Things I'd like to see in GW2[edit]

  • A way to save chatlogs. Currently when I want to save a conversation for whatever reason, I have to take screenies of them all and then edit them together for coherency in an image editing program. It'd be neat if you could just save the logs somewhere (automatically or not).
  • A way to copy and paste chat :).
  • A better trading system than what is currently in place in GW. It shouldn't be hard to improve on the bad "system" we currently have.
  • An alliance system of sorts so like-minded guilds can stick together. This was one of the best things Anet ever added to GW and I hope we get to keep it in GW2.
  • Less grind, fewer titles. They suck and I don't want them.
  • Distant offspring of Mhenlo and Cynn. >_> Because I love them so.
  • Lore, and lots of it. I want to know everything.
  • No "wear and tear" on armors or weapons. It's just annoying and frustrating and costly and doesn't add to the fun. I don't want to be fixing my equipment when I could be out there exploring and killing stuff.
  • Solo-ability. I play with guildies/friends quite often, but I also like to do stuff alone, because then I can wander off wherever I want to go, do bonus/not do bonus if I want to, and heroes and henchies don't complain if I decide to go AFK for whatever reason. One of the reasons I'm still playing GW is because I don't need other real players, most of which suck anyway. It's also good if you only have half an hour or so to play -- you can log in, grab henchies/heroes, do a quest and log off again. Completely painless and there's no need to stand around for fifteen minutes first trying to get into a group.
  • Fun, easily accessible PvP. I love ABs ^_^.
  • Some kind of shared storage system for guilds/alliances. You'd probably have to let players hash out among themselves who gets access, but I know that I'd trust anyone in my guild and alliance not to abuse such a feature.
  • A way to send stuff to other characters, even when the recipient is not online. I'd love to have such a system now, because I have two accounts and transfering stuff requires a middleman :/.
  • If an unlimited level cap, a way to not show what level you are once you've reached "max" level.
  • Armor that's not class-based. It will make people less like everybody else of the same class aside from dye choices.
  • No more Fed-ex quests.
  • Don't make us trek allllllll the way back just to get a quest reward (Factions is notorious for this).
  • If there's an NPC who cannot die, please don't make him Leeroy ahead at breakneck speed. (Hi, Rurik and Jalis!) I'd like to keep EotN's system, where dead NPCs get ressed automatically after there are no enemies around anymore.
  • I really like the idea of not being able to transfer characters from GW1. It's 250 years later; our characters are dead and I'm fine with that. Having to start over with a blank slate, on equal footing with everyone else, is very appealing.
  • A hairstylist :D. I'm more than satisfied with the way my characters look, but being able to change style and color once in a while would be fun.
  • An easy and fast way to get places (like Map travel or whatever). Having to walk for ten minutes just to get to a mission or quest location is not fun. The system in GW1 is perfect; please don't deviate (too far) from it!
  • While I appreciate names getting reserved, I actually don't want GW2 characters with names of GW1 characters. For me, half the fun of character creation is coming up with up with new names that fit them.
  • Customization. The ability to make your character look unique is good. We sort of have that now, with armor and dye combinations (and yet 97% of female monks dye their Obsidian black for some godsforsaken reason -- it looks hideous), but I'd love it if there was more of it. Perhaps through accessories like what EotN offers now (bandanas and such) or jewelry?
  • A bigger friends- and ignore list. The ability to put a little note by the character name in the friendslist to indicate what kind of friend they are (i.e. met them in AB/PvE/HA, in alliance, etc.).
  • If there are alliances, and I really hope there will be as it did wonders for socialization in GW1, an alliance roster to see who's online and who's not.
  • Armor storage. For those of us who buy too much of it >_>
  • Limited skillbars like what we currently have in GW1. It makes creating builds interesting and fun.

Things I would not like to see in GW2[edit]

  • Titles. I think that on the whole, they've been bad for GW1, introducing grind and making people believe doing the same stuff over and over again is a good substitute for content. On the other hand, I really do like the title/achievement system of Warhammer Online (basically, you get a title every time you scratch your backside), so if it looks something like that, it won't be so bad.

When my guild/alliance discusses titles, the issue that most often comes up is that a lot of them just aren't very fun. Take the Cartopgrapher title, for instance. One way you could move that title from endless boring wallhugging to the "fun" category is to just make people hit pretty locations or interesting landmarks spread across the world map. It would encourage people to go out and explore the game world without making them scrape walls or resort to third party programs like TexMod to just get the boring shit over with.

I also never, ever want to see titles tied to the ability to get armor or to do fun things.

  • An unending grind in the form of "no level cap". I want to keep max level at 20, dammit, but it looks like that's just not going to happen >:|.
  • It being WoW-lite. Please. Plenty of WoW clones hit the MMORPG market every years; allow GW2 to be unique as GW1 was.
