Here are some builds that I slapped together to accomplish specific tasks.
Overkill Ice Imp farmer (W/Mo)[edit]
This is my first successful Ice Imp cave farming build, i.e. the first one that didn't lead to my slow but inevitable death from the sheer volume of incoming damage. I may have gone a bit overboard with the defense.
- 15 Strength, full Sentinel's armor, and a shield with a "Leaf on the Wind" inscription. In particular, you will take 0 damage from Maelstrom.
- This build is exclusively for fighting, not running. Take a group and fight your way to the ice imp cave.
- Flag your henchmen outside of radar range.
- Rely on your enchantments and attacking to keep you alive. They will.
- Maintain Defy Pain whenever possible. This, combined with your absurdly high armor, will hugely reduce incoming damage.
- Use Dolyak Signet in the presence of Siege Ice Golems to keep from being knocked down. Thanks to Mind Freeze, the movement speed reduction will not affect you most of the time.
Shiro killer (A/any)[edit]
Best to eliminate the element of chance as much as possible when fighting a man with an entire mission dedicated to killing him and only him. This build can (mostly) reliably take Shiro down in Master's time.
- The first bar is for you. I used 14 Dagger Mastery and 13 Critical Strikes.
- Maintain Critical Eye, Flashing Blades, and Critical Defenses for energy management, a high chance to block, and damage to Shiro. You will most likely only need to cast Critical Defenses once.
- Use the first three skills are your main attack chain with Critical Strike thrown in occasionally if you find yourself low on energy.
- The second bar is for a hero. Embellish it however you like.
- Wanding Shiro while he is in Riposting Shadows isn't a good idea, so make sure no one does that.
- An Assassin hero can also run the dagger bar.
Amatz Basin tank (A/E)[edit]
My record with this build is 160 points.
- A weapon of enchanting is needed to maintain Shadow Form. The other enchantments will benefit as well.
- I brought a full party of henchmen and flagged them to the enemy's spawn point on the right path. Presumably, a party of three perma tanks could control the whole area and get a much better score.
- Take the middle path. Aggro as many Wardens as possible. Don't attack them.
- Move to the side of the path to keep the Kurzick Refugees from being body blocked or knocked down. Make sure the Warden casters are not body blocking them either.
- Use Unseen Fury to avoid being knocked down when renewing Shadow Form. The blindness lasts for 10 seconds so you can generally renew the other enchantments on recharge.
- Use Death's Charge as an emergency heal in the event that your health gets dangerously low. Generally unnecessary if you're wearing sufficient armor.
- Heroes with "Fall Back!" at the Kurzick spawn points may be useful, but you will have to force them to use the shout.
Cultist Rajazan farmer (A/E)[edit]
This build is designed to farm Cultist Rajazan for his sword, as an alternative to the degeneration method on PvX.
Alternative with elemental daggers (substitute appropriate Conjure):
- I recommend a staff for running. The extra energy is helpful against Debilitating Shot. For fighting, zealous daggers are a good idea.
- The first step is to run past the groups of Shiro'ken blockading the Harvest Temple. Shroud of Distress and the two speed boosts should suffice to keep you alive. Once you arrive at the resurrection shrine, the Luxon Priest will heal you.
- Your path is the closest trough to the Temple, but there are two groups of Creeping Carp ahead. Just to the east of the shrine, there is a skeleton. Walk over to the skeleton, then turn around and Dark Escape ahead of the Carp (which will suddenly start advancing) to the inner trough. There will be enough space in the trough to squeeze past the carp.
- Before walking past the structure on your left, cast your defensive enchantments to guard against the Outcast and Kraken Spawn. Turn left as soon as possible and keep moving. A group of Outcast will spawn on your left. Dark Escape past them.
- The next leg of the run takes place in the northernmost trough of the whirlpool. There are three groups of Shiro'ken. Run past them, making sure to lose aggro after the last group as soon as possible. Proceed west, hugging the right wall (the mobs will accommodate you by making space) because a group of Creeping Carp will ambush you if you stay where you are.
- If the Carp are already there ahead of you, lure them into the Shiro'ken to dispose of them.
