Shiro'ken[edit]
- → moved from Talk:Vizunah Square (mission)
What are the Shiro'ken professions which can appear at the end of this mission? I know that there is a ranger, and I'm fairly certain that I've come across a mesmer too. Can anyone confirm my mesmer hunch and provide any info on the other professions? --Aspectacle 17:58, 5 March 2007 (EST)
Glitch[edit]
Well, for some odd reason I have been hearing people say that Togo and Mhenlo get stuck on a bridge in this mission. Has anyone else gotten this problem? -- File:Blackgeneralstar.png (General | Talk) 05:48, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
- There are multiple glitch points in this mission, they are summarized in two types:
- The dialog glitches: In these glitches, after clearing an area (mostly the first area where the two groups meet or the second area leading to the bridge) Mhenlo and Togo will NOT be able to start the dialog that is SUPPOSED to happen after you slay the final boss of the area. This is mainly caused by Minion Masters and their minions pulling Mhenlo (who likes to heal minions in his spare time) too far away from Togo. For some reason, the dialog will not start unless they are close to each other (like within each others' aggro bubble). This will manifest itself in Togo stopping and refusing to move after his group while the other group runs off with Mhenlo. The only remedy is to bring Mhenlo all the way back to Togo to resume the conversation.
- The bridge glitch: This is a lot less common. Sometimes eithe rMhenlo or Togo (I've only seen it happen to Mhenlo) will "fall through" the bridge after the second big fight and will simply be unable to follow the party to the library (site of the third fight). There is no remedy for this and the mission will have to be restarted.

wow...second time that retard togo gets stuck..first at the start and then at end's chest.gg! 80.39.57.83 05:45, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Today, 12/19/2011 all the npc squad from the foreign quarter joined the fight in the first area and promptly ran against the wall above the exit gate. Then after the fight was over, they followed out the gate and ran against the village wall where the second ambush occurs as if they had been flagged off of the map. None of them ever followed after that, even tho Mhenlo and Togo were doing their dialogs and did follow along. Pretty tough to get masters, even in normal mode with only one team :( 99.171.186.77 07:56, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Tip for Hard Mode with H & H[edit]
HM master reward can be acheived with only H&H : 2 Searing Flames El, 1 Jagged Bones MM, 1 Bonder (me), Devona, Cynn, Chiyo and Jamei
Starting from Foreign Quarter, with other group being fully composed of Henchies, made it in a little bit more than 30 minutes (have wasted precious minutes, because Mhenlo was blocked a long time before I notice it ...) --Lna 08:22, 17 January 2008 (UTC)
- Right... None of the hench you named are available :S --Vectrox 15:25, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Provided you start on the foreign quarter side, yes, they are available. Wandering Traveler 15:42, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
This is bs.. I can't complete this is masters on my Warr. I have all toher misisons complete but this one, but can't manage to get past the time limit. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:70.126.186.190 (talk).
I'v done it with a friend in 25.19 min. I was playing as a Triple Chop Warrior, my heroes where a SS Necro, MM bomber and N/Rt Healer, the other guy played as a Fire Nuker, with MM Bomber, Barrage/Interrupt Ranger and LoD Hybrid Monk. The other group was only henchmen. Smooth run, no deaths at all (at our side at least). --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Chreiz (talk).
It is pretty difficult to stay under the time limit for masters because Togo and Mhenlo take so darn long. But make sure you don't let them lag behind, because it will take even longer to have to run back and get them. --The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:71.107.72.133 (talk).
