Hehe... the fight did not start, I walked all over the place without trigerring the event that turn hostile the other team, so, after 5 minutes or so, I opened the bowserto come here and report the bug... when I came back, the battle finally started, so the event triggered, without my character moving... so I changed the bug to 'it sometimes takes a lot of time to start' intead of 'it sometimes never start'... Ah! And it was not lag! I had 'green ping' the whole 5 minutes I waited. MithranArkanere 13:22, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I've heard of this happening to other people as well. It's relatively rare - though I never knew it to fix itself with time (I've also just rezoned the one time it happened to me). Kami No Kei 00:29, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Could it have been that you guys weren't close enough to trigger the hostility? I have just done the quest a couple of times and when I placed Frozen Soil on path down from the Arena Master Portus, the convicts sometimes didn't turn hostile until I was in near arms reach. When I started planting the spirit on the ramp to the right of the convitcs, they never failed at showing their hostility.Angron 04:42, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

I just tried to do this Farm Quest with my TripleNecroVanquish, but from about 20 runs four times the quest didn't started even after waiting 10 minutes. Maybe its cause they heal my minions ? Gib Resahp 6th November 2008

This quest seems to be getting worse. Out of the last four times I've accepted it, only once did they become hostile. I've tried waiting. I've tried running throughout the entire arena. I even went and vanquished the rest of the zone after accepting the quest, running amongst the convicts, and even when I returned and sat in the midst of them, they never became hostile. I tend to bring a minion master hero, so I'm not sure if the script is disrupted by the convict monks healing the minions. I've let the minions die, but they still will not fight. Anyone else have any other ideas? --Thervold 01:32, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

Team Build[edit]

An easy team to farm this in about 2-3 minutes with is (assuming you have heroes). Zhed and Acolyte Sousuke (both SF Eles), Master of Whispers (SS Nuker), Yourself (Any/R or R/Any) with Frozen Soil, and the Argo, Kai Ying, Seaguard Gita, and Sister Tai. With this build you should be able to nuke all of the enemies in under a minute once you activate the quest. Good luck to all who use this to FFF. Kami No Kei 00:48, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

This is exactly the same quest as referred to as FFF, however it plays a little differently. As Kami mentions above it is possible to accomplish this task alone with heroes and henchmen. As an Ele (Searing Flame with Frozen Soil - instead of Recall), I found it worked better for me by swapping the Master of Whispers for Acolyte Jin with Barrage and Frozen Soil; otherwise I used the same team. Leaving from Breaker's Hollow, I spoke to the priest for the blessing, headed southeast fighting the first mob of monsters. There are two ways into the arena; over the small island fighting Oni's (quicker), or around the island fighting another three mobs (earn more faction). Regardless of the route, I flagged the party just outside of aggro range (the top of the bottom-most ramp), spoke to the Arena Master, ran down to the party and aggro'ed the convicts. Just make sure that Frozen Soil is always active since ritualists will resurrect opponents very quickly. Another thing to keep in mind is that, unlike a group of players, you cannot control all characters with accuracy - so you cannot do enough DPS to spike your opponents. Despite this, completing the quest is very easy. So far I've made a half dozen runs taking 4 minutes to complete.

Does Recall still work?[edit]

Since the skill balance update to prevent PvP split teams from using it is this method still effective? I haven't tried it, to be honest, and so I could be very wrong. If not, it should be removed from the Notes section. - Thulsey Zheng - talk 05:41, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Jade Flat hff run build[edit]

2 monk henchman

1 fire henchman

1 earth henchman

3 heroes with OgljosMqpO4icGdbsWENiEjdMA

make sure they r all runed up wit sup fire , major vigor , major energy storage

I put blessed insignias on heroes which works great with fire attunement

I recommend an norn of 5 and above for the ursan clean up .

warrior runners build OQITE3qiVqrgu86AAYzg2AAwoEA

I have not tried other classes yet but in theory any class with high ursan should work

any primary class of runner should work using this build OQITE3qiV6X74gu86AAYzg2woEA

copy and paste into template code field

turn off fall back by left shifting on the icons .

you need 2 control their use.

Sequentially use fall back as u run them

The hardest part of the run is the 1st 3 guys at the top of the stairs.

if they are to the right you should be able to run around corner

if they are to the left than you will need to run to the right just enough to get your party around them then double back to pit

if they spawn split right and left than run center up hill past wind mill and follow top edge of map

You could also kill the 3 but this slows down run

The second groups of guys is not much of a threat just keep running

with 3 fall backs u should be able to constantly run heroes at 33%

as I click the fall backs I click them a second time so the auto start the next fall back

click sprint or other run skill so u can get to pit bottom asap

When I make the opening of the pit I click on a visitor above so I can ebon escape to him later

next I flag group at bottom of the wall

ebon escape to top of wall

click frozen soil

sprint or other run skill

run to top of steps and activate quest

sprint or other run skill

highlight 1 of my guys as I come down steps

ebon escape to that guy

ursan and kill remaining

run to get reward

/resign there are a lot of movies on youtube about this and the other runs. This run can be done with 2 accounts on 1 pc more info Azwildbill 16:54, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

There's a considerable amount of info and pics about how to do this run here I have no intention of editing here since the gods of offical wiki like to hack and sack. Its a waste of my time to try to give info only to see it deleted later. Thus I recommend that go elsewhere for info on how to do this fff or hff run. hereAzwildbill 23:01, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Minions preventing criminals from going hostile[edit]

I just did a dozen or so solo runs of this, and I noticed that the criminals consistently refused to go hostile whenever I had my heroes flagged in the middle of the arena. Meanwhile, whenever I allowed them to follow me up to Portus, things went smoothly. I also noticed that the criminals would constantly try to heal Olias's minions whenever the bug was in effect. I tried removing Olias and starting again, and sure enough, the criminals turned hostile on my flagged heroes; I then put him back in and flagged him where the criminals could heal his minions, and this caused the bug to resurface. THEN I come here and noticed that it's already been theorized that minions could have something to do with it.

Has anybody ever seen this bug when minions weren't present? Because otherwise I think the "Sometimes the enemy party will not turn hostile for a couple of minutes" note should be changed to reflect this. The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.179.207.60 (talk • contribs) at 02:16, 7 September 2009 (UTC).

i can confirm this, i just had exactly the same problem, the (supposed) enemy monks were busy healing my minions since i flagged my heroes within the arena because i started from Jade Flats. That monk even almost followed me to Breaker Hollow. later when i encountered them (with henchies flagged away from them) they didn't turn hostile either. fortunately though, vanquishing is still possible. —ZerphatalkThe Improver 15:34, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
I get this bug without minions. 211.27.254.149 17:35, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

The not-turning-hostile bug DOES NOT prevent vanquishes from completing[edit]

Just wanted to add this somewhere. I was very worried that this bug was preventing me from completing a vanquish; luckily, I'd just missed a group, but it took me so long to find them that I was sure the friendly Convicted Criminals somehow counted towards the total. --Wormwood 20:44, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
