Racism[edit]

So apparently ArenaNet doesn't care about racism in guild tags and as verbal abuse. I just sent in a report with screenshots of a guy with the guild tag [CHUG] and he was running around calling Canthan characters "DIRTY CHINKS" and Nightfall people "NEGROS." And I got a reply from one of the GM's saying that those words have have been "deemed appropriate" and the person did not have the intend on racial abuse. I'm convinced you can't report for racial abuse (verbal abuse) in Guild Wars now. Honestly, I don't care about the situation, but if you can report for verbal abuse and not racial abuse, then what's point? I mean if a guy was insulting me and calling me a dirty negro or whatever, and I get angry (i'm human, I have emotions) and start swearing at him, I would be the only one reported and have the temporary account ban. Seems real stupid to me. I am Squirrel 08:30, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

Either you're full of shit or the GM isn't doing his job. I've been banned for racism after quoting lyrics from a well known snoop-dogg song. --BriarUser Briar Sig 3.jpgThe Spider 08:33, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
You were banned for listening to bad, lame, music, not the racism.124.191.57.178 11:49, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

City Trolls[edit]

The trolls in Guild Wars have gotten really bad lately and it's irritating me. I'm not sure if we have a bunch of bored folks hanging around due to the hot weather, school being out, or what but they sure don't seem to be actually playing the game much! Step into Ascalon in Pre, or LA or Kamadan in post and you're sure to find the same people hanging out being rude and obnoxious in all chat. They seem to always be there, taking over the chat channel and generally making rude comments to anyone who dares to say anything. My question is what do we do about them? They seem to be very good at being rude while generally not using profanity or making racist or sexist comments. They thrive in that "gray area" where I'm not sure if they should be reported or not. I know we can report players for "verbal abuse" but what defines that? Plus we're warned that abusing the reporting system subjects our own account to being suspended or banned. So what do we do? I don't want Guild wars to be "sterile" where we can't chat and have a good time but the rudeness of these people is really starting to wear on me. Yes, I know we can ignore them but who wants their ignore list to be longer than their friends list? --JohnT 20:15, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Report them and let ANet decide if they are in the gray area or not. Arguably, if someone is annoying 1x in all-chat and never, ever again (or apologies via PM to someone), perhaps it's not too bad. But if they repeatedly come into all chat to stir ppls up, then ANet probably wants them to learn to behave differently. AFAIK, ANet never perman-bans someone for bad language alone, so your reporting won't result in any injustices. (There's always a full review of chat logs, the overall account history, etc.) — Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 20:27, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

Anet Shows No Hate for Botters and Leechers[edit]

It's no secret to most players. Botters, leechers and leavers have finally overrun Jade Quarry.

But it's also no secret that they are doing so without concern, since ANet appears to be paying absolutely no attention whatsoever to what's going on in JQ.

It's rampant on both sides.

I've been in JQ and actually come right out and asked if anyone else is human, only to get no response. More often than not, it's because - based on the behavior of the characters - they're all bots.

I realize that you folks at ANet are busy finishing the WoWified version of GW for release soon (GW2), but for those of us who are still playing GW, and intend to keep playing, the unconscionable amount of bots, leechers and leavers in JQ is making it unplayable.

You certainly must get the reports. I know I see people getting reported all the time for leeching and I report bots every time I identify them.

So why are so many still in the game? Seriously.

First, ANet doesn't read this page (or not typically, anyhow). Second, ANet bans botters and leechers daily; there are just so many new ones that ANet is only handling a small fraction of the problem.
Since obviously ANet can (and no doubt should) do better, you can make an official suggestion in the Feedback space (if you don't want to register, you can offer your idea here and hope that someone else formally picks it up). Alternatively, you can comment on a number of existing suggestions — one of my favorites suggests eliminating all passive rewards from PvP and replacing them with improved rewards for winners and individual efforts. – Tennessee Ernie Ford (TEF) 04:01, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
I think part of the problem is it can be hard to tell a bot from a noob since both behave in similar ways (ie. attacking the nearest enemy even if they're not a priority target, running around aimlessly, using bad skills etc.). Anet can't just ban everyone who gets reported as a bot because there would be even more complaints than there are now, they have to take the time to confirm that the player is a bot. It takes time and theres so many bots they just can't stay on top of them all. 86.168.228.96 10:35, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
"ANet bans botters and leechers daily" If bots are banned permanently, not because TEF is saying it but just mentioning that ANet "does" take action... why is it that they dont display a list of banned bots accounts by character names to reflect their efforts to the community (for better feedbacks)? I mean,... if they are perma-banned its no "Character Assassination", right? User Yoshida Keiji Signature.jpg Yoshida Keiji talk 10:51, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

Threshhold[edit]

Is anyone familiar with how the reporting system works? What is the report number requirement for ANet to review a log? Does that number need to be 30 individual ip address reports or can it be purely 50 reports from any source even if multiple reports from the same source? Invite Spam[edit]

I have no idea if this is possible or advisable... but can you report someone for spamming guild invites on you? I've been pestered by a guy doing so incessantly tonight while I tried to trade stuff in spamadan. I've no interest in joining any guilds, especially his. It's actually a nuisance. But I'm not sure it'd be considered spamming. ...Though he might also be a bot set to invite guildless people, as not once did he say anything. No idea if any action will ever be taken on it anymore anyway, but it'd give ME satisfaction. Thoughts? ...And as a side note, if I set him to my Ignore list... does that block guild invites also? LAZ (talk) 06:17, 13 January 2017 (UTC)

I doubt ignoring him would stop him from sending guild invites since it doesn't stop party or trade requests either. But you can just let him send you an invitation and leave it there, you don't have to accept nor decline it. Or if you really hate having that invite there, just join a random guild (or make your own), he won't be able to send you invites then. As for reporting, there is the "spamming" option you can report them for if that makes you feel good, but I can guarantee they will not get banned for it. Jeree95 (talk) 15:40, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, that's the problem. I mean, I'd be inclined to just let him invite me if I didn't see it in chat every time he did. (Part of the issue is that I'm so deadset against ever joining a guild again that I've got a character with The Guildless in his name. I'm proud of the lack of guild tag following my screennames around.) LAZ (talk) 18:44, 13 January 2017 (UTC)
Lol ;D The name *might* have something to do with why you keep getting random invites. Jeree95 (talk) 16:33, 14 January 2017 (UTC)
Well, I wasn't on that one at the time. XD I did debate that name for a while, though. LAZ (talk) 05:08, 15 January 2017 (UTC)