I find the time limit alot easier in HM than NM - so long as you can stay alive and kill fairly quickly, you have more time to spare.Katzchen 07:51, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, we got it in 21:30, did it get nurfed or something, my guild was having trouble doing this when HM first came out..--Ʀєʟʟɑ 05:56, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Completed in HM using all heores with both my warrior and then ranger, but had to start from the Foreign Quarter. When starting from the Local Quarter, after the initial battle the henchies from the other side kept running back to where they started and wouldn't follow the rest of the mission. Henchmen[edit]
Should we note the composition of henchman team should you fail to get allied with a human party? I started at Foreign Quarter and had for my allies:
- Talon Silverwing
- Panaku
- Sister Tai
- Professor Gai
- Kai Ying
- Zho
- Su
- Lo Sha
... Just realised that if you get henchmen for allies it selects all 8 of the henchmen from the other outpost, there are no others xD oops. --File:User Chieftain Alex Chieftain Signature.pngChieftain Alex 11:44, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Ressing[edit]
It really irritates me that there is no way of ressing the other team if they have wiped, whether they are human or hench, a system that includes the res items you get in AB and in unwaking would be really useful.
Another problem is that mhenlo is an idiot and ends up a sitting duck at top of stairs in second last fight if you bring a minion master, wish they would just change his behaviour so that he goes on automatic follow togo mode after the amfah bit.
88.110.3.160 22:44, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Had the very thing with mhenlo doing it h/h. No one else on my team was dead or dying and we were kicking ass. Then notice mhenlo's health take a nose dive and then death. Was like wtf...checked to see where mhenlo could possible have gotten targeted so hardcore to find him standing on top of steps tanking. Checked wiki to see if he had any touch healing skills. Nope, just some bug. Justice 07:38, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Morale Bug[edit]
Not really a bug. Morale goes to the team of 8 who gets the final blow on the boss. The boost is always given to one or the other.--118.90.85.61 17:39, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Recommendation: I Will Avenge You!?[edit]
Reading the description of I Will Avenge You!, I'm a little confused by the recommendation. The skill is supposed to be triggered by dead allies, presumably allied with the skill shouter. The recommendation speaks of many dying NPCs allowing for near continuous buff. Anyone know the truth here? Ralmon the Gen 05:55, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
- The page speaks the truth, from all of the NPCs dying I had a nearly infinite IWAY buff for most of the mission. It does trigger off of NPCs and not just party members or other team mates. Twytch 19:15, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Time Taken - Cinematics[edit]
Does the time taken include the time taken to watch the cinematics? Kirbett 14:56, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- No. The timer is 'frozen' during cutscenes, so you can feel free to go ahead and watch cutscenes without spoiling your chance for Masters. Note that the time at the start of the mission where both teams are waiting to start does not count towards the timer either, so if you were using /age to check your time in the mission, you actually have at least a 45 second leeway from what the command tells you. - Zaxares 01:52, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
BotM[edit]
"note that Blood of the Master can cause a life sacrifice of over 100% if there are too many minions" this should be removed since max controlable minions is 12 (at 20 death magic) --Requiem 17:05, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- "There are usually enough corpses to support 3 or 4 MMs, note that Blood of the Master can cause a life sacrifice of over 100% if there are too many minions." Most people would bring some form of MM and most likely more than one. Since you forgot to include the first part of the sentence, where it says there are enough corpses to support more than 1 MM, the amount of minions can average from 16 to 48 minions (4 MM's at 20 death magic) or even more (though honestly I don't see many people actually doing that). Though from the Blood of the Master page, it does state that "At full health there will have to be at least 48 minions to kill yourself (you will sacrifice 101% health)." FC 19:56, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
- I was in a team where, by accident, there were 4 minion masters. I didnt not kill myself casting BotM. There is no way that you will ever get 6 minion masters(8 minions x 6 = 48) in 1 group. I think what it means though is that you will loose allot of health trying to heal your minions, and will be targeted by enemies more often. Flaming Hot Chilli 07:17, 24 January 2010 (UTC)
- 4 MM is definetly realistic, and all people who want to be proper MM should be using masochism, so 11 minions per MM max. 4*11 = 44 minions 44 * 2 +5 = 93% sacrifice. Basicly, if you take any damage before or after a cast, you're dead, and that's assuming you're at 100% hp, not everyone only spam sac spells at 100% HP. I'd strongly prefer to take dwayna's sorrow instead, for mass party heals instead of minions heals. There's a constant flow of corpses anyway, they can be maintained (i'm not sure if the full 44 can be though...)K2K 07:36, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Both outposts[edit]
"If you have both Local Quarter and Foreign Quarter showing on your map, this mission will count twice for the Protector and Guardian titles."