- Cast your enchantments and move west, most likely aggroing a mob of Saltspray Dragons including Kunvie Firewing. Ahead of you, you should see a group of Carp move to the right. Once they stop, recast your enchantments and Dark Escape around them on the left. Keep running past Cultist Rajazan's group. If you are lucky, Rajazan alone will keep following you. Otherwise, shake them all off and rest.
- You need to get Rajazan on his own. You can pull him with a longbow although this can take several tries and will likely fail if Rajazan gravitates toward the back of his group.
- Once you have Rajazan in melee range, Shroud of Distress will keep you alive and Shadow Form will keep him from stripping Shroud. He will not be able to kill you and you will be able to outdamage his life-stealing.
Raptor Nestling farmer (Rt/E)[edit]
Because walking into a cave, murdering scores of young dinosaurs in front of their enraged mother, and running away before she can eat you is funny.
- 12 Water Magic, 3 Restoration Magic, and 14 Channeling Magic should suffice at the highest Deldrimor rank. It takes 180 damage to kill a Nestling.
- Hold the urn, run into the cave, and cast Mist Form before aggroing as many Nestlings as you want.
- Once the Nestlings are gathered around you, drop the ashes before using your damage skills.
- YMLaD is for the Broodmother, since you might as well taunt her as you pick up her children's remains.
Dunshek farmer (Me/Mo)[edit]
A build for farming Dunshek's Purifier. Juggling six enchantments and a hex is exactly as fun as it sounds, but it works.
- Use 10 Protection Prayers and 8 Healing Prayers to get the maximum benefit from Shield of Absorption and Healing Breeze. Put all remaining points in Illusion Magic.
- Wear a set of armor with all superior runes to bring your health down to 105.
- Enter The Shattered Ravines from the Lair of the Forgotten. Walk past the Giants and the Torment tentacles on the right. Some Insects may pop up here.
- Stand next to Dunshek and any Dune Beetle Queens.
- Keep Protective Spirit, Healing Breeze, Balthazar's Spirit, either Shielding Hands or Shield of Absorption, and either Ancestor's Visage or Sympathetic Visage up at all times. This will keep you alive, Dunshek unable to heal, and the melee attackers unable to interrupt you.
- Maintain Crippling Anguish or the killing skill of your choice on Dunshek.
- Hard mode increases the drain on Dunshek's energy (helpful if there is only one melee attacker) and improves your own energy income.
- Also effective against The Scar Eater. Trade Healing Breeze for "I Am Unstoppable!"
Norn fighter (Me/E)[edit]
Because buying spirits for your Mesmer is overkill.
- Chain YMLaD and Ash Blast to permanently blind physicals.
- Interrupt skills like Healing Signet and Dervish forms.
- Take out Magni's Purge Signet with Diversion.
Thundermaw farmer (Me/A)[edit]
For farming Thraexis Thundermaw.
- The first bar is for you. The second is for a hero; both skills should be disabled.
- Exit Longeye's Ledge and flag your hero near the portal. Run east, then southeast until you reach the northern part of the L-shaped rock formation overlooking Thraexis's group. Have your hero catch up with you by running through the portal.
- Flag your hero against the rocks and have him/her enchant you.
- Aggro Thraexis's group and the smaller group to the east. Most of the Mantids attack in melee, so keep one of the Visages up constantly to shut them down. Kill the Nymphs before taking on Thraexis to reverse the polarity of the anti-farm frambulator.
Illusory granite farmer (Me/D)[edit]
A build for running around Old Ascalon with a scythe and whaling on ambulatory chunks of scenery...the Mesmer way. Suitable for Hard mode.
- Aggro 1-3 Elementals, gather them in front of you, and hit them with Armor of Sanctity. 12 Earth Prayers is more than sufficient to negate all incoming damage. A Heavy scythe of Enchanting is necessary to maintain both the enchantment and its Weakness effect.
- Use Signet of Pious Light after battle to heal any damage you took while aggroing.
- Use Ignorance to keep Cobble Poundstone from healing itself.
ToPK farmer (Me/A)[edit]
A rather slow build for clearing the Tomb of the Primeval Kings with a hero bonder.
- Alternate Visages to keep Grasps of Insanity from interrupting you.
- Use daggers to speed up the process of killing Banished Dream Riders and Chaos Wurms. Make the latter bleed to negate their inherent health regeneration.
