Talk:Traveler's Walking Stick
Quote source[edit]
I was kind hoping for a special animation or something when you walk with it... but its just a staff.--Glory 18:41, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- Might be interesting to get confirmation on the inspiration for the quote. I too considered Roosevelt, though the simple inclusion of the word 'tread' to me implies that DoW was a more likely candidate.--118.90.18.96 19:56, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Only because Dawn of War is also another place that borrows from Roosevelt... I've considered back and forth if it was worth noting but I have left it out because its not the real source MrPaladin 20:03, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- I'm aware that DoW borrows from Roosevelt's quote, though I think that the dev's inspiration for it should be noted in the trivia section, which may not necessarily be the original form of it.--118.90.18.96 20:18, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- If we can find out if the Devs play DoW and got inspired from there thats fine with me :) MrPaladin 20:22, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- It was a nod to Roosevelt! [John Hargrove] talk 01:36, 26 May 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, it is obviously a tribute to Roosevelt's quote, since Roosevelt was an avid outdoors man, explorer, and traveler.
Design[edit]
Is it just me, or does this staff look very similar to the stick wielded by Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings films? Example --Mme. Donelle 02:34, 30 May 2009 (UTC)
- You mean it looks like a big stick? I never noticed.--Short talk to me 07:41, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- Oh shit you totally got me there. --Mme. Donelle 17:35, 27 July 2009 (UTC)
I’m just seeing Lord of the Rings for the first now, and I’ve come to the wiki to see if the Traveler’s Walking Stick’s obvious influence to Gandalf’s staff had been noted.
Coming from someone who’s seen a lot of walking sticks, staffs, and canes, it’s beyond any doubt this it’s very unique source of inspiration. Eastern Blade (talk) 21:18, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
Hand placement[edit]
When equipped, characters hold the upper part of this staff, causing the lower part to touch the ground while moving. It makes it look like you are actually using it to walk! I have added this under trivia.
- I just wish it was mod-able then i would definitely buy one C4K3 Talk 11:41, 11 July 2009 (UTC)
- Its odd but while in the Deep one of the eles in our party who was wielding this got all the gold zodiac drops, lockpicks and the rest of the good stuff. I probably wind up buying one anyway, just wish it was something more than an ugly wooden stick. Flipper 21:51, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- i think it looks good but the hand placemnet makes me think of the candy cane staff wich also looks like walking in any case thats what i thinkGregar repa 18:54, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

TR![edit]
lol. normally, I'd go for a traditional wand and hold item... but now... I'm totally gonna use this staff for my mesmer... I mean, its TEDDY ROOSEVELT man! Who wouldn't want it? ...Ζεφ 22:37, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
Weapon of Mastery[edit]
I know they diddn't incorporate it but imagine if they did, what do you think would happen? Weaponmaster 17:08, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- Nothing would change. Who would use a staff with Weapon of Mastery? --80.16.169.162 12:48, 15 June 2010 (UTC)
size[edit]
i believe this is the largest staff in the game, i am pretty sure bigger than a Norn staff, not sure about the others
- How does it compare in size to Chrysocola Staff? I haven't had a chance to measure side by side yet, nor compare with the Norn staff (I'll have to make a Norn Staff and find out and with double GW:EN points this weekend it shouldn't be hard to get rank high enough to build one.) The Traveler's Walking Stick may very well be the longest in the game! cecil 10:01, 15 January 2010 (UTC)
- The Traveler's stick may be the longest in the game...--38.124.140.96 17:30, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
- Its true, Chrysocola Staff and the travelers walking stick are almost exactly the same in length, but im sure the Chrysocola Staff is longer.--Neil2250 17:33, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Headline text[edit]
If you were somehow able to acquire 9 in multiple primary stats, would this do extra damage per hit? I'm burning to know.. You can get some points in energy storage from a blessing, even if you're not a primary elementalist, I believe -- or at least wiki says that you get energy still, meaning you might get the actual stats and it's just hidden. Anyone think of any other ways to get primary stats not of your profession?