Is this really true? Seems a pretty significant bug to have gone unnoticed for this long. -- Hong 07:25, 25 October 2009 (UTC)
Another point about the other note about both outposts... is it really an anomaly to say that they are both completed if you complete one? it's like unwaking waters; it's the same mission just two starting points 82.8.227.172 17:34, 3 November 2009 (UTC)
not realy cus its hard to get to other outpost i still cant do it on my main (dang little newbs) ~Nelson (n122333) File:N122333sig image.jpg
I have both foreign and local quarter and just completed hm (masters). I also had Eternal Grove complete in HM (masters). Title track for cathan guardian says 2/13. either i dont understand the note or its just simply wrong. Justice 19:49, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- I think it's badly phrased... My experience is that both Mission outposts show up as needing to be completed (red helmet on the HM map in my case), but completing either of them will complete both. The actual number in the Guardian title-track goes up by one, so both missions together count for 1 in this case. The only other thing I can think of is perhaps you can discover the other Quarter mission outpost after completing one of them and maybe do the mission again from there? Or does one discover an already completed Other Quarter? -- Splodge of Cat 21:45, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
- I just did both HM Masters and it only counted for one point. It's badly phrased and discovering one of the quarters after beating one will not increase the count. --Wolfdm3 23:25, 24 May 2010 (UTC)
- I had NM masters completed and then got both showing on my map. The count did not increase. I am removing the note. To revert this edit, post a screenshot or some other proof that the anomaly note is true.--War_Pig5 09:50, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Glitch?[edit]
I've been trying this mission in hard mode over the past several days. When I start from local quarter, the henchie team arrives for the first battle just fine, but then some or all of them run back the way they came, abandoning the mission. I don't think this is supposed to happen!
- I just suffered through this on two different characters (one born in Ascalon, another born in Elona, if it makes a difference). Came in from Local Quarter (with Togo), while Mhenlo and the Henchies came from Foreign. The cinematic dragged them into the square before they were finished killing the mobs on their route. So, once the doors were opened, Mhenlo stays put waiting to carry on with the mission as normal while the henchmen run back to kill the remaining mobs. Unfortunately, once they've done this, they just stand there. The only way to get them back on track is to get Mhenlo to chase your minions until he's within aggro range of his henchmen -- this triggers them to start following again. It's a dance, though, and eats up a lot of time. MVLM 03:06, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah just had it happen to me. Only Chiyo and Jamei came, the rest were stuck where the last amfah spawn before the first square. Took 35 minutes to do it without the other 6 hench from the hench team, so didn't get Masters. It sure did make the battles a bit more challenging... I'm surprised Chiyo and Jamei survived to the end :). 60.50.243.250 16:59, 19 January 2012 (UTC)
'Mission failed' glitch[edit]
I encountered this glitch a few days ago, but havn't had much time to post screens, so here they are:
Basically, this glitch occured at the start of the mission (Local Quarter, if it helps) after going AFK, I come back and it says the mission failed, with Mhenlo not on the ally list anymore, but of course I was still in the mission, I went to the 2nd battle area, popups working and the gates opening etc., although I /resigned to save time incase the mission didn't end after killing the Shiro'ken, my guess on how it happened is Mhenlo died from Am Fah, I have no real ideas on how to replicate it, sadly. --AP-DarkPortal 00:21, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Scratch that, I meant Master Togo not being on the list, which is even more strange as he accompanies people in the Local Quarter from the start.--AP-DarkPortal 00:29, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- Togo probably died. After a while allies will just disappear from the party list iirc. - Mini Me 22:26, 10 September, 2010 (UTC)
- Eh, scratch that too, I failed at reading. - Mini Me 22:27, 10 September, 2010 (UTC)
Same Glitch starting from local quarter with foreign character, went AFK and it seems like Togo died and Ive gotten the party defeated message popped, all henchmen from foreign quarter but Vhang, Devona and Aidan laying dead and I'm unable to resurrect them. ANET FIX THE AI ALREADY[edit]
Ok - twice in a row on hard mode either Mehnlo or Master Togo has got blocked by a chest. There is no way to finish the mission when that happens as Togo won't be around when hes needed. This is utterly ridiculous after all this time they still have not fixed this bug.
