General Information[edit]
Me, Myself, and I[edit]I have always been a lover of online games. Years of playing Quake III, Everquest, Age of Empires, and Unreal Tournament 2000 with my father honed my identity as a gamer. By 13, I was strafing and fragging with the best of them - an age at which most of my friends were gossiping about which guys were the cutest and bragging about their new training bras. My overall enjoyment of these games quickly shaped my personality and my future; I have never been one to worry about clothes and hair, and soon drifted away from my childhood friends as we entered adolescence. I became focused on school, for I knew that the better I did, the more time I would have to spend among swords and sorcery, or drifting to sleep to the comforting sound of railguns and rocket launchers. Even now, nearing the end of my final year at the University of Oregon, I will always think of myself as a journalist second, and a gamer first. In late 2005, by the time I moved from my hometown of Seoul, South Korea to the damp, cold planescape of Eugene, Oregon, I had lost myself in the glorious visages of Guild Wars. The rolling hills of Ascalon titillated my senses, and I was quickly immersed in the unique playstyle and incredible PvP system. Though I have, in my later years, shied toward PvE, the metagame of old will always have an unmoving place in my heart. Overcoming each and every campaign a half dozen times over, however, I eventually moved on from Guild Wars in early-2008, after accomplishing everything that I had originally set out to do and achieving the illustrious title "God Walking Among Mere Mortals." I hung up my hat and moseyed out of town, switching to the "next best thing" - including, mainly, Warhammer Online, Lord of the Rings Online, and (very briefly) Darkfall. However, with the ringing of the new decade, the pangs of nostalgia have gripped me. I have again taken up the challenge of defeating the Lich King/Abaddon/Great Destroyer/Shiro/et al. Venturing for the first time in to the realm of roleplay, I am now a happy member of the guild known as the "Forever Knights." Perhaps all that fancy schooling and hours of essay writing will help me in this venture - it certainly helped me write this user page! User Boxes[edit]
