Notes Collected on Azurial Mentalice
- Brother Tobori of the Ashford Abbey wrote, Today I found a female child, roughly ten years in age, clad in soiled blue rags, and eating a small animal she had caught by hand. She is obviously a gifted elementalist since she managed to cook the animal without a fire. So few children go missing, it is truly a gift of Dwayna, that she may be reunited with her parents once we find them.
- A few years later Brother Mhenlo wrote, This young girl is painfully ill from a mental distress, her mind has blocked some horrible memories of her past. Yet she seems very capable on her own. She often calls me "brother" but not in the professional sense of the word. Many of us believe her family was captured and killed by the Charr. It is possible she saw her own brother die at the hands of the Charr. I noticed she calls the Charr "bad kittens" and ignored my questions of how she got away from them.
- Sir Tydus in a formal letter to the Ascalon guard, I have nothing against this girl. She cannot join the Academy based on her mental state. I fear she may injure the wrong people or herself in the Academy. Please do your best gentlemen to keep her from harassing me while on duty.
- Lieutenant Langmar's response to Sir Tydus, Since you are incapable of handle women and small children, I will be glad to give Azurial Mentalice tasks here to perform for the Vanguard. Maybe you will make better use of your time while she is occupied.
- After sneaking into the Academy, Prince Rurik witnessed a skirmish where the final score was 14 to 2 in favor of the team lead by Azurial. An anonymous witness to the conversation recorded this;
- Prince Rurik:"When I watched you fight, you made it look as if you were dancing with your opponent. Never before have I seen such grace in combat."
- Sir Tydus:"I believe she was dancing Sire, this young lady is mentally ill. It is my opinion she cannot join the Vanguard for this reason."
- Prince Rurik:"Eccentric perhaps, but I have come to my decision, she is now a member of Ascalon's Vanguard."
- Prince Rurik:"As part of the Vanguard, you are needed for a critical mission before we can begin our offensive against the Charr."
- Azurial Mentalice:"Shall we punish the bad kittens?"
- Sir Tydus:"Yes...Our sentries spotted Vat... many bad kitten in the old bunker out behind the Citadel."
- Sir Tydus:"As soon as you are ready, the prince himself will accompany you to cast this bad kitten and his friends out of our land."
- Prince Rurik later made this note in his journals, During the rescue mission of our countrymen, I took notice that Slaug Firehide seemed to know Azurial Mentalice. The charr manage to say just one word prior to her arrow piercing his skull. All he managed to utter was, "You!". She fought well but more so harder and stronger against the charr than any other opponent.
Notes Collected on Baron Velspa
- The midwife recorded the birth of a single male child to Viceroy and Lady Velspa. She was in awe of the child's weight being 9 and one half pounds. If this child was much bigger, I never would have got him out.
- The young Lord Velspa, was most noted for playing pranks and practical jokes on his tutors and governess. One prank that almost got out of hand, he used a tranmmogrifier tonic on a devourer. Then allowed the creature in human form access to his musical mentor's quarters. When the tonic wore off the creature almost injured the staff removing it. The damage it left in the room was enormous. The music instructor left Velspa manor never to return.
- Brother Tobori of the Ashford Abbey made note, I keep finding that boy Velspa sneaking out of the catacombs. I don't know what he is plotting, but I am certain nothing good will come of this. I will have a talk with his mother.
- Duke Barradin wrote this sometime after the searing, One day, soon after the Charr burnt Velspa manor house to the ground, Baron Velspa approached Duke Gaban and myself at my estate. He chastised us for allowing the Charr to get so close to the wall. I remember him being very irate and saying, "All you do is make wine and he (Gaban) drinks it! Not a warrior in either of you!". He also tried to warn us about the Charr building a structure near the wall, but Dwayna forgive us, we ridiculed him before the Prince. When the Charr attacked Baron Velspa died defending the Ashford Abbey in the holocaust.
- Necromancer Munne wrote in her journal, The courage of so many was remarkable, but one man's ability was beyond words that day. Baron Velspa was in the Abbey at the time when the burning crystals fell from the sky. I suggested getting people underground into the catacombs for protection. However the Baron saw it for the trap it was, "Should one impact nearby it will collapse! People will be buried alive.". When the wall breached, many of the Charr used the catacombs to invade the Abbey through the entrance at the Barradin's Estate. It was at this point, the elementalist blasted the rocks above the entrance blocking their advance. He continued to fight the Charr outside the gate and in Ashford. The last I saw of the Baron he stood looking straight up, as that burning crystal fell from the sky directly into Ashford.