- I wish they fixed this to this is the most annoying mission in gw. They fixed sanctum cay. For me there was no need to. But this one realy needs fixing. Its not a hard mission but i dont like to do this 5 times before Togo wants to go with everyone:-( Koiboysg1
- The trick to not getting togo bugged is to keep mhenlo by his side all the time... that means that the minion master must not keep rushing ahead, making mhenlo follow the minions. In essence it's either chests or minions that screw up the mission. --Lania 04:07, 01 March 2011 (UTC)
- Just got stuck with Togo behind a chest, so I can confirm that the pathing AI is as dumb as ever.--71.185.41.90 09:24, 30 March 2012 (UTC)

Minions Turn Hostile...fixed?[edit]
I did this mission with a friend yesterday and we had an MM Henchman from local quarter in the other team. When the ending cinematic started to play and Shiro killed everyone, the minions ran to the side of the screen. When the envoys resurrected us the minions went back near their original master without attacking anyone till the end of the cinematic. Anyone else experienced this or did anet finally fix that bug? --MageMontu 20:07, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
- That is just a lucky glitch for you. The bug has been fixed, but not in that manner. You become invincible during the cinematic, and probably ALL cinematics, now. - Adark 23:18, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
- (At least) one problem remains, though. Since minions don't degen during the cinematic, they all remain alive--so to speak--until the cinematic actually ends. Just now, I had one of my guys get pwned by my MM's mega-horde of minions in the time between when the cinematic explicitly ends and the party actually 'ports to Dragon's Throat. I'm assuming bad luck that my guy happened to be the target, and that there were enough of them to one-shot him. Fortunately, I'm not shooting for the Leg. Survivor title on this one, so the loss of ~400k XP towards it is shruggable. Even so, I feel sorry for those that are legitimately working on that title (that is, by not just grinding wurms, punching dwarves, eating hammers, etc.), and aren't aware this stupidity can still happen. For those like me, their natural proclivity is to sit back and watch the cinematics at least once. Sad to see this sort of respectful attention can still be rewarded with a boot to the face. Oh well. Kruhljak 06:00, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
Minion Issue[edit]
I've found that most of the time that mhenlo/togo stay behind is due to the fact that they stop to heal minion trains. If you continue running and they keep healing minions, they will eventually go out of the "follow" range, and will wait for you. Pulha 20:10, 6 September 2011 (UTC)
Standard of players starting in local quarter[edit]
Is it just me or are more players more clueless nowadays than they were when factions first came out? If you are reading this for tips, please note that you need to defend Togo in order to prevent instant failure.
Some tips would be good.[edit]
There are three main battle locs. It would be good to have suggestions about where best to locate yourselves for each battle. Esp. if you have two human parties and thus more control over the positioning of your forces.--72.188.16.135 10:35, 27 December 2018 (UTC)
Please Fix The Bugs[edit]
This mission has numerous bugs to this day. Which is frustrating considering its length and the idiocy of the npcs you have to protect. (They sometimes run into the mobs alone for no reason and get killed very quickly. Or they get stuck and the mission must be restarted.) Now I can't complete it because the guard at the door just before the final encounter was killed by the Afflicted that spawn in that room. There is no way to save him if this happens and it appears random. The script to open the door shouldn't require him to be alive or he should be invincible...
This missions is the worst of the entire campaign and it has nothing to do with difficulty. It's just plain annoying because of all the things that are out of your control that cause a 30+ minute mission to be unable to be completed. Madoc10587 (talk) 22:24, 1 May 2021 (UTC)
