Talk:The Movement of the World
Can this be here? Is it copyright PCGamer?--Drekmonger 16:36, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it was written by Ree Soesbee, who's a member of the dev team, so the intellectual copyright is hers, and PC Gamer published it to the web yesterday, so I'd say it's fine. --Santax (talk · contribs) 16:37, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
- Just because someone at ArenaNet wrote it, does not mean that PCGamer has no claim on the text. If given to PCGamer as an exclusive, reprinting it here can be a violation. We could summarize, but direct copying of the text may be an issue. We should contact Gaile to confirm. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 21:31, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
- Okay, Gaile clarified on her talk page late last week that this content is okay to be reproduced on the wiki. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 18:07, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- So...Where is it then? 'Cause the links on the page don't take you directly to the article, and it's not getting any hits on the linked website's search bar. --Jack Faros 06:40, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Not much hope is there![edit]
Things sure look prett grim for Tyria, I hope there will be some expansions where we gain access to Cantha and Elona once again!--TimOfDoom 17:08, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- That's how it reads to me. I'm guessing that we get most of the current Tyria map (including the GWEN stuff) in the initial campaign, and then Elona, Cantha, and other areas will be added with expansions. - Lord Ehzed 17:45, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
- I got the picture that we got both Elona and Tyriafrom the reading...and that orr would be a kind of 1337 area of the game Killer Revan 14:14, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Can't believe that Ascalon does indeed lose to the Charr in the end... sure it looked inevitable from Prophecies. Rurik led the Ascalon Refugees away... with Adelbern holding out with no hope. Still Eye of the North and the Ebon Vanguard made it look like the tide had turned. It looks like I was wrong. Ascalon falls to the Char... Rest in peace. I guess Bonfaaz Burntfur and Hierophant Burntsoul didn't see this victory in their lifetimes, but if only they had known. --Timolas Silverbow 17:38, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
WOW[edit]
I read the entire thing. Thats a pretty crazy future for Tyria. Cantha and Elona are gone (for now). and these new races are fighting vs eachother, and another evil, but also have alliances among eachother (charr and norn)/(Asura, Charr, Slyveri)AND are guided by gods that are forgetting about them. Plus, guilds are still in play?? Lol.. i can;t imagine what the Slyveri are thinking. they were just born and they probably are thinking"wtf is wrong with this world???' 65.24.106.106
Sic[edit]
Seen the history, and most of the edits are changes to "yeras" to "years", and "Tyrian" to "Tyria" - these have the {{sic}} thing there so that means thats what the article is supposed to say. Just wanted to note this here incase any people want to change it in the future. brains12 14:13, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Translation[edit]
I made a manual translation of all of this (I think i'm the only one who made it entire to spanish). You can see it here [1]. I don't know if I should add it to the main article under the "Useful Links" tag as it is a link to a personal blog and I don't wanna have any problems with "spamming" if it can be said like that. Amazing, can't wait now![edit]
As someone before said, I also read the whole thing, although, for some reason I am more interested in what will happen to Cantha, since it was the first campaign I got. What shocked me the most was actually Palawa Joko, I REALLY didn't expect that. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:66.50.114.227 .
- Why would that shock you? The first thing he tries to do is raise an army after he's released. In the story of Vabbi, and Elona as a whole, Palawa was nearly already in control of the entire continent until Turai beat him at the Battle of Jahai. --Lou-Saydus 16:49, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- I can't say Palawa Joko was a big shock. That was a very interesting part of Nightfall, and I remember saying "Oh, boy! We're off the save the world, but I think we just doomed it in the process"... --Mystisteel 17:06, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- The shock for me comes more from the sunspears and order of whispers not giving him a few years or months after nightfall to get used to being helped, than making a secret worm trip to the desolation to grab Palawa and imprison him again. Ah well, at least it gives an easy expansion.Tambora 22:35, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Female Charr?[edit]
"fall of the Shaman caste during the time of the famous Charr heroine Kalla Scorchrazor." Does this mean we're going to get female charr o.O? --Lou-Saydus 16:57, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- If they're smart about the Charr, they'll just say "they all look and talk like that, regardless of gender". In other words, half the Charr we've seen already have been female. I can't see any other way around not seeing a single female Charr this whole time (what, are they wearing bows and nursing the little Charrlings at home? I always pictured Charr running into battle, pregnant, dropping the nugget, handing it at axe, and saying "go pillage") :) --Mystisteel 17:04, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- You're probably right, but i wouldnt put it out of sight, have we seen a female dwarf? --Lou-Saydus 17:12, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- No, I don't think we have! :) --Mystisteel 21:45, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- "How do you know you haven't already met a female dwarf? Eh? Eh?" -Ogden Stonehealer - HeWhoIsPale 21:48, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
- According to the Ecology of the Charr, during the reign of the shaman caste, female Charr were second-class citizens who weren't allowed to fight, so we haven't seen them. -- Gordon Ecker 02:22, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
- The gw furries are going to go nuts over this one. (this one being gw2) --Lou-Saydus 23:45, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
- Chealsea Flameshielder? That sounds like a pure Female charr name! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.121.168.43 (talk).

- Maybe there was a communications error, like with Captain Greywind, who was originally intended to be female, or maybe the didn't make the decision that all the Charr we've seen are male until after Eye of the North was finished. -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 06:35, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Physical impossibility much?[edit]
Correct me if I'm wrong, but water normally flows downhill towards sea level, right? So how is it that damming the river Elon creates a drought in Vabbi but leaves most of Kourna alone? I know Joko is powerful, but to divert the river enough to drought all of Vabbi would basically mean he destroyed the river entirely o.O Silavor 05:52, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
- Northern provinces, that covers both Kourna and Vabbi. The river starts somewhere in the mountains north of the Mirror of Lyss, the river could be diverted into the Holdings of Chokhin, and digging a qanat wouldn't be that hard, as there are monsters capable of burrowing through solid rock, and even if undead mandragors and wurms are unsuitable, regular undead could do the digging. -- Gordon Ecker 10:14, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Removal[edit]
Why was the content removed from here? And as the link isn't working - and it's still published on the GW2W @ http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Movement_of_the_World - shall we change the link to point there instead? Eerie Moss 09:59, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
