As the drop rate for these things is mighty low, 10 shards can take ages to gather. I feel 10 is too much to ask, and 5 would be a better amount. I've been saving these from the start, and so far, I have saved 18 of them since NF came out. That means only 1 of my 10 characters has been able to complete this quest. Thoughts? 85.150.208.33 12:48, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm in the same boat - I have 11 PvE characters and ~18 shards... Now, not all of them have played Nightfall to completion, so I'll probably end up with a few more randomly killing Monoliths here and there. But I think that, just like Last of the Breed, I'll have to end up "farming" for these extensively at some point in the future. It would be nice if it was reduced to 5. Maybe the drop rates increased? I've just started SS/LB farming from Sahlahja, and had 3 shards drop in just 2 runs. Kirbett 01:06, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
And after 5 days now of SS/LB farming, I've collected over 30 of them. Kirbett 22:56, 2 March 2009 (UTC)
In a single run of SS/LB farming (if you're in the area I thinking of), you kill more Monoliths than a normal player would ever encounter during the normal course of the game. :\ It's too bad the ones in Abaddon's Gate don't drop shards, that would be an easy farming spot. About the drop rate... It took me 8 runs of SS/LB farming to get 10 shards. There's the 22 monoliths at the temple initially, plus 5 if you're on A Show of Force, which means I did 216 kills, for an average of 5% drop rate (on Hard Mode).--Erunehtar (talk) 14:52, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

trivia[edit]

Removed a link to the accept message being to duke nukem... unless theres an official link for that then "Lets Rock" is a pretty common trope... the dukes also references the same old trope... MrPaladin talk 19:08, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
