on. ~Shard User Shard Sig Icon.png 23:13, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, they replied to me simply sying suggest it on the official wiki or fansites the techincal guys are alwas watching, its liek they didnt ven bother reading my question and said suggest it on here lol Moosymoose 03:19, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Question[edit]

So, does anyone here actually make mods? If they do, I wanted some good and free editing softwarea if they are willing to share...Just post here Sentry007 18:40, 26 December 2008 (UTC) Sentry Sentry007 18:40, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Yes, we do. I think it's safe to say most of us use TexMod. And, what do you mean by "editing software?" There are lots of things you can edit. I'm going to assume you mean image editing, since that's most of what the work in making TexMods is (aside, perhaps, from extracting the textures, but that's just tedious, not really work). I recommend getting PhotoShop and GIMP. You'll need both, since neither of them is perfect. Both are 100% free. Some people like to slap a label on the PhotoShop thing and say it's $700.00 or so, but those people are blatant liars. There are only about four people on earth who have paid for a copy of PhotoShop. --Jette 19:13, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Question II[edit]

Maybe stupid question, but is the mod only visible for yourself or do other players see it 2? (I assume so)
It's only visible for yourself. --71.229.253.172 10:08, 26 January 2009 (UTC)
You can spread them around your friends and post it on the mod page so that others see them also ;) T1Cybernetic 10:28, 26 January 2009 (UTC)

Having a little trouble[edit]

For most mods i use, it comes up with a "Shit Happens, D'oh" sign, then my virus control picks up a dodgy file. Is it me or the mod? (Btw use the cartographer mod if it helps) Flaming Hot Chilli 02:41, 20 March 2010 (UTC)

That is most likely you. All the mods on here have been checked and are working unless otherwise stated. The virus program is probably blocking Texmod from doing it's thing, so try disabling or adding Texmod to the exceptions list in your virus program and trying it again. Hope this helps. ~Farlo Talk 06:38, 20 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks, I disabled my virus control before in used the mod, and it worked! For the record I used NOD32 antivirus sytem, so thats a bit dodge with Textmod Files. Flaming Hot Chilli 04:12, 26 March 2010 (UTC)
Yeah, anti-virus programs generally flag Texmod because it modifies other applications during runtime. User Felix Omni Signature.pngelix Omni 04:29, 26 March 2010 (UTC)

25% 50% 75% health bar mod[edit]

I know that there is a health bar mod out there like this in a total UI package but i was wondering if there might be a way to get this mod stand-alone. i have been fiddling with it myself but i do not have the talent in modification of images to complete this task. Luci

I thought there was a standalone mod for that at one point... hmm... Let me unpack one of the UIs and see if I can get at the textures from there. Hell I might upload it as a standalone mod anyways. ~Farlo Talk 19:34, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
Alright, it was pretty easy, I unpacked Meta's UI and saved the health bar by itself, so here's a .tpf with just that. It should work by itself, and if you load it over any other UI mod, it should work there too, as long as this is higher on the list.
http://rapidshare.com/files/413156884/Health_Markers.tpf ~Farlo Talk 20:22, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
Unless you like the bars changing to dark as they go down, that mod won't work, and ym photoshop doesn't like alphas or they don't like me, so if one of the other modders wants to fix mine, please do :D ~Farlo Talk 00:52, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

Backup tpf Storage?[edit]

Thought of this after we've seen quite a few mods drop off the grid once the rapidshare links died, or for other reasons, and I was thinking of making a Box.net shared folder or whatever they called it, which anyone could upload to, and could be used as a backup in case the mirrors posted by the author are erased. Perhaps as soon an author puts up a mod, one of us who "moderates" these pages can upload it to that shared folder, and perhaps give an open link to the folder on the page, so every mod can be downloaded right from there. Thoughts or supporters? ~Farlo Talk 21:29, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Removing shine and shadow (for green/blue screen)[edit]

I am trying to make a green/blue screen. I have located and changed the textures i need to do it but I'm struggleing to remove the shine and shadows and because of this the colour has slight variations in it, making it almost impossable to use the chroma key perfectly. Is anyone able to tell me where I'm going wrong or have a green/blue sceen mod I can use? Thanks --madhatter 11:23, 11 December 2010 (UTC)

Cartograpgy tfp files?[edit]

Where can I find them? Shouldn't they be here?

Well, if you didn't care to read the page, this is a "hub" of sorts for the different categories of mods. The Cartography Made Easy section can be found here. ~FarloUser Farlo Triad.pngTalk 20:07, 24 August 2011 (UTC)

Pet XP Bar[edit]

Has anyone ever done a pet xp bar to help with tracking pet xp when the pet is below level 20? Is it possible to do this in Texmod? If no one has done it and it is possible, how difficult? And, this is my first post, ever, in a wiki! Thank you, in-advance.

Hi, unfortunately TexMod only allows appearance modification of existing interfaces - so since there is no pet xp bar, its impossible to create with texmod. sorry >_> -Chieftain Alex 09:44, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
